Carson Plumbing was originally started by Chuck Carson in 1982, with his lovely wife Penny doing much of the "office" work on the kitchen table in their home. Things quickly took off for Chuck and he quickly went from hiring assistants to purchasing trucks to improving equipment and custom service.
Finally the company outgrew their old house and Mr. Carson purchased the land that the business now sits on at 259 Wynburn Ave in Athens. In February, 2008, Chuck Carson sold his well established business to two of his sons, Josh and Pete Carson. These new stewards of the business have striven to maintain the same honest and courteous business relationship with their customers and the community as they were taught by their father growing up.

Best plumbers in the area. Always prompt, friendly, very professional and above all, get the job done right. We have used them for years. Oh, they also supply and service gas log inserts and they are just beautiful. We have them come out on an annual basis and check all plumbing and gas services. The cost is very reasonable too.

I had a really great experience with Carson Plumbing recently -I called about installing a new toilet and they came the next day, the person who came was on time and was so nice and extremely helpful. When the bill arrived it was very reasonable and a fair price. It is a relief to know I have a place I can call now that is quick and does a great job!

Updated Review from last month: I changed it from 1 star to 3 star since I received a letter, over a week ago from the company, stating they had changed the billing to exclude the "trip time" that was never mentioned on initial phone call. So, I'm happy they did the right thing and changed the billing but this could have saved a bad review had they done it when I called to question the additional charges.
Last Month's Review:This company has upset me enough to do this review! They are dishonest, will over bill you, and not do satisfactory work! They were recommended by Rainbow Restoration so I never bothered to check them out. I asked for detail charges when making initial appointment and was quoted $150 first hour and $120 per hour after that and any parts.
I had found my leak from a valve coming from water filter to cold water and showed it to the plumber who brought a young man with him. I explained due to couple other problems with one toilet started running and kitchen faucet started to drip occasionally and with a 20 yr old home, I thought my pressure regulator was bad. The plumber removed the valve and went outside but saw the Van driving off.
I went to find the young man and he was rebuilding my toilet without even asking me. The appointment was only to fix the leak! I had ask them to check my water pressure and young man did that but was struggling to get the tester on outside faucet and later said my pressure was fine. He couldn't even tell me PSI. I ask him where is the plumber and he told me he went to store to buy parts.
The plumber had been in my house for about 15 mins when he left and 25 minutes later, he is back and did not replace the leaky valve but installed o-rings in the valve. They looked like they wete about to leave and I ask about the bill and was told it would be mailed. So plumber was here for 30 minutes and the part was pennies and I was charged $293.24. Called office and ladies explained I was billed $240 for 1.75 hours that includes trip time from their office to my home.
This trip time was NEVER mentioned while making the appointment! Oh, and I had to turn the toilet OFF because it still leaks and I will get someone else to replace my water pressure regulator and fix my toilet. Called Carson again, today and was sent to Manager Mike and he made me feel like I was lying when he said trip time was explained to me but that was only after I got the bill.
When I told him I wanted the $240 reduced to $150/hr. HE ASK WHY (rude) after I explained and even said I never gave permission to work on my toilet! Last time Carson Plumbing, Inc., Athens, GA will get my business!

We called Carson Plumbing because the pilot light on our gas fireplace wouldn't stay lit. They came out and, after looking at it, told my wife that nothing was wrong and showed her how to light the pilot light. They also cleaned the ceramic logs as a "courtesy." In less than two weeks, we had the same problem again. We called them and asked them to come back out.
They said that they would send someone out but would have to charge us again. My wife explained that we had already paid them to fix this problem and they did nothing. They simply repeated that they would have to charge her full price again. Refusing to stand by your work is not only poor customer service but stupid business. Do not expect this company to perform quality work or stand by anything they do.

Though I cannot argue their quality, it seems that lately, their prices have gone through the roof. I've used them for well over 15 years and up until recently, they were always reasonably priced with very high quality workmanship. However, the last simple job cost well over twice what they charged a fairly short time ago and what other plumbers quoted me over the phone. Sorry. I'm bailing.

Basement flooded due to water heater, restoration company had Carson come in to do replacement. Few yrs later problem with water heater called Carson because of warranty. Warranty was in conversation from the initial phone call. Wasn't able to get appt for a week. Tech called me down to basement, repair was done and surprisingly informed previous work wasn't up to code.
He replaced wrong PRV and added expansion tank stating should have been initially installed according to code. Thinking they were correcting improper install & warranty I was very surprised when I received a bill for $600 days later. After multi phone calls was informed "They commonly do work that's not up to code because if so they would have to replace all the plumbing in my home".
When asked about billing and estimate prior to work was informed "We get called for a job, do the work then send a bill. We don't have time to give estimates". I did get a credit for $49.99 for expansion tank. Overall beware of this company and their practices.

We've had a ton of plumbing issues with our rental property since day 1 of moving in. Our washing machine drain always backed up due to old rusted pipes, and Carson was always excellent about fixing it in a prompt and effective manor. Tim, Charlie, and Michael have all been more than happy to fix our issues with a great attitude, and always explained what they were doing to make sure we understood what and why they did things. I would highly recommend Carson to anyone in need of plumbing services in the Athens area.

I am very impressed with Carson plumbing. They want to fix the problem, not tear your house apart. They are honest, easy to understand, and great to work with. When calling them to make an appointment, they have always understood exactly what is wrong and been able to give me an accurate estimate. I have them four stars because other plumbers in the area have lower rates.
