My whole experience with AusTex Fence was terrible. Your sales guy Ben came to my property to do the measurements (twice) and when asked what kind of fence I would like, both times I walked him over to one of neighbor's and pointed out the type of fence I wanted exactly (which was exposed square metal posts with horizontal full privacy boards with exposed metal framed gate). Ben agreed that you would be able to do same type of fence for me as well.

Once I made the initial 50% payment, I did not hear from AusTex for 4-5 weeks. Meanwhile, a strong storm here in Austin blew my old fence to the ground and now my whole backyard was vulnerable. I called and complained to austex about the delay and finally a crew shows up but with the wrong posts. I told the crew that this is not what I ordered, they told me to discuss it with the sales guy which I did. Ben and I then got into a debate with him saying I accepted the design as per the picture in the quote and had signed off on it whereas clearly he knows that him and I discussed the type of fence I wanted when he came to visit both times.

Talk about promising something and delivering something else! Ben also said that since now I wanted different post, need to fork out another $170 on top of what was originally quoted because of "increased material costs". Why should I have to pay for a mistake on their side? With my old fence blown away, I had no choice but to pay up (we did agree to split the cost finally) so that I have a fence to protect my backyard.

That said, my fence is still not installed the way I wanted and was agreed to by AusTex during our measurement meetings as the posts are still hidden behind the wood slats and gate does not have the metal frame exposed. Beware of this company. Better yet, find a different company to do it and there are a lot of options. I would not recommend them to any of my friends and family.

WE LOVE OUR NEW ALL-CEDAR FENCE by AUSTEX FENCE. they did a GREAT job from the estimate appointment thru the 2-day installation and our two neighbors that share the fence love it too! We had an all-cedar 6' privacy fence built with #2 or better grade 5/8" X 6" cedar pickets and two cedar backer rails installed with metal posts including old fence tear down & haul away!

We love how the cap & trim finished off the two public gate sections! PERFECTO! We were amazed at how your "gate guy" built the gates "on the fence" & cut it in half & it was an attached swinging gate. it was like magic! Your crews were very skilled and did a super job! We were able to get an appointment for an estimate in one week and installation in two weeks in a very busy April 2022 following multiple tornadoes in the Austin metro.

We highly recommend David Arkin our Residential Sales Representative. he was on time, knowledgeable, professional, he took time to ask & listen to what we wanted and to answer all our questions at our estimate appointment, before we signed a contract, during the installation, and after installation. David's emailed 1-page estimate with drawing was easy to read and understand with all the correct measurements, details and cost breakdown for us to make a decision. AUSTEX also has a Residential Sales Coordinator who made the process run smooth and was available to answer questions.

We purchased two extras. the sprinkler insurance and cap and trim. We shared the cost with two neighbors & AUSTEX made it so easy for all 3 of us to pay our individual balances online. so no collecting checks! Plus no service charge to use credit cards! Initially, I contacted 7 fence contractors, set estimate appointments with 4 fence contractors all who were recommended by my HOA neighbors. all 4 showed up!

We received 4 estimates, 2 which we recommend. And 2 we don't recommend due to lots of errors and missing info on their estimates. We selected AUSTEX FENCE because even tho they cost a little more they could install in two weeks (the other company was 6-8 weeks out), they only build ALL-cedar privacy fences, they try to reuse the existing post holes, easy to read estimate and easy for us & neighbors to pay online with no service charge to use credit cards. And AUSTEX FENCE has a 1-year warranty that covers defects in materials including the lumber and workmanship!

Jared and Thomas are amazing. He showed up, did a high-quality job, and he was so polite. I wish all workers were like him. No I'm seems to show up these days so we were so relieved to have Jared and Thomas put up our new fence. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

I hired Austex Fence & Deck to build a new wooden privacy fence surrounding the backyard. The fence looks great, construction started just a few days after the estimate, and it was completed in two business days. Every was responsive and easy to work with. I will definitely be recommending Austex to friends and family and will likely hire them again if we need more fence and deck installations or repairs.

We hired Austex Fence and Deck to build our new deck and we had a great experience. The person who came out to do the estimate and the design was fantastic and the crew who built the deck did a excellent job and were lovely to work with. They got the job done quickly and it looks wonderful-highly recommend!

I have used Austex Fence & Deck twice now. Both times they did a fantastic job and have had amazing customer service. Their work quality is top rate and prices are fair. Benjamin is the sales rep that I have worked with both times and he has been extremely friendly and professional at every encounter. I will continue to use Austex Fence & Deck, I highly recommend them, and I would give them 6 stars if possible!

Austex replaced fence panels we had to take down for tree / stump removal. In addition to pricing this repair, they also added a second gate and provided a screen wall for our trash / recycling bins. Our point of contact (Ben Huggs) was great to work with. Following the initial installation, he had his team return quickly to resolve an installation issue. The final product is fantastic. We look forward to working with them, again, when we do our front yard addition.

David Arkin of Austin fence and deck presents an imposing stature at 6'5 but he is a very courteous and respectful person. Austin F&D did an amazing job on our patio addition. They provide excellent feedback, quick response time and truly elegant work.

Just want to give a shout-out to Austex Fence and Deck! I researched several companies and read many reviews. I got 3 estimates to build a pergola and salesman, David Arkin from Austex F&D was hands-down the most professional with detailed estimate and design specifics. The crew built it in 2 days! Sturdy, level and just what I wanted. I stained the cedar and hung a swing. Can't wait for spring to add more plants and relax under the pergola.

They're very affordable but the work sort of reflects that. I had to have them come back out to widen a gate that was 6 thinner than planned -- in fact the gate was barely wide enough to get a trash bin through before they redid it. They also built the fence overlapping my neighbor's sprinkler head. I recommended them to a friend and they built his fence in a way that covered up the fiber box on his house and then told him they would not come out to fix it, instead insisting he should just remove that plank when he needs to access the box. And that advice completely misses the point and makes it impossible for me to recommend them again.

Austex gives builders the option (cheapest) of using landscaping timbers as the support posts for the fences they build. Unfortunately, our builder chose to go this route and our posts began rotting and falling. over with 3 years of construction in 2014. Austex only offers a 1 year warranty which is sufficient for them because the timbers do not fail within the first year.

I have spent over $1,000 replacing these landscaping timbers with metal posts over the years. We had a section blow over in 2017 or 2018 and many posts replaced since we bought the house. Now I have two HUGE sections of fence that blew over recently due to the poor construction materials. Our dog or even our kids could have.

The entire experience from first contact to secure a quote to final installation was outstanding. They set up the installation in a couple of weeks as opposed to another company that I called that said it would be a couple of months before they could get to me. Austen Fence & Deck kept me informed on scheduled steps for completion and met the dates they said various work would be performed. Highly recommend them.

Austex renovated our deck with a beautiful composite material. They added railing and it looks incredible. The crews were on time, respectful and hard working. The entire process has been seamless and will absolutely use them again.

Austex F&D recently built a cedar pergola with a solar shade cover for us and we were very happy with how it turned out! Once the team arrived, they knocked it out quickly did a great job. We were able to have materials dropped ahead of installation so that it was pre-stained prior to the build (by a 3rd party) and this was a great recommendation.

I was very happy working with Kirk and the office team throughout the quoting process, but I did feel that communication broke down significantly once installation week arrived. The date moved once from the scheduled date due to weather related challenges, but on the new date, nobody reached out or showed up all afternoon. The team did show up in the early morning the following day and quickly got to work, but the missed communication was a small disappointment. Overall, for the price, value, and appearance, I would certainly use AusTex again. Thank you for doing great work for us, we love being outdoors with the new pergola!

I contacted Austex Fence for a quote on the installation of a wrought iron gate in our existing wrought iron fence. Their fence specialist, Tom Beville, showed up and gave us a quote and explained the process. He was very professional and very friendly, and he answered all of my questions. We then scheduled to have it installed. They require 50% down, then the remainder upon completion. Austex was great on communicating the scheduled start date and responding to my e-mail inquiry about the crew not showing up on the scheduled date. Austex apologized for the crew failing to show and they said they'll be there the next day.

A crew showed up the next day and they cut out the section and cemented in the new post. Then the following day a worker showed up to finalize the install. They use the section they cut out for the gate itself. They installed the hinges, the lockable latch, welded what needs to be welded, painted the weld areas, put the cap on the new post and it's done! Worthy of a bookmark and a try if you're looking for gate or fencing installation.

I was impressed with how quick they came out to give a quote vs other companies - and they utilized all the newer technology so came across more professional than others. The install of the fence and gates we asked for was good. Only down side was on the first visit they dug all the holes and filled 6 of the 8 and left the other 2 with no explanation as to why not. So left 2 large holes that really left an unsafe condition for us and our Greyhounds for 2 full days till they came back

Remarkably unhelpful folks. In spite of what their website says, they don't offer aluminum fencing. I asked for a comparative quote for an aluminum vs. iron fence & got a call back with no quote for either. They suggested I search for custom fencing (Having seen the gate I'm looking for on multiple online sites, I know that what I'm asking for is NOT custom.) Guy seemed like he really just didn't want the job. Also, what they advertise as iron is, in fact, steel.

Steel fencing is good but is less pricey than iron. Since they refused to even give me a quote, I have no idea if their pricing matches steel or iron. Really annoying waste of time. Update: note that their response to me does not address the discrepancies between what's on their website & their actual offerings OR their inability/unwillingness to generate a quote. Another company was able to build my fence as requested. Guess what? No custom work. Imagine that!

Worst fencing job I've ever seen! There is gaps so big I can see into my neighbors fence! Broken boards, some flipped out, this job was a complete mess. They say weather permitting but can't put during a rainstorm, which completely destroyed my grass. I was left with holes in my lawn from where they removed the old posts. Save yourself the headache and go with a real fencing company. I'm embarrassed I had to pay for this!

Austex was great! Super professional, super knowledgeable, super prepared for the quote: they seemed to almost answer my questions before I could even ask them! They had pictures for reference and ideas, and could explain and demo all the options. They were as quiet as could be considering, efficient, organized and did no damage. The fence took 1.5 days for my small yard, it looks amazing, and they hauled away. It's beautiful.

THEY QUOTED $155 TO PUT UP 5 PLANKS. My fence is a year old, still in pretty good condition, and a small section blew down with the last little storm that blew through. My husband put it back up- all but 5 panels that had cracked in half. The panels are 4 dog-eared and Home Depot and Lowe's were out of that size so he called the company to see about getting some.

The quote is ridiculous for the work that needed to be done, especially since we really just needed to know where to buy the right sized panels. Update- Panels are a dollar and we found them at McCoy's. So we were able to fix the fence for under $10 and save the cost of labor to put up five panels. The company owner explained the high cost is due to lumbar shortage but I find that very hard to wrap my mind around for 5 panels (or even 7 apparently) when materials are less than $10 so that's $145 in labor for 5 pickets to be nailed in with a nail gun I mean look at the picture and think if that would be $155.

If I could give less than a one star I would. Our neighbor gathered 500 signatures of residents that are having issues with their Austex fence. Ours fell and we have been here barely three years. 2 sides are falling and my neighbor's fence section fell as well. Pictures included. When I called before the one year warranty was up they sent guys that said everything was fine.

Do these pictures look like a fence that is fine? Fences are so expensive to fix. I had to use Austex with my house build. If I had a choice I would not have used them. They wouldn't repair or fix it. But now that it is out of warranty they won't do anything. I called at least half a dozen times. Update7/19/2020: I had to repair my fallen fence.

Cost me another $2000. In the future, if Austex is the fence company, I will wait on the fence and do it myself. I had to pay TWICE for a fence. RIDICULOUS. I posted the pics of the pieces of concrete found in each post hole. Not enough to hold the post which is why it fell.

A couple of years ago AUSTEX Fence replaced 2 out of 3 sides of my back yard. We did the 3rd side plus gate this year. They did a professional job and delivered from top to bottom. The office staff was wonderful accommodating my constantly changing work schedule to honor my request for me to be here during day 1 of the tear down of the old fence. Sale rep Kirk Attwood was helpful understanding our special requirements with our back yard and ensured the builders built to the agreed specifications. High recommend AUSTEX Fence and Deck!

We hired Austex to build our deck and we're happy we did. They were fast and their price was very competitive against the other bids we received. Kirk was great to work with and their install team worked very quickly. I will definitely start with Austex for any deck or fence projects in the future!

They were very responsive when we originally reached out for a quote, and their quote ended up being about $500 less than Viking. Overall they did a great job, the finished product is very nice. The only snag was there was a miscommunication about when the job would be finished. It took a day longer than expected. Otherwise, I would recommend them.

For the amount of money I'm rather disappointed in the final product. From the very 1st meeting it was clear to me that the manufacturer was unable to get proper color swatches of the final finish. The 6' fence cost nearly $135 PER FOOT! With 2 gates. The fence blew like a palm tree in the recent high winds, since the fence design is modular and fits loosely enough TO SWAY TO AND FRO! I ought to post a video of this fence dancing in the wind.

Austin residents, please beware when working with Austex Fence and Deck, and in particular Neil Kreitzer (salesman). I hired Austex to build an iron fence to include a double gate (two 6' gates for 12' total). In addition, we discussed that the fence should be designed to accommodate my installation of wood pickets between the iron rails. Neil quoted installation of the iron fence and the wooden pickets, but we agreed that I would install the wooden pickets myself after the iron fence was installed to reduce cost.

The Austex team built one of the gates to spec (nominally 72", but they built the other one short by nearly 3" (69-1/8" from the post). This has left a large gap of 2-1/4" between the two double gates. By contrast the other single gates they installed on the property have only 1/2" gap between gate and post. I have asked Neil to simply fix the double gate so that there is a normal sized gap (1/2 to 1"), as the large gap is unsightly and creates a large enough opening for my small cat and chihuahua to potentially squeeze through. Neil has refused and Austex sent me a letter threatening to sue me and place a lien on my house if I did not pay the remaining balance.

On top of that, Neil has stated that I voided my warranty by installing the wooden pickets to the iron fence. When we discussed my installation of the wooden pickets before the sale, Neil agreed to design the fence to support the addition of these wooden pickets. He at no time indicated that this would void my warranty. In fact, I paid a substantial extra cost for larger posts specifically to support the double fence gate and extra weight of the wooden pickets. It's incredibly disappointing that Austex would prefer to sue a customer rather than take the simple step of fixing their mistake. Shame on them.

What was supposed to be a two day job in March has lingered on for months and I'm done with this company, I refuse to work with them anymore. This was a simple fence extension nothing fancy. First you do not show up at 9pm at night to work without any notice to your customers. This is a safety issue for both the employees and the customers! Learn how to run a business!

Then if you cannot provide services to out of town customers then don't take their money and promise them they will get the same service as your Austin customers. Next do not be cheap and use wood that is warped and is clearly no good. Don't waste your time and money on this company.

When I purchased my home, it came with a fence built by Austex. A warranty was included with the fence, which was really nice. Several weeks ago, I noticed that several slats were coming loose on my fence; no big deal, right? I contacted the proper people to get the fence fixed, and an appointment was scheduled to fix the fence. Unfortunately, I've come across an issue that was mentioned by several other reviewers here regarding the warranty.

Two or three days after setting up the appointment to fix my fence, I noticed that a fence post, right where the fence slats were coming loose, had become bowed (please see the attached image). When I brought this to Austex's attention, I was told that the post is not covered under warranty and that it would cost $175 to replace. When I asked why the post was not covered under the warranty when the fence is less than a year old, I was told that this is because that posts typically bow and shift due to the weather and temperature changes.

To be fair, this is a valid point (items such as wood are bound to shift and move around due to the temperature and sun), but when a post becomes this warped before the fence is even a year old, it is an indication to me that the said post may be defective. I find it rather strange that the fence posts are not at least partially covered under warranty.

There are times, after all, that items can be defective or damaged. Personally, I believe that a fence should last for longer than a year before I have to start replacing posts and slats. Especially considering how much money it takes to have a fence installed nowadays. To me, a sign of an outstanding company is when it's willing I to stand behind its products and workmanship; in this instance, unfortunately, Austex has failed to do this in my opinion.

When an item as costly as a fence fails like this before it's even a year old, and the weather has not been incredibly severe (incredibly hot or cold) this summer and winter, it should be fixed free of charge in my opinion. In order to avoid seeming like I'm overly bashing Austex, which isn't my intention, here are some of the good points: The fence itself seems to be decently made Customer service is alright, but I really had to stay on top of them when I was trying to coordinate the repair to my fence.

They were super responsive to my initial warranty request. For the above discussed issues, I have to give this company 2 stars. The above mentioned good points save Austex from getting one star, but not by much. When a product is potentially defective and is still under warranty, the right thing to do is to either fix or replace the item. At this point, I honestly cannot recommend Austex to friends, family, or folks on Yelp.

The customer service at Austex was very friendly, professional and responsive. However the quality of the wood they used for our fence seems to be really poor. We noticed the fence was caving slightly but didn't think much of it. The caving seemed to get much worse so we called to look into the warranty. They sent someone out to look at the fence and advised that it will cost $160 to replace and install one post and they warranty does not cover warped post.

We have now notice multiple parts of the fence caving and it looks horrible and of poor quality. The fence came with the home we purchased in a new construction development and we've only lived in the home for 6-7 months but the issue presented itself within the first month or so of living here.

A few years back we used AusTex Fencing and were very impressed with the sales representative Jason, as well as the installers. They quickly responded when a few items needed to be corrected and we were happy with our purchase. Recently, I contacted AusTex to have an addition to the fence they previously installed. My initial experience with the first sales rep. and customer service representative was a stark contrast to our first install. AusTex management was contacted and we received an immediate response from Stacy and Randy regarding our concerns -- they were very responsive.

During install there were a few minor hiccups, but were handled quickly by Randy. Overall, our experience with AusTex is that they are a solid company and have a strong commitment to partner with their clients and provide a quality product. We would recommend AusTex for fencing.

A few months ago, I called Austex for a quote on a new fence. I left a message & they didn't return my call. I tried them the next morning & spoke with someone. She took a message & said she'd have someone call me back. No call. Fast forward a few months.my neighbor contracts for his entire fence to be replaced by Austex, one side shared with me.

I agree to pay him for half of our shared side. I guess he had better luck getting through to them. Actually, he contracted them through Home Depot. I'm not really happy with the quality, workmanship or materials. But you get what you pay for. They were cheaper than others, but they also didn't have the extras that the others provided. They were definitely not my choice and I gave him several others to call, but I wasn't the one replacing their entire fence.

I get it. Unfortunately, he's not happy with their work or workmanship, either. I have a fence. It keeps my dogs contained. If they only knew. I LOVE that they didn't attach my front section into the rest of the fence. Before they replaced the shared side, That front section originally had rails nailed into a post. They thought it would be smart to saw off my rails and just wedge them into the new fence. Yes, you heard that right.

No support! I can push my fence with my fingers and it moves. Yup. They thought that was smart. Wtf?! Luckily I have a gate in that section, so my dogs can't get back there. Along with crappy planks, warped planks, lack of enough nails, wow. I'm stunned. I definitely would not recommend them!

They installed a bolt to hang a gate so that it doesn't even go through the post. Naturally the gate breaks after a couple of years and they will not repair the fence claiming it is out of warranty. They also left the sharp ends of several nails exposed to the inside of our yard.

Having some parts of our deck that the company rebuilt two years ago repaired. These guys were one of the lowest priced bids we took. Looking at the lack of craftsmanship, sloppy work, inferior materials, and corner-cutting, all I can say is you get what you pay for.

Thanks for the great fence! It looks amazing. Your workers were all professional and knowledgeable. The work was done quickly, they showed up and did exactly what they promised.
