Heat Pumps
Report
Unlike a furnace it doesn't burn fuel to make heat - It simply uses electricity to move heat from one place to another. In the cooling mode, an air conditioner or heat pump simply capture heat from inside your home and transfer it outside. In heating, a heat pump actually reverse-cycles and captures heat from outside and moves it inside.

At the start of the pandemic our hot water heater went out. ASI was able to come out immediately after we called, and were able to install a new water heater the same day. The cost was higher than other plumbers, but the ability to complete the project the same day was a priority for us. ASI stated that when doing the install things would need to be brought up to code, which impacted the cost.
All in all, happy with the repair/service. Knowing they would be on the pricier side, we contacted ASI earlier this month to obtain a quote to replace our water main, and a quote to install a shop/garage sink that I would supply, as the previous sink had been removed. The rep showed up on time, was personally and professional during the visit, and promised to forward quotes for both projects that day.
We never received a quote for the water main, even after a follow-up text to the rep. I was quite clear that we were planning on replacing our driveway/front patio, and would be replacing the water main as a precautionary measure. I was also quite clear that I would contact someone else to do the digging/etc., and was merely looking for a ballpark quote on installing the water main once access was obtained.
We did receive the quote for the shop sink - two quotes, actually. Keep in mind I would be supplying the sink (freestanding), and was looking only to have it correctly installed. For $3755 ASI would install the supplied sink by completing the following: 1) Open section of drywall to expose drain piping and water supply. 2) Cut out existing section of drain pipe and set fittings needed to fit new tub sink. 3) Redirect hot and cold water supply to new location for laundry tub sink faucet with new emergency valves. 4) Remove/Replace hot and cold laundry valves 5) Install customer supplied tub sink 6) Install customer supplied tub sink faucet 7) Install p-trap assembly for tub sink 8) Run washing machine drain hose and secure into laundry tub sink.
For $5859 ASI would install the supplied sink by completing the following: 1) Open section of drywall to expose drain piping and water supply. 2) Cut out existing section of drain pipe and set fittings needed to fit new tub sink. * Plumb new Santee for laundry line and tub sink. 3) Redirect hot and cold water supply to new location for laundry tub sink faucet with new emergency valves. 4) Remove hot and cold laundry valves * Install laundry box with new valves and washing machine stand pipe. 5) Install customer supplied tub sink 6) Install customer supplied tub sink faucet 7) Install p-trap assembly for tub sink Yes, you read that right - ASI will charge between $4000 and $6000 to install a sink supplied by the customer.
Pretty sure these quotes do not include any drywall repair, so probably another $1k on top of that. A rep from ASI called a day or so later to see if we were interested. They were unable to explain why the install for the sink was so high other than 'there's a lot of parts.' They did offer to assist with the quote on the water main, but by then our appetite for hiring ASI had evaporated. We will look else where for plumbing, A/C, and solar needs.

As a customer I'm constantly disappointed with the service and response from this company. I had my water heater swapped with a tankless and I've had nothing but problems since it was installed. Nobody has been able to fix it. I called about another issue and they apparently will not provide service on plumbing they don't install. WTH? Anyway, I can't recommend this company any more as all they seem to want to do is sell you new things and not service and repair what's already installed.

Tankless hot water heat not working. Called the ASI Hastings (The White Glove Guys); came right out and said need a part, will not be in till Monday and will cost $500 or he can replace it tomorrow for a cost of $4900. We declined and paid the $167 service fee. Called Payless Water, they came out, did a deep cleaning, everything works great now. Cost $549. Lesson learn always get a second quote. By the way no part was needed, I called ASI Hastings and they cannot tell me what part I supposedly needed.

We had a water heater that was spraying/leaking in the night. Unfortunately, we called other places first and couldn't get anyone to come out. ASI said they would get an emergency technician out and kept in contact with us until they got here. The heater was old and needed to be replaced so they got a new one installed the next morning. Both sets of technicians gave us great service couldn't ask for more. Definitely will call them first next time!

Bad Business rant: Please share this anywhere you can. We had paid off solar, when we bought our home in 2018. Our true-up bill was 2500.00 so we decided to get new solar installation from ASI The White Glove GuysASI The White Glove Guys. They promised we would be able to use our air conditioner and have a "near zero, or zero" bill on our true up.
We signed a contract that said we needed to demo the old system, and their new one would suffice. Now our true up is over 5000.00 and we have a solar payment bill of almost 50k that we have financed to get the solar, and ASI will not help us fix their solar. We hired a third party firm who investigated the wiring and found that they had over 50 building violations and one big one that could have burned down our home. SDGE got involved and told us that if we didn't remedy that violation, our power would be shut off indefinitely and we would have to pay more to turn it back on. ASI got that fixed after we demanded it, and we had to hire another third party person to come out and verify it had been changed because ASI wouldn't send photos to SDGE.
So along with the 50k, the 5000 true up, and hiring a third party electrician, we can safely say ASI did not honor their promise of a "zero" bill. Our third party guy said they did their math wrong, and that their system should have been added alongside our old system, but they Demo'd our old one. He also found that the battery we paid 13k for was malfunctioning and not programmed, and installed too far away to have the manufacturers warranty.
We reported them on BBB but they lied, implying we hadn't told them that our system was having trouble. I have thorough evidence in email that proves we were worried almost right away. And we kept emailing, and they kept placating us. We are honest people, we want to trust people did their jobs right and honestly. You can look at the BBB complaint if it's up yet.
We thought it would be great, having a zero electricity bill, making the 50k "worth it" in the end. But, no, I have been having panic attacks and paralyzing anxiety over this. It has been a nightmare. And we haven't been running our air conditioner, the kids are all hot. We had solar installed June 2020 so this has been ongoing for TWO YEARS.
I am tired of thinking about it and worrying. It is seriously affecting my health. We just want them to fix it and make us whole financially. So we don't feel cheated and in the hole for their SHODDY WORK. If we have to get lawyers involved it's going to cost even more. Please click on this post and share this from my page. It would help us our getting their attention, since they can't be bothered to help us.
They didn't do any kind of helping until they were forced to. We need this fixed. Response to the below comment: It has been TWO YEARS OF THIS You say that we have OVER CONSUMPTION? But we haven't CHANGED ANYTHING It's like you touched our house and everything is now broken. We need it fixed. DO NOT BLAME US FOR YOUR BAD WORK. The fact we are still waiting for your "report" should mean that you guys should have gotten a second report done so we wouldn't still be in limbo over this.
I can't believe this. Our third party guy has told us that our battery is too far from the inverter and that it was charging and discharging throughout the day causing our incredibly high usage! We are waiting for REIMBURSEMENT FROM YOU. We need this behind us I can't keep thinking about this I am too stressed out and I want to move on just FIX IT ALREADY

I thought I was getting an "AC Tune-up" per the ad, but what I received for the $87 was an AC Cleaning - no coolant checks or fill-ups. Coolant is an additional service visit for another $87. The follow-on appointment for attic insulation the next day was missed with a call five minutes before the end of the appointment window asking if I wanted to reschedule.
The person who showed up at the house was clean, nice, and friendly but that was the only real positive about the experience. The cleaning helped but I would have liked to have had a complete "AC Tune-up" as I requested. They do like to sell add-on services (like attic insulation).

Last time I will use ASI the rip off guys. First off the technician was professional and very knowledgeable. Time, punctuality, and response was exemplary. That said though, they will rip you off on parts. They obfuscated the capacitor by calling it a "motor assist module" rather than letting me know the actual name of the part. One, it was covered by my warranty had I known it was a capacitor, two the part cost less that $100, three there was an easy youtube tutorial.
I got charged an additional $500 in fees assuming in labor, diagnosis, and extended warranty fees. Complete bullshit for a visit that took less than 30 minutes to complete. I suppose the $500 is worth knowing the slight of hand tactics pulled so I can stop throwing money at "professionals".

I Had ASI come to my house today to do a air conditioner rejuvenation For $87. They claim that if your system is more than 10 years old it could be using twice as much electricity as it needs. When they got to my house everything was working. When they performed check on the furnace they advise me of the age saying 25 years old. After checking everything and starting system back up it didnt work they said it was blowing fuses and the circuit board was bad.
They want to charge me almost $8000 for a new furnace which I feel is highway robbery. They offered me a quote for entire system for 15,000 again way to high a price. I can get it done for alot less seems kind of shady to me. Seems to me if it was working when they were here they should make it work without charging me. Just want to make sure this doesn't happen to anyone else.

We need to remove and replace (at our own expense) the rooftop HVAC YORK equipment sold and installed by ASI for all the impacted homeowners in our HOA in Crown Point / 92109. Less than 5 years after installation and while under warranty the unit developed leaks that caused significant rust / metal decay. ASI sent out a technician several times and they took apart the unit several times to try to stop the leak unsuccessfully.
The YORK unit was serviced by ASI each year as recommended to keep it under warranty. Every time a technician visited the HOA property they would always state that "being close to the ocean will cause damage to the HVAC". The previous HVAC equipment was still working after 20 years when we upgraded to ASI recommended YORK equipment in late 2015. The HVAC equipment recently had the heating component fail - the circuit board (over $1,000) needs to be replaced. Technician Diagnosis: "The circuit board failed because of corrosion being too close to the ocean and it is not under warranty".
We had the unit examined by an independent HVAC company prior to the ASI repair / inspection visit. The circuit board failure was NOT due to corrosion caused by being close to the ocean. YORK sells HVAC equipment to more than 45 million households within 10 miles of the ocean across the USA, HI and Alaska. Very disappointed - the technicians are courteous but ASI does not have a business model or management culture that stands behind the products that they recommend, sell, install and service.

The ASI Team has been absolutely incredible! We've had multiple services done from solar to a brand new AC and water heater install, and ASI has been nothing but helpful! I want to especially thank Michelle who always gets us set up with new appointments, yearly maintenance, and is just a friendly voice on the other end of the phone who always makes sure we have what we need. Thank you all for being so awesome. Our home is efficient because of you!

Just had the Solar Water Heater Package installed for under $9,000.00 due to 10% discount for being a veteran. Initial visit was very educational, answered all questions, no pressure, just info. I watched them work all day today and they are master level performers. They're even replacing a solar panel sensor at no charge. Check out the photos. Thank you ASI.!

I scheduled a A/C tune up with the $87 special, but I was quoted $96 for service. Agreed on price, service was done by rep, even checking heater and other parts of system. I was happy with work, but when time to pay, rep told me the price would be $239. Told him was quoted $96, he said ASI doesn't give that price to all customers, even though I was given that price by them.
I guess being a 20 year customer and both A/C and heater brought from them didn't count. this is not the first time this has happen. Done with ASI, won't use them again recommend no one else does either.

Wow! From my first conversation with Jonathan to my last outstanding professionalism. Completely dedicated to providing top quality work at a reasonable price. The crew ran into some problems and worked them out. Amazing! They did not increase the cost. They offered solutions and follow-through. Crew, Josh and Scott were careful of my home and took all precautions needed. Looking forward to my new heater and a/c units! Again, Jonathan was incredibly responsive and patient and kind through the entire process. I have already made one referral and will be making more. These are the type of people you feel comfortable referring! Thank you so much! Teresa Shanahan

I wanted to add a review for ASI Hastings. We have been involved with ASI for our heating and air conditioning system, we bought from them 13 years ago. Still running great, because we have them do a maintenance check on both systems once a year. Dan Reed checked everything so it keeps running great, and actually called and asked if he could come early. We had him come an hour early. After reading the not so nice reviews, I wanted to show ASI my appreciation of them.

Great company they took care of my slab leak with a reroute. The price was reasonable and they were able to do it in one day. Tyler, Evan and Dennis were great Super friendly polite and professional. I would definitely recommend and I would use them again. Thanks ASI Service: Plumbing leak detection

I recently had the Plumbing division of ASI come out to give us a quote after having a pinhole leaking in a pipe caused by calcium repaired. We use the ASI Heating divsion and they've been great. The ASI Plumbing division is highly suspect. They looked at all bathrooms, kitchen sink, washroom sink and the water heater. The water heater was replaced in 2019 and was missing a part that falls under code. ASI gave me an estimate for $17k worth of work that included repairing the code issue. Anderson Plumbing came in after and noted the same code violation.
They showed me the Job Number, Date of Repair, and Phone Number on the Heater. They also shared I should call the company that did the work and have them come back out and fix the code violation. They came out this week for the price of the part ($49) and did the work for free. The Anderson quote was a lot less than the ASI quote. I've called ASI twice now to ask them about their quote and no one has returned my calls. Haven't awarded the business yet but I get the feeling from the Heater issue that Anderson Plumbing has built in other unnecessary work in that quote.

From our initial estimate meeting with Rodrigo to our all day plumbing repairs with technicians, Evan and Dennis, they were all on time and efficient and got right to work. Their professionalism and knowledge were great as was their willingness to listen and answer questions and concerns. We will definitely be using and referring ASI again.

I technician was very polite and informative. I called them to do a service on my system to insure proper working order for the summer. Before the service the equipment was working great but after the service I was informed that the system had some problems. And gave me a list of repairs necessary. After the tech left my equipment did not work anymore Calling them back the tech came back and diagnosed the problem very quickly which was very interesting.
He just happen to have a capacitor that was needed to fix the problem. After installing it I was informed that the capacitor was going to cost $380 not including the service call. I looked the capacitor up on Amazon. It was only $16.00. I asked them why the cost was 20 times more. The tech said he would contact his office and the response was that they do not compete with internet and that was there price.
What followed was really a shock. I received five different proposals to resolve my A/C problems. Ranging from $5900 to $31,000 to repair my equipment. I almost passed out. I feel my system was intentionally damaged so they could come back and take advantage of the issue and take me to the bank. I feel they are very underhanded and take advantage of individuals that have running equipment and do a service call to cause more issues so they can increase there profits I will never use or recommend this unethical company.
I would recommend no one else fall into the trap like did. Just to alert all consumers. Be ware of this unethical company. They train there techs to try and sell the consumer things they don't really need very upset and just want all to know fraudulent practices and damaging equipment to get more work.

I was told that the service that I ordered would include cleaning of the filter replacement none of that was done I was told there was a leak in my AC unit that they would not fix it would cost me too much to get fixed and it needed Freon and they would charge me $89 a pound for Freon I will never use their services again ever!

The representative was very professional in his approach to my problem. He also respected our home by (a) wearing a mask, (b) covering his shoes with covers, (c) wearing the trademark white gloves. He called ahead so we could sequester our dogs, showed up at the time he predicted, and serviced the heating unit carefully and thoroughly. He even used a borescope to check inside the burner, well beyond expectations.

We needed two bidet sprayers/nozzles installed by ASI. Once they arrived, they gave me a quote for $410. Thinking that was pretty pricey, but not knowing much of plumbing, I just signed. The work was done well, the guy was super nice, but it only took 20 minutes. So that's $1,200/hour for plumbing work. I've had lawyers charge MUCH LESS than that. My fault for being so stupid but that's some serious price gouging. "Anything customer supplied gets charged at a higher rate." Customers beware.

Installed heatpumps and solar. The quality of the work was excellent. They respected my home, wearing masks, shoe booties and using plenty of drop-cloths. This applies to both the hvac and solar work. Their guarantee is the best I have ever seen. They always followed up on any issues or questions I had. Due to the age of our home, more work was required than anticipated, but I was not charged a single penny more. The household climate control we have is wonderful now. Overall, it was an excellent experience!

I am disappointed with my experience with this company. They advertise an $87 service to unclog drain. My guess is, Felipe didn't really want to get dirty that day. He was very polite and soft voiced, which is good. However, he went into some obscure reason why he wouldn't even attempt the job, and why this would turn into a $1000 + job. My conclusion is, their ad is a trap to leure customers into expensive repairs they don't need. Felipe claimed liability not to do the job. The house was built in 1951, should it be rebuilt from scratch in order to be up to code with year 2022? This is a rubbish excuse not to do the job.

We contracted with a ASI to install whole house air conditioning plus solar in a house that didn't have either. Given that there is a pandemic and they are shorthanded like others, they got an amazing amount of work done in the time that they are promised. We did have to wait for one part, but they installed the gas furnace so that we would have heat until the heat pump part came in.
We had new ducts installed, which required some demolition. The ASI folks always wear booties and masks in your home. They even have bespoke drop cloths with their name on them. They put these everywhere so all that was really required was a good dusting. The installation of the equipment was first rate and, from what I researched, done at a competitive price.
Whenever there was an issue, I found them responsive. I have an electrician friend that took a look at their work and said it was extremely high-quality. They offer a "guaranteed happiness" warranty which is pretty impressive. I will also note that I did not pay them a penny until the work was completed. The design of our new system provides excellent temperature quality around the home and we also have much cleaner air.
I think it did help that I came in prepared with some research and also a requirements list. But their people are experts in their respective fields, so I don't think you would be ever led down the wrong path. There were some communication issues and I ended up doing a lot more of the project coordination than expected. In fairness, there is still a pandemic going on and they have people who are not available at various times. However, they seem to have a deep bench and can find someone to resolve issues, While ASI is no longer a local family owned operation, I understand that the people that built it into the business it is are still involved.
It seemed that everybody had been with the company at least five years and I met many that I had been there 15 and 20 years. That says a lot for the Company culture. ASI also installs solar and I was impressed with the level of detail they went through with the plans and double checking our expected new usage with the air conditioning. That's not listed in Google here, but I have full confidence that job will be done just as well as the HVAC job.

I worked with Aaron to do a diagnosis on my HVAC system and he did amazing work! He was extremely thorough with his evaluation and was very helpful answering my questions and concerns. I really appreciated his integrity and honesty with his evaluation. I highly recommend working with Aaron! Service: HVAC system maintenance

On MLK day, late afternoon, I contacted ASI (after trying 4 other plumbers who couldn't come out that day). The office followed up with an email to confirm the appt. The tech showed up on time, but what was really nice was that he sent an email with his photo. He immediately knew what the problem was and repaired it in 30 minutes. He explained the issue to me and why it happened. Very informative. My only issue was the price, it seemed pretty high, but I haven't used a plumber in a while so maybe it was average. BUT the service is the best!

Have been a monthly service member for a couple years, with maintenance every 6 months. Yesterday's "maintenance" quickly turned into hard sell to upgrade system they installed 3 years ago. Not happy and don't want to see this technician/salesman on any future calls. This used to be a good company for me to deal with. Service: Heating maintenance

ASI took great care of me. My advisor Jason Mathis answered all my questions. Installers Taylor and Emmanuel were great and cleaned up every day. Account Manager Jonathan Cardona called before and after service to make sure I was happy with the service. Have had two great experiences now with ASI. They also installed my water heater a couple of years ago. Thanks to this team.

Thomas, our technician, was excellent. He called us in advance and was right on time for the appointment. He gave our old heating system a very thorough inspection and gave me a very good explanation of everything he found, including pictures to help me follow along. He was able to tell my 39-year old system was safe to use but should be replaced in the near future, due to the normal metal fatigue from the 39-years worth of heating and cooling.
I really appreciated the straight forward message he gave me and the options he presented. It was a great experience and I would highly recommend ASI and Thomas to anyone needing their services.

Couldn't give a lower score. I would like to first day that I typically only take time to leave a review if I felt the service was great. In this case I will lay out the facts and you can determine for yourself if this constitutes "white glove service". ASI installed the Furnace system 3 years ago. We noticed we were not getting ANY air downstairs in our newly purchased home.
I reached out to ASI and they sent out a technician right away. The tech Anthony came and took a looked and said that the ducts were not installed properly. I heard him on the phone with the manager letting them know it was an installation issue with the ducts (office was trying to say it was outside of warranty) and that they were installed improperly and should be fixed.
Company policy dictated that a quality control specialist comes out and inspects the issue. QC came out to take a look, Brandon reviewed the work and said that the installation of the ducts were wrong. There were too many ducts going to two rooms which was taking away from air going to other areas of the house. "I'm not sure why they would do that".
I asked him if this is what we could expect from getting a new furnace (for no air to be coming out downstairs) and he said no. At no point did he say I would need to pay to correct. He stated that he would reach out to the office and that I should get a call for scheduling. NEVER heard anything back, so we call and they told us that the scheduler is on leave for holidays.
After the holidays we called back and left a message. A week went by without a word. I finally called them back and she said she could schedule but that I would have to pay to get ducts fixed. I'm by no means a cheap person who expects things for free but in this case it didn't make sense to me. If two of your technicians said it was installed properly then I why should I be expected to pay. The furnace system costs over 20k and there is NO air coming out downstairs. They told me that the previous owners never complained so they could fix but if I paid.

Luis came on time, sent a message confirming my appointment, and did the maintenance of my furnace professionally and quickly. He explained the value of getting a service contract and suggested I get it. After examining the contract offer, I decided it makes sense and will save me money. I am pleased with his service and recommend the services of this company to anyone interested in keeping their furnace and AC functioning properly at a reasonable price. Thank you.

I appreciate ASI 89 dollar drain cleaning. That was great. Even using a camera to show me why it was clogging was great. The service technicians were fine no problems. Everything I needed from them I got. But, $3,000 for 5 feet of ABS pipe, some digging, and glue was pretty dang ridiculous for a quote. Who pays this?, the elderly? The extremely inept?
I got it done for 35 bucks and a couple hours of digging/backfilling. Im in the wrong business I guess, would love to find out who pays these prices so I can start charging for that too! But like I said, no problems with the work I called them out for, just needed to get that quote off my chest!
