In the summer of 1985 two college friends, Bill Merkler and Walt Bostian started Down To Earth Landscaping. They both worked their way through college, attending classes full time and keeping the business going by commuting back and forth an hour away to complete their customer's projects.
They stayed focused and determined to grow their business knowing that hard work, treating their customers right and having the best employees would steer their company in the direction they could be proud of.Down to Earth has grown from its small beginnings to a full-service landscape company. Offering our clients the benefit of receiving prompt, professional services from design through maintenance.

They came by and looked at my house. We were ready to spend a lot of money. We waited on them to get back to us with a proposal and a plan. Five or six weeks went by and they began to screen my calls and never got back to us. It looks like they do great work, but if calling a contractor dozens of times over over a span of two months hoping to have somebody pick up is the experience you're looking for and that's what you will get here.

Bobcat backed into my car. At scene in presence of Police Officer, Supervisor arrived; spoke to driver; assumed responsibility and promised to pay damage to my car without going through insurance. I elected to take supervisor at his word and not go through insurance. However, once provided with estimate and incident report which did not corroborate what was stated at scene, company refused to pay and reneged on assumption of responsibility. Following incident, neighbor indicated he had been watching employee operating machine "recklessly" and wondered who he was going to hit.

This is the 2nd fence job Jim and his crew have done for me and I am extremely pleased with the quality and pricing of the work. The 1st time I need fence repair/replacement the other quotes I got were an indication the other companies did not want the job. Jim quoted a very good bid. I no longer call any one other then Down to Earth Landscaping. The work was performed on time, the crews were courtesy and very professional. I highly recommend Jim and his crew for your landscaping and fencing jobs!

I am in a HOA and not expecting personal perfect landscaping, I am also not expecting the weed whacker operator to cut over a foot path around my sidewalks, driveway and gardens almost to the ground. It is ridiculous and unprofessional at best, with all due respect I can find kids that have never done this and get a better job than this professional company! I live in Leisure Knoll. There was no option for less than one to rate this work.

We have been working with John as our landscaper for a few years now and he has been wonderful. Just recently we tasked him and his team with redoing our backyard and I can't say enough good things. Our yard turned out better than we could have hoped. He's communicative, hard working, and trustworthy. Not to mention the guys on his team are great! Highly recommend working with John for all your yard needs.

We have been using Down to Earth Landscaping for the past 10 years taking care of our lawn maintenance, lawn chemicals, clean ups, irrigation, specialty jobs, and snow removal. They are a pleasure to work with from the supervisors to the crews that come out to do the work. They couldn't be more professional, thorough, hard working, and friendly! Their work is meticulous. I would HIGHLY recommend them for any services needed.

I am so impressed with Down To Earth! I live in Hillsborough in a townhouse subdivision where they handle all of our landscaping and maintenance. The manager and staff are very friendly and they work hard to keep everything looking nice. I have been here over 40 years and I am an a avid gardiner. The guys work with me and around me so it's great. Ken K.

The company neglect to train their employee that always new and amateur. They do our condominium landscaping. They cannot recognize garden plants and cut our blackberry bush with the berries on it. They are trimming Rhododendron bushes after they made the buds (actually they trimmed all the buds). They manage to make the common junipers bushes ugly cutting all the green from them.
They are killing garden plants with Roundup. You cannot be safe from their work even setting warning signs. Not only nobody reached me out but as a new piece of work all my strawberry plants got killed with new round of Roundup.
