Craftsman Design & Renovation

We hired CDR to renovate our entire 1916 Portland Craftsman home. It was a remarkably successful experience. The entire team, from design to construction, were supportively responsive to design modifications, resourceful at specific detail discussions and were always reliable with communication throughout the entire 1year+ project. Combine that with the quality of the sub contractors skill and project management's tight scheduling, we'd have to say we were very satisfied with our complete experience.

We had our Kitchen remodeled by Craftsman recently, and they were excellent to work with. They had a team (Anna and Dawn) that worked with us to design the space, then they had a team (Andrew, Jessica, and Kate with many others) do the construction. What stood out to me was the organization, professionalism, quality of the work, and the fact they were on time -- to the exact day that was promised 3 months earlier -- with completion of construction.

That was impressive. They handle everything, including the complex scheduling of subs/trades and managing their work through the process. From start to finish they really delivered. I work in the Commercial Building industry and know how things can get challenging with old structures and renovations, and they anticipated everything. If you want peace of mind, and a beautiful end product, consider Craftsman. I plan to have them do more work for us at our home in the future.

These folks are simply amazing. Bottom line, we highly recommend them for your design and build needs. My partner and I were looking for a design + build firm to help us with our complete kitchen remodel. The project was a bit larger in scope than just a kitchen due to needing some basement stair repairs and wanting to increase the size of the kitchen by cannibalizing some other space.

The kind people at Craftsman helped us zero in on a design that fit our needs and our budget. They were supportive and patient while we changed our mind (more than once), even meeting after work hours on days that we couldn't escape the office. Their expertise continued through the appliance and finish selection process. They helped us pick from the myriad of choices without breaking the bank or sacrificing our overall aesthetic desires.

The build portion itself was also quite smooth. They communicated with us extensively and we never felt "out of touch" on what was happening. They were helpful in keeping us on a time table for the remaining selections to ensure there was enough time for everything to be delivered. As our house is old (typical Portland) there were the inevitable, unforeseen complications as the project proceeded.

The Craftsmen people were great at communicating these situations with us and helping to brainstorm solutions. We were impressed with everyone at Craftsman as well as the various subcontractors and trades that they hired. The fabricators, electricians, plumbers, and painters were very skilled, friendly, and respectful of our home and our neighbors'. We would not hesitate to use them again! In fact, we're thinking about a bathroom redo.

The team at Craftsman were EXCEPTIONAL from start to finish. We have had some terrible experiences with contractors in the past but Craftsman made my wife and I feel that there are companies like Craftsman who do not fall into this typical category of contractors. The team was responsive and stayed on schedule. If any issues came up during or after the project they were quick to respond with solutions.

The work that was done on our kitchen was exceptional. Their lead carpenter Nate was incredible during project and ensured that while we were living in a space without a kitchen for months that we would feel as calm as possible. Their lead designer Courtney was able to provide some wonderful suggestions while still keeping with the style we wanted for the space. Suzanne was able to manage the project in an efficient way that made us feel extremely comfortable throughout the process.

Every sub that came into our home were friendly and respectful of our space. We have never worked with a company that actually stayed on their own timeline and followed the schedule they created. Our kitchen looks amazing and we can't wait to use Craftsman for all of our future needs! We can't say enough about our wonderful experience with Craftsman.

Craftsman Design made our kitchen remodel experience much more pleasant than we expected. Without exception, the whole team was knowledgeable, professional, and dependable throughout the process. The lead carpenter, Nate, was truly exceptional in his attention to detail, and the design team captured exactly what we wanted the final kitchen to look like. We will definitely use Craftsman Design again for future remodeling projects and recommend them highly.

The entire team at CDR is made up of great people! The quality of workmanship was excellent. The project took a lot longer however than they lead me to believe.

After looking for so long for a reasonable priced builder i came across these. No one wants to do a roof on a shed because its not a big job but not in this case. The builder came well prepared, on time and ready to work. I am actually excited at how quick and good it looks from the materials used. Would definately use their services again!

The people at Craftsman Design did a site visit, talked with me and my husband extensively, and came back with several options in detail drawings. We worked collaboratively and came up with plans that fully expressed our vision of what we wanted our living room and dining room to look like and function. The work was very professional and the sawdust contained. We are totally enjoying our Craftsman remodeled living room and dining room. These are great people to work with.

I cannot possibly rave enough about Craftsman Design and Renovation. I contacted them while in the midst of a horrific experience with another contractor and getting bids from other contractors to complete the project. It was a whole house remodel that was at various stages of disarray. I ultimately went with Craftsman because they were the company I felt I could trust the most.

Their bids were competitive with other companies, though a little higher. However, the trust and professionalism - and ultimately the excellent work - were worth the little extra cost. From the very first interaction they were professional, knowledgeable, kind, easy to work with and every step of the way did GREAT WORK. They were great at communicating what was happening when and keeping me abreast of any issues that arose.

I live in another city and so that communication was key. They worked with me to keep costs down, but also maintain the integrity and character of my older Craftsman Bungalow home. Their entire crew was great to work with. In the end, there has been nothing but praise from people who have seen the work. They have high quality standards for themselves that is reflected in their work. I recommend them without any hesitation.

We have had Craftsman do two major jobs in our home in Eastmoreland. On both occasions we have found them to be precise in both estimation of cost and execution of workmanship. Further, the folks who work directly for them, and the sub-contractors as well were all very likable people that we have continued to employ independent of Craftsman for many small jobs around our house. They have also done major jobs for friends of ours. I would hire them again in a heartbeat if another major renovation comes up for us.

Craftsman was FANTASTIC to work with! They made the project easy! They helped us create a warm and inviting home. Contrary to a prior reviewer's comment, they were not responsible for removing any front yard trees or installing a "lawn". Please watch as we develop a bird and butterfly fruit producing sanctuary over the next several years! Thank you Craftsman for your thorough professionalism! You feel like family!

The guys at Craftsman Design and Renovation are experts in restoring older homes. I have been really impressed with all of their work. Not only is Wade, the owner, considered an industry expert who has been featured in many publications, but he is also a very approachable person who knows what he's talking about.
