We never received a quote or follow up, even after reaching out. Ultimately a waste of time setting up the consultation and meeting with them. They were recommended by a neighbor who said they had a good experience with this company. Have since had the project completed by a different company who did an excellent job.

Beware. I hired Roots in late spring to do a yard cleanup and to replace a fence gate. I had to call them back multiple times to finish the work that was agreed on and to fix the gates which were not installed properly. Now months later one of the gates is not working and the other gate handle and lock has completely fallen off. Their work was shoddy at best and I can not recommend them. I'm now looking for someone to fix their work.

I had previously put a negative review due to not following up on a previous call. I decided to try again; Jeff responded and came out quickly, was extremely friendly and knowledgeable, and provided a quote quickly. When asked if I had time to think about it, Jeff applied no pressure whatsoever, and was also flexible on timing, suggesting a good season to avoid extra work on my part for watering.

Their work was generally good with the lawn but there were several issues with the gardens that were commonly less than average. What they did was very different from what was agreed to when I first met with Jeff and told him what we needed, versus what we got. And it wasn't easy to get a response from Jeff when something was missed or done wrong, which was quite often with the garden maintenance, trees, grass, and bush trimming.

For instance I told him we needed the flowers maintained, but I had to trim back the dead parts myself after they were here; when our rose tree blew over, it took weeks and several contacts for them to stake it back up; they just hacked off our beautiful tall grasses rather than sculpt them; they NEVER staked our leaning dogwood as was agreed to when we first met; and they NEVER treated the weeds or caterpillars eating the roses as they agreed to do when we first met because they don't use weed or garden pest killer, Jeff later clarified when I complained. I also had to do that myself. Very basic and general maintenance they're OK but for detailed garden maintenance you should look elsewhere.

Great service from A to Z I send them a picture of my situation I send the same to few more companies in the area but they the only one that respond with a fair price estimate and also explain what type of work will be preform. It was really easy to set up the appointment and I'm very happy with the results. Will definitely use them again (See pictures)

Top notch landscaping company. They have now done three separate projects (general landscaping, drain system, and hardscaping) for us and we are very pleased with the results. In fact, they have gone beyond our expectations in many cases, while being the best priced option from all the quotes that we have received.

This past spring my yard was in a desperate need of a serious cleaning and mulching, in order to put it on the market. I hadn't raked a single leaf the previous fall and many branches had fallen over the winter. They did a clean up as well as the edging and mulching all in one day. They were much cheaper and more reliable than other companies I've dealt with.

My sister recently hired Roots to freshen up her extensively landscaped yard, and they did a wonderful job. I'm confused about the negative reviews, we have had nothing but quick response and action from this company, and I plan on hiring them to do extensive work to my new home.

As another reviewer wrote below, I was very impressed after the initial meeting with Jeff. He was on time and very friendly. He told me he would follow up with an estimate. After 4 unanswered emails and no return phone call, I gave up. He never responded to anything. I hope that he is not "vetting" customers. That would be very disappointing.

Our backyard was an overgrown disaster that we avoided at all costs. Roots Landscaping transformed it last year into a beautiful, usable space that we now cherish. Jeff Snyder's crew cleared overgrowth, transplanted shrubs, graded the soil, and installed beautiful turf. They did this all on time and on budget. I admire Jeff's scientific approach to his craft, and his horticulture degree really shines through. Very responsive and reliable. Would strongly recommend.

I had an initial consultation/estimate for some work in our backyard (lawn replacement ground cover) in early August. I was immediately impressed as Jeff was friendly, knowledgeable, responsive, and provided a detailed estimate within a week. After a few e-mails I was ready to hire them, and then asked if there was any familiarity with the Rainscapes rebate program, and after 4 e-mails from August through September seeing if they were still available for the work without a response, I gave up. Very disappointing.

Roots Landscaping just completed a "spa treatment" for my front and back gardens, They weeded, pruned and mulched. They planted new plants in a hard-to-grow area that met my desire for low maintenance and attractive. And they build three raised vegetable garden areas. AND they fixed a downspout issue that flooded my basement in the last heavy rain. Jeff has a degree from Purdue in horticulture; is a local guy which means he has ties to the community and CARES about the customer service and repeat business. And the pricing was very fair. Go for it!

Last year they graded our lawn, found a creative solution to our drainage, and put in a row of knockout roses for an extremely reasonable price. We have a corner lot and are on a little more than a quarter acre. Our experience was so good because they were very responsive, which has not usually been our experience with these types of services. The owner also went to college for horticulture and had a drainage solution that none of the other estimates had provided for almost half the price.

This year we were so pleased with our previous experience we them do a spring cleaning and mulching. While they were there doing the work, we contracted them to design something for the side yard. Now that it is installed we could not be happier. Our house looks better than ever. All in all, an extremely positive experience with great prices.
