Hudson Hardwood

I'm a first-time homebuyer. I recently purchased a condo that had beautiful laminate floors in most of the condo, but wall to wall carpet in the bedrooms. My first order of business was to contact flooring contractors to get the carpet removed and have engineered hardwood installed that color-matched the laminate flooring (unfortunately, that particular laminate flooring is no longer manufactured, so having a contractor simply order and install the same product wasn't an option) as closely as possible. I've never had to hire a contractor before in my life, but I found Joe Hudson through his excellent online reviews, he promptly returned the voicemail I left him, he was able to come out to the condo within a few days to give me an estimate, and worked really hard to find me a nice flooring product to install in the bedrooms that was a pretty darn close color match.

The installation work in the bedroom was scheduled by Joe fairly quickly, and performed by Joe's amazing installer, Wagner, in a few days. Joe periodically visited the project to make sure everything was going smoothly, and would regularly provide me with status updates via phone calls, texts, videos, and photos. The finished product looked so gorgeous that I decided to pull the trigger and get Joe's team to install the same engineered hardwood throughout the rest of the condo.

To be clear, that was absolutely my decision, Joe did not bring it up, and he never once tried to upsell me. In fact, once I decided to get the engineered hardwood installed in the rest of my condo, Joe let me know that the existing quarter round was still in great shape and that he could reuse the quarter round once the new floors were installed in order to save me money. Joe was able to accommodate the additional work into his schedule so that I didn't have to delay some previously scheduled repair/renovation work that couldn't be done until the floors were finished, which I thought was really kind.

Once again, Wagner the Wonderful was the installer, and did a phenomenal job, and once again, Joe made regular visits to the condo to oversee and keep me apprised of the status of the work. I cannot say enough good things about Joe and his team. Do yourself a favor and hire them!

Joe installed hardwood floors in our home over 10 years ago. When my husband and I decided to get the floors refinished to refresh and modernize the color, we were excited to welcome Joe and his team back into our home. To say that we were impressed is an understatement. The communication was on point- receiving an update everyday on what to expect for the next day. Joe did a fantastic job re-sanding and staining our previously (very) red cherry wood floors (with many scuffs and markings) into beautiful dark brown Jacobean floors. Joe was very prompt in completing the work, keeping us in the loop with updates of the project, and providing us useful advice regarding floor maintenance. He was also very flexible in adjusting the scope of our project and extending wood refinishing to our floating staircase. We bought a new house with ugly carpet over linoleum. We didn't want to live with that and wanted hardwoods ASAP before moving in! Joe Hudson was quick to give ballpark pricing, responsive to come take a look at the place, shared his honest opinions about linoleum (just install over it!), and was the only vendor we talked to in a very tough market who said he could start right away.

He encouraged me to save money by removing the carpet myself, communicated with us throughout the project, added little changes and additions I came up with after starting without nickel and diming me on change orders, and like clockwork a week later things were ready and look fantastic! Hardwood flooring is complicated - do yourself a favor and don't waste your time with Lumber Liquidators and other confusing vendors like we did.

While they might be cheap, they're certainly not intuitive with a litany of $10 decisions that add up and delivery dates and multiple subcontractors to worry about scheduling. Just call Joe Hudson and get an honest quote, he'll take care of everything fast and you'll be walking on your beautiful new floors in no time!

Joe has the best communication skills I have ever come across within the past 30 years dealing with contractors. He fit me into his schedule while I was dealing with an air conditioner leak that required almost all of our den floor to be torn out and replaced. He sent 6 men to work on it during the first day and finished the floor a day and a half earlier than expected.

His crew is hardworking, neat and cleaned up at the end of each day. Renato was able to match the new flooring with the old using a natural finish. It looks Beautiful! I plan to use Joe's company, Hudson Hardwood Floors, again in the near future. I highly recommend Hudson Hardwood Floors!

Joe and his team did a fantastic job. They had a big task of tackling my original hardwood which was painted on ages ago. Not only did they get everything sanded, finished, and sealed, but you'd never guess the atrocity of paint that once lay on my hardwood floors. Additionally, they did a great job of filling in a few holes in the hardwood, fixing up the trim, adding matching pine treads to my steps, and making an entirely new pine landing. A+ work from these guys.

Hudson Hardwood (Joe Hudson and team) removed our existing flooring which was showing serious signs of trouble. The team worked out issues in the subfloor to install unfinished white oak that was then sanded, stained and finished. Hudson Hardwood also worked with us on a custom landing/mud room area with material of our choice and replaced our powder room tile.

The finished product is excellent with the wood floor showcasing what Joe called a "museum like finish". This was a significant project and Joe was responsive the entire time to any questions or concerns we had. We asked a lot from Hudson Hardwood and Joe and his team delivered all of that and then some. First, the floors are gorgeous and Joe talked us through each stop of the process, what to expect and answered each and every question we had, which were numerous. We were disappointed in our existing floors that were installed as part of the rehabbed home we purchased just over 3 years ago.

Every other contractor we talked to seemed to only have confusing answers to the issue but Joe laid out a plan. Joe's team then removed that material, worked on the subfloor and then installed amazing hardwood that was expertly stained and finished. As part of this extensive project, we also had a custom landing area installed and our powder room material replaced. Joe was always flexible to accommodate our timing and always available for any questions, no matter how significant. Joe and his team did a fantastic job on our large parquet entrance. They had the proper equipment and kept everything as clean as possible. Friendly, professional and efficient and kept us informed every step of the project. Definitely would use again.

My wife and I moved into a newer construction home with very poorly built and maintained engineered flooring. Our sub-floor was warped and loose all throughout, causing an uneven wave like effect with tons of creaking. This was by far the most involved home improvement project we had been a part of (demo of floors, repair leaking doorway, level sub-floors, adjust appliance heights on new sub-floor, installation of new flooring). Responsiveness to all issues/concerns throughout the project was 5-star.

Joe and his team are amazing! They installed new hardwood flooring and quarter round trim throughout our entire house & stairs and we couldn't be happier with the results. A terrific company! Contacted Joe Hudson on a Saturday morning and explained that we needed the hardwood floors repaired and refinished. Also we had a tight schedule to complete the project. The next day, on a Sunday, Joe Hudson arrived and provided his opinion and placed us on the schedule for Tuesday with a completion date by Thursday. Thursday evening, as promised, we were walking on the newly refinished floors that were restored to the original condition.

The Hudson work crew were experts in this project and when there was no dust due their carefully taping every area, it certainly made us enjoy the end result much greater than we ever anticipated! We do look forward to calling this owner again for the next phase of refinishing. What a pleasure to have real craftsmen work in our home who respond quickly and remain true to their proposal.

Hudson Hardwood We were in a pinch trying to get hardwood floors into our newly-purchased house before move-in. Hudson was quick to get back to our inquiry and send someone over to take a look and do an estimate. Joe was very responsive to text/email, and offered us a discount when we pulled up the plastic underlayment ourselves to see the condition of the subfloor (the old laminate was already pulled up by a different contractor).

It took some time to nail down a start date, but once we did they did very good work on a reasonable schedule. They ended up replacing damaged parts of the subfloor and installing the new hardwood and quarter-round molding. They were great to work with, and we love the finished product. Our only complaint is we would have wanted better cleanup of sawdust/debris in the unfinished basement. Would definitely recommend.

Let me tell you about Joe Hudson and his team. My wife and I bought a great row house in South Philly, but were dismayed to find the previous owners had let their cats destroy the carpeting upstairs. I removed the carpet and found 50+ year old laminate flooring underneath - but with lovely old original pine hardwood under that. After struggling with the petrified adhesive under the laminate, I found Joe.

He took one look at the floors and said, "No problem." He was able to squeeze our home into his busy schedule to accommodate our rapidly approaching move, and was a pleasure to work with throughout. The best was when we saw what they did. They completely saved the hardwood. All the laminate and adhesive is gone, and they sanded, polished, stained and matched color to the old pine and the newer oak flooring in the hallway.

Wanting to update my home, I decided to venture into the world of whites - and contracted Hudson Hardwood Floors to white wash my oak parquet floors. From the start, it was apparent Joe Hudson knows his craft. He has a lot of talent and expertise, and is savvy in applying it. Additionally I value his business integrity, which includes top-notch customer service.

From the outset Joe was on top of it. He worked with me to understand my floor vision, and made sure I was completely happy before laying down the color- guiding me through a process of testing various color patches on the floor to help narrow down the best option. I also appreciate that he uses high end product and offers a fair price for his high quality work. Our floors were installed in 1938. We reached out to several companies to have them sanded and refinished. Hudson Hardwoods was by far the most responsive. They delivered on everything they promised and were very clean and courteous while in our home. The floors look beautiful. I can’t recommend them enough!

Joe did an absolutely outstanding job resurfacing and staining the hardwood floors in my new house. The house was built in 1980 and it did not look like the floors had been resurfaced since then. Joe took out deep grooves in the family room floor and corrected water stains on my living room floor. The finished product has exceeded my expectations by a long shot. Joe went the extra mile to make sure that everything came out to perfection.

The floors look good as new. I love the Rubio Monocoat chocolate color. Joe applied ten samples and made sure I felt completely sure about the color I selected. I trust Joe completely and felt very comfortable giving him a key to my house during the job. He even recommended an interior house painter to me, which was very helpful, since I am new to Philadelphia. Joe left my home in immaculate condition and his dust-free technology never left any trace of dust. I hired Joe to refinish the floors in my house in Graduate Hospital. The only thing I knew about floors is that it would be easier to do them before I moved in! Out of all the pros I hired this spring to do various projects, Joe was the easiest to work with. Easy to plan the work, get a quote from him, schedule the work. He finished exactly on time.

He was very easy to contact and he quickly provided us with multiple quotes we asked for, since we weren't sure exactly how much work we wanted to have done at once. We wanted to replace the carpet that covered our entire second floor and stairs with hardwood, and Hudson Hardwood was able to do both within a week. We could not be happier with the results.
