Back in 1988, Zaharis Landscaping consisted of a single lawnmower and two brothers with a passion for transforming dirt lots and overgrown yards into botanical works of art. At night, owner John Zaharis would read books written by gardening experts to learn more about California's climate and the plants that would thrive here.He passed his contractor's license exam in record time and on the first try. The company has grown considerably since then, but that passion still remains. We remain committed to excellence, and we're not satisfied unless our customer is satisfied. If you want a good and complete job done, avoid using this company. In 2 days they didn't get 1/2 the job done at a very high price point. The owner even told his crew to NOT finish the job since we did not opt for a 3rd day. We ended up with a lot of clean up on our own and more work to do. What a waste.

These guys are phenomenal! My sister's house was 2-3 years overgrown with vines, bamboo, weeds, and even a random palm and peach tree that sprang up from nowhere. I had several other landscapers come and look and spend 15-20 min telling me how bad the yard is, had some that declined the work from photos alone saying they were "too busy", and one even tell me there might be snakes and rats in the mess!
Not John, he came in, took a look and said, "no problem, we can take care of this for you". What a huge relief to have someone not make you feel worse about something you already know is awful! Even with a busy schedule on his roster, John managed to find 2 days to get a team out and start the work in less than a week from quoting. His team was prompt (even a bit early), hard working, kind, considerate and very thorough.
Even in the mid summer heat of Sacramento these guys didn't slow down or let that stop them. John, you and your team are true landscaping heroes and we are beyond grateful to you for taking on this tremendous challenge without hesitation. We can't wait to get more "fun" landscaping done with you and your team after this clean out with confidence knowing we are well taken care of by Zaharis Landscaping! Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I was a customer for about a year-and-a-half and I would have to say the quality of work was good but keep an eye on their labors because they'll show up and not do anything and if you go to call the office they tell you they will check the GPS on their trucks but that doesn't mean that their workers are actually doing anything there's been several times wear my retired next door neighbor has told me that the guys came in sat in front of my house about 20 minutes and then left I then proceeded to check my security cameras and sure enough he was right I moved out of my residence at the end of November so I called zaharis at the beginning of November to make sure I was not going to get charged any extra fees or anything to make sure I was caught up on payments and sure enough December rolls around and I get a bill for $20 because their workers said they came by one week in December.
When I called to cancel service the lady I spoke with reassured me that I was all caught up on payments and there is nothing going to be charged extra. So when I called zaharis back about the extra charge on my bank account the lady told me she would check the GPS on the truck and get back to me she never did and now they won't return my calls. For some people $20 is pocket change but not for somebody who's moving out of a house to downsize to something i could afford.
I'm not one to leave bad reviews the only reason I use their service was because I had a friend who used to work for them and I heard good things at the time. It's not like my yard was hard to do no bushes trees or shrubs just mow trim and blow the front yard fairly small yard in Citrus Heights was paying $80 a month I guess if I was living El Dorado Hills or Folsom the situation probably would not have happened.

Zaharis Landscaping gave me an estimate to re do my front yard. An entire rip out and install of new plants, rock and back. Kayla came up with a beautiful sketch and plant list. With a few tweaks here and there we captured my vision. Love that they don't give you a cookie cutter layout/ design and really get to know your style. Kayla took everything in to consideration, the color of my home, my favorite colors, textures of plants.
Once we decided on the final look, the crew came in and started the front yard makeover. John, the owner, estimated about 5-6 days for the work to be completed. New drip system was installed, plants, a dry riverbed, rock and bark. The communication with Michelle in the office was friendly and polite, she would answer any questions i had and if she didn't have an answer at that moment a response back from her was prompt. Overall the experience with Zaharis Landscaping was incredible. We are already planning our backyard landscape to be done Spring of 2020,

From the beginning John expressed a willingness to work with us and did just so. We had to do some negotiating on work being done in order to fit within our budget and Zaharis definitely did work with us in making changes to scale down the price. I was a little bit dumbfounded with pricing on some of the materials, but encountered similar situations with other bids and just blew it off.
We had a few issues along the way, as there would be with any type of project like this, and John did address each one along the way. I had a little trouble with the communication process, but take part of the responsibility due to my own control issues. I would have preferred a little more timely communication and responses, but managed to keep my cool especially since when I did hear from him, all issues were addressed. Also, there seem to be a lack of professionalism and leadership on the job site.
Overall the workers (who changed out a couple times) were genuinely courteous for the most part. A little bit of grumbling about the company for which they are working and receiving their paycheck. Overall, we are extremely happy with how Zaharis brought our yard vision to fruition. Our project was completed within the time frame proposed with a couple tweaks following.
We love the final product immensely. We have recommended Zaharis to friends and if we were to bid out another landscaping project, we would definitely bring Zaharis Landscaping into the mix again.

I recently hired Zaharis Landscaping for a full yard clean-up, as well as bi-monthly lawn service for a couple of months until I move out of state. John Zaharis met me at my property on time, as planned, and quoted me a very fair price for the work that needed to be done. Although I will be moving, John still treated me as if I were a long time customer.
His crew then exceeded my expectations once they arrived for the clean-up. Not only did they perform the clean-up to perfection, but they also performed diagnostics on my sprinkler system. Throughout their four hours on-site, they often checked in to make sure they were meeting my expectations and at the end they asked me to walk the property to make sure I was satisfied.
I could not be happier with their performance and this company. John and team do a wonderful job and Michelle in the office is a delight to speak with. I highly recommend Zaharis Landscaping.
