Similar to the review by Silas - I also scheduled a service call for our relatively new AC system (we purchased and installed two systems for $28,911 in Feb 2020). We also have Mauzy come out to "service" (basically inspect the system) every year for $356 to maintain the warranty. One of our systems is not cooling so I requested a service to check it out.
Our service window was between 8-12 (so I stayed home for the tech). No one called or showed up. When I called Mauzy - they said they were super busy. But how about a courtesy call or text to say "hi, we are super busy and running late, we would like to reschedule your service" - nothing. They could not even tell me when the tech could come out. Very annoying and disappointing for paying top $$$ for what I thought was a quality firm - not!

They have done two installs at my house in Escondido one for solar one for air conditioning. Maintenance was not set up properly on the solar and when it quit working we were not notified. We had an outrageous bill from San Diego gas and electric. SunPower had to come out and upgrade the system with updates. The air conditioner they installed has been leaking off and on for the last 3 years and today they tried to send me a bill to repair it for $9,000. It's only 3 years old. Lawyers will be involved with this latest debacle.

We were so happy with the work from Mauzy. The company kept us informed every step of the way. We needed new ducting, an AC unite and a new thermostat. The two men that installed worked very efficiently and were very thorough. The thermostat needed a technician the following day and he was able to fix the problem. Great experience and I will use them for all of the maintenance on the unit.

My wife works for Kaiser from our home office. Mauzy was scheduled to visit for a troubleshoot/repair of my Solar Inverter. My wife's shift ends at 3:15p. Mauzy cancelled my appointment the day of because their shift ends at 3:30 and therefore cannot service my system. When asked about rescheduling, "they're booked for months". Thanks for nothing. Apparently a matter of 15 minutes is too much for a possible repair job that generates revenue for your business. Dumb.

Lou in sales was great. He really worked to get my business. Pricing and warranty was better than two other big names and two small independents. Install was smooth and faster than I expected. They sent me the A TEAM who must ask for ALEX, THOMAS and JONATHAN where the best. I only replace one of my two systems but I know who will be doing number two. Ask for Lou then require Alex, Thomas and Jonathon if you want it right.

My heater/AC was dead. I called Mauzy. They had previously installed solar panels at my house. Rafael came two days later. He did an excellent job explaining the options. Three days after making my selection, Bren and Michael installed the new system. They tested it with me. They were very professional. Overall an excellent job by the Mauzy crew. I will use their services again.

Great experience using Mauzy. Trevor came out and gave us a bid to replace our old system that had died. They were very quick and responsive and professional. The three technician's sorry I cant remember their names but the were all great and need props for a job well done. They came out and installed the system were very knowledgeable and professional and did a great job. We would recommend this company to get a fair and honest bid.

I thought I could trust Mauzy but they took advantage of us. My husband and I are seniors and trusting individuals. For the AC, they charged hundreds of dollars for a part that costs in the twenties and told me the part would not have a 5 year warranty unless I added a hard start for a total repair cost of $1154.20. The part is a run capacitor but Mauzy changed the name to a secondary motor control.
My property manager friend shared with me the cost of the parts and also called Mauzy to complain about gouging old people. We have not heard back. Note: I do not blame the tech. He was doing the job he was assigned. I blame the company. They have their clients at a disadvantage when it's hot and AC is out.

Had an exceptional experience with Mauzy on the install of a new A/C unit at our home. Originally had them visit our home in September to get an estimate on everything, but wasn't in a position to act until this spring. Despite the wait, Michael Hart was cordial in staying in touch with us, just to make sure there wasn't anything more he could do.
He wasn't pushy or forceful. He allowed us to take our time in making this decision. When the time came he was even able to provide us with an even better deal based on other estimates we had received. It was a no stress experience that made us feel like our business was wanted the entire time. During the install Mark Curry and Luis were equally great to work with.
They took the time to explain things to us and when potential hiccups emerged, they were patient and worked with us to find a solution that didn't require additional challenges for us. Their insight into our home and the advice they provided on how to get the most out of our system down the road was very much appreciated. Above all, Mauzy's customer service, financing, and warranties provided peace of mind that is important when embarking on such a significant financial commitment. Would highly recommend them for any A/C needs and would gladly work with them should solar become an asset of interest in the future.

Five+ years Mauzy installed my HVAC unit. I contacted Mauzy because the touched screen on my thermostat was black. The service technician said the thermostat was bad.my opinion was to upgrade (very expensive) I agreed, with some skepticism. I cancelled the job and contacted another HVAC Company to inspect & troubleshoot my unit. Their technician showed me the outlet connecting my unit was faulty; and it was replaced. Unit is back to normal. I felt I was being taken advantage of and ripped off.

We decided to upgrade our heating and ac units this year. Of course this is after they stopped working a couple of years ago, and the units were 30 years old. Just wanted to say what a great job Chris and his team did at my house. Chris and his crew were very knowledgeable about the product they were installing. We called Mauzy when the fan on our heater wouldn't stop blowing. A serviceman came out, spent over 2 hours to decide what was wrong, charged us $99 for the evaluation and then quoted over $300 to replace a part. My husband found part online for $7. We had also asked for a quote for replacement of the hvac and their quote was $18,000! (ball park, he said).
Three years ago they gave us a quote for the same work for approximately $8500. This is an incredible increase in pricing in just 3 years! We checked around with several other companies who quoted much lower prices! Also, my husband called their office when the repairman did not show up today and was told he would be here tomorrow. My husband questioned their $18,000 quote for the total replacement.
A few minutes later he received a call stating they were cancelling the job tomorrow. they did not want to work with us because we questioned their pricing. How did this company get any award for " Most Ethnic company"? VERY DISSATISFIED!

SHAME ON MAUZY! Ripping off the elderly and disabled! First, Horible communication, to many contacts, miscomunication. Second, Outrageous repair costs. $460 to repalce a $7.50 relay (I got it from Grainger). Third, SHAME on Mauzy for trying to rip off the elderly. $18K+ to replace a small unit. At first I was shocked, then completely pissed off that they are profiting off of people on a fixed income. I'm going local.

First used this company in late 2019. Bought a 3 year service contract which they somehow didn't find in their records. Wanted to charge nearly $400 for a tuneup. We finally got that straight but the guy said he was doing us a favor that their extended contract actually begins on Jan 1 of the year you purchased so it was out of date but he graciously extended it for us--so tell me how a contract purchased in September started nine months before. Second, the "tuneup" included no maintenance--not even cleaning a dirty motor fan in the furnace. Third, the service guy recommended a bunch of parts replacement at a cost of more than $4,000.
I called another company. The guy took one look at the parts list and laughed. He proceeded to tell my why each was unnecessary before taking me to my units, connecting his testing devices and showing me that the individual parts were still functioning normally. I've changed companies!

Mauzy installed my solar and replaced my heating and AC system 4 years ago. I was impressed than and now with the care and service I received. My thermostat needs replacing. Andrew was on time, inspected and explained everything. He was professional and friendly. When I asked about installing additional ducts and vents, he was able to give me separate estimates on everything and could give me installation options. Andrew will be doing the work. And, when or if my system needs work again, I will call on no one else.

We're beyond happy with Mauzy! Our heater went out and it was unsafe to operate. Mario the coordinator explained everything in detail what our options are, he was very honest & never pressured us. We ended up buying a brand new heater and also had Mauzy relocate everything. Having a new baby and no heater also made this decision mandatory ASAP. We were very happy with our amazing installers Josh & Anthony, they got this huge job done in 2 and half days.

If I could give zero stars I would, and I rarely give yelp reviews at all but honestly what they did should literally be illegal. We booked a heater tune up because our heater isn't new and we thought a tune up might make it run more efficiently, we paid $60 for Mauzy to come to our house and lie about our furnace. They literally condemned it, turned it off and told us we were slowly poisoning our children with carbon monoxide (never mind our carbon monoxide alarms had obviously never been triggered).
They said we couldn't use it, and the only option was to replace it- then they quoted us about $9k over other estimates for a MAUZY brand heat pump. THEN they told us if we booked the replacement that day they'd give us 10% off. Literally paying us not to get a second opinion. Thanks goodness that was a huge red flag and we ignored their offer of a discount.
We tried to have SDG&E come give us an unbiassed opinion on their claims, but the worst part is after a licensed contractor has shut your unit down they're legally not allowed to look at it. So Mauzy literally blocked us from ever getting the free evaluations offered by SDG&E. So- for piece of mind we found two very kind generous competitors willing to come look at our furnace, one did a full evaluation and tested for CO2 (which Mauzy DIDN'T do!) and they both assured us that the furnace was perfectly fine, not at all dangerous.
They didn't take any money from us. You should be ashamed Mauzy, I still can't believe what a racket that was. all started because we were trying to be responsible and keep our heater running as safely and efficiently as possible.

They showed up on time, were personable and professional, and did everything they could to exceed our expectations. The day after the installation, the A/C went out. It was a Friday morning when I called to ask them to assist us.
I was told my message would be forwarded to the appropriate person and they would get back to me immediately. Someone dropped the ball and didn't deliver the message. We were in the middle of a heat wave and when I called back to check on the status on Friday afternoon, I was told the message was not delivered and they could not do anything for us until Monday.
I was not happy. After making a few more calls and emails trying to reach someone, I was contacted by a manager who assured me they would be out to look at the system the next morning. They arrived as promised and determined the A/C was fine, it was the electrical box that was previously "upgraded" by another contractor that had tripped. The issue was not Mauzy's fault, but they did everything they could to help me out and find a solution.
When they say this is a family business, they are being sincere. I was impressed by their desire to take care of their customer, even when the issue was not caused by their company. I will not hesitate to use and recommend Mauzy for any future home needs in the future. They have shown to be the most dependable and honest company with which I have ever had the pleasure of working.

Our experience with Mauzy was very positive. Lou was easy to work with on the proposals and provided good alternatives to consider. Lou was very responsive to questions and changes. Bren, Ryan and Mike handled the install and all were very courteous and professional. The installation of the furnace and the air conditioning units were all very tidy and mechanically efficient. Bren did a good job of walking us through the new systems and use of new thermostats.

Negative Review: Mauzy Heating - Air - Solar My wife wanted to have our A/C system checked out; energy costs are going up. The local Costco (La Mesa, Ca) is sponsoring Mauzy. They had a display and a representative in the store. We trust Costco. My wife signed up for a tuneup/checkup; $189. Our A/C is just over 40 years old. It has been maintained, cleaned, lubed and filters changed throughout its history.
The Mauzy technician/salesman arrived and proceeded to instill fear and dread into my wife. He said we needed to immediately replace our heating system (for about $20,000) or we would die an agonizing death from carbon monoxide poisoning. He didn't say it bluntly but implied same. And "here is a photo" to prove it of some blurry part in the combustion chamber.
My wife let him know I was in a wheelchair and needed heat. The Mauzy technician/salesman unplugged the furnace, turned off the gas and put an official looking, completely invalid, tag on the furnace; "Danger unsafe equipment. Do not operate, repair or replace." Scare tactics on steroids! He called back the next day, from the goodness of his tiny black heart, to tell us he had a special deal from his manager and could give us a 10% off but it was only good today.
I've seen used car sales slobs with more ethics than Mauzy. We reconnected the furnace. The next day, we had two other professionals come out to evaluate our system. They found nothing wrong, certainly nothing to warrant a complete Emergency Shutdown panic.
The Mauzy technician/salesman arrived and proceeded to instill fear and dread into my wife. When I was browsing the bill detail and I found out they charged literally $1170.08 for surge protector I was shocked. ( costs $30-$75 for the product, and $1170.08 is after discounted rate ), so i interested in finding why. The front desk said they will have someone to call us back, and today it's more than 2 weeks no one EVER called back. I think this company is way too expensive and it's a ripoff.

I hired Mauzy Heating to give me a diagnostic review of a wall heater that was not working. The technician determined that parts were no longer being made for this wall heater and suggested that I purchase a new heater from them. He quoted me a price of $2200 for the heater and installation. When he observed that I was shocked at the price, he discounted it to $1850.
I reluctantly agreed and he said they would order the heater and get back with me. In the meantime, and after he left, I went on the Internet and located the exact wall heater in my wall for sale at Lowe's for $290.00. So i guess the additional $1560 that was going to be charged by Mauzy was for installation, something that would maybe take two hours of time to accomplish? Needless to say, I felt I was being ripped off. I canceled my order the next day. And I will not call Mauzy Heating ever again.

We live in a manufactured home and noticed this winter our furnace was not lighting up. We called a company to come out and stated it was the original unit from 1991 and would most likely need to be replaced. We started calling around to get estimates and one of those companies was Mauzy which is right down the road from us. From the very beginning their estimator was professional and way more through than the other companies we had come out.
Their pricing was also the best for replacing the furnace and also the AC if we wanted since it was also the original unit. We elected to just do the furnace and had it scheduled. The day of the install their technicians were here at 7:30 on the dot and got right to work. During the beginning of the installation I received a phone call from their installation manager letting me know of a hiccup in the process with our AC unit being so old and using refrigerant that is no longer in common us, as a result the disconnection of the AC unit would be costly to recharge once the furnace was installed.
He asked if we were interested in replacing the AC and I said yes just at a later time, he offered to see if we could get any better pricing on the AC install if they did it today and he was able to come through. We saved money money and now have a brand new furnace and AC unit. The whole process from start to finish was smooth and was nice to support a local company right down the road from us. Would highly recommend!

I recently called Mauzy Heating and Air to get a $99 "HVAC tune-up" for my 1,600sq house and it ended up costing me $1,500. I quickly figured that the "Tune up" was actually just a disguised paid quote. There were no problems with the AC, however when the technician came, he said that the R22 had to be recharged ($623), the AC contractor had to be replaced ($351) and a secondary motor control ($518).
He also quoted me couple of prices for a new central AC ranging from $52,000 to $28,000! The technician was very pushy, and basically kept asking me which option I wanted to go for. I now know that the best option would have been to just ask him to finish his "tune up" and leave, however I gave in. I thought the "repair only" option was fair (compared to the rest of the outrageous prices).
I also figured it was going to be a lot of work but the work was done in 30min! I did not see any difference in the AC's performance, so I researched what was replaced - the cost of the parts was only $200 and was basically some freon and on/off switches! So I guess Mauzy's techs charge $1,300/hr? In any other company this service would have never exceeded $500. I was left feeling ripped off. Never again with this company!
He also quoted me couple of prices for a new central AC ranging from $52,000 to $28,000! The technician was very pushy, and basically kept asking me which option I wanted to go for. I now know that the best option would have been to just ask him to finish his "tune up" and leave, however I gave in. I thought the "repair only" option was fair (compared to the rest of the outrageous prices).
I also figured it was going to be a lot of work but the work was done in 30min! I did not see any difference in the AC's performance, so I researched what was replaced - the cost of the parts was only $200 and was basically some freon and on/off switches! So I guess Mauzy's techs charge $1,300/hr? In any other company this service would have never exceeded $500. I was left feeling ripped off. Never again with this company!

Just wanted to let you know that I am quite pleased with the job that Mauzy did regarding the installation of a new furnace in our attic. Both Jason and his partner (sadly, his name escapes me just now) were prompt, hard working, tidy and courteous. They helped out with my questions and concerns and some helpful suggestions.

I would like to thank Mauzy Heating, Air & Solar for an outstanding job they did for the installation on my two Rheem central air and heat units. Gary spent considerable amount of time with me on selecting the best units for my large home. Jason, Sergio, and Jake installed the units including new ductwork in a highly professional manner.

I wish to commend you on the professional way your crew took care of our new heating and air conditioning system. The men arrived on time and introduced themselves to my wife and me. I then showed them where everything was and they went right to work. They cleaned everything up as they completed the demolition and started assembling the new equipment.
