Great service. Consistent, reasonable prices. And locally owned. I may purposefully lock myself out of my home just to do more business with these people!

Today Nathaniel made my visit extremely easy and got everything done in like 5 minutes! Definitely coming here for all the key stuff in my life.

Daniel did a fantastic job rekeying the cores I brought in (was even able to extract them from the housings for me, saving me from needing the specific tools), and ground the custom key blanks I brought in perfectly! He clearly knew his way around locks and even added a security pin for me when I asked for one! All this for very reasonable prices - I'll definitely be coming here for any future lock-related business!

I'd advise calling in if you plan to visit the in-person location - they sometimes close up shop when doing house calls, so make sure they're available! I had to come back after a few hours but it was definitely worth the wait! Also, bring cash - seems like their PoS system is down at the moment.

Ballard Lock and Key went above and beyond for me! I had grabbed the wrong set of keys when hopping out of my truck, and left my vehicle keys on my seat. I walked into Ballard Square to get my tabs just as I realized it. I ran back outside to a parking ticket on my truck, and my keys staring back at me through a locked door. Just then it started to rain, ahhhh the good ol PNW.

I looked up, saw the Ballard Lock and Key sign and gave them a call. They ran right out and helped me get back into my truck. Nathaniel was truly a blessing! Little did we know, my car had an extra safety feature that immediately re-locks the doors when not using a key. It took a few attempts, but finally I was able to retrieve my keys from the seat and shut off the alarm. Nathaniel offered to make me an extra Key to keep in my wallet for 'just in case' moments in the future. I couldn't have asked for more respectable, quick, and understanding service!

I called Ballard Lock & Key to find out if they could fix my key pad lock. They asked me to send over a picture and within a couple of minutes I got a phone call back. They advised me that by the time they came out and replaced the inner workings of the lock, I could easily just buy a new one and replace it myself. In this time of very thin wallets, I really appreciate their honesty. Thank you Ballard Lock & Key for saving me $$$. I will definetely call you again if I need a locksmith.

After reading several five star reviews I decided to go with Ballard Lock & Key to add a deadbolt on a metal door and am happy to add another five star review. The tech Aaron was very prompt, efficient, personable and respectful of my home. I will be keeping their phone number nearby in case I need to call on Ballard Lock & Key again

They came out today, on a holiday, to help me with a key locked in my car. They were responsive, fast and super friendly. I highly recommend them!

HIGHLY RECOMMEND. Fantastic service at a great price. Our lock jammed and the door wouldn't open - it's a silly complicated non-standard European lock that the former owner installed and Bob was unfazed, fixing it fast and at a great price, including doing a quick run for parts. He also tightened a second lock for me as a favor which I really appreciated. Felt very well taken care of and won't use any other locksmith.

Clearly this place isn't hurting for five star reviews - but I'm giving them another! I couldn't find a review for their key duplicating services (thrilling stuff!) so here it is. They are awesome at this as well. I went in with a beat up old van key, and the guy was very kind and went above and beyond. He remarked that my key was obviously very old and the ridge details had worn down, and asked if I was having any issues with the doors as they could be caused by this.

He then made me a straight copy of my key, as well as a key that was a bit thicker and closer to what my key probably originally looked like. What?! Those dumb key kiosks don't do that. Also, they usually don't even work. Also, the guy working here was a lot cuter than those kiosks. The prices somehow felt even cheaper, and the service was top notch. One last thing. they have TINY SWORDS that you can have your house key duplicated onto! Yes, my key is now a sword. You never knew you wanted that, but you do.

Highly recommend Ballard Lock and Key! They were able to fit us into their schedule quickly when we needed a rental unit rekeyed. When they arrived, they were very friendly and professional. Work was completed fast and they gave me ample spare keys. Pricing was extremely fair and there were no surprise costs at all. I'll definitely be using Ballard Lock and Key for all future rekeying needs.

Customer service and craftsmanship are far above any expectations you might have! They're so helpful and kind that it almost makes you want to get locked out or lose your keys. It would be a mistake to go anywhere else!

Bob and Aaron are some of the nicest people I've ever met in Seattle. Moved into a new place where there were sub contractors were allowed access to a master key, which I didn't know about for 2 weeks living here until a neighbor told me today. 5:45pm I call and Bob picks up. He said he could come tomorrow and i asked if he could come today. He gave me a call back and let me know someone was on the way.

I know I wouldn't have been able to sleep at all if I knew my locks weren't changed ASAP. Aaron came over and helped me re-key my front door and helped me install a complicated Yale Lock. He asked if I wanted to rekey back door but suggested I save money given I won't be using it. The Yale lock for back door took up almost 2 hours alone given there were no paper instructions - Aaron did not leave until everything was set up correctly (did full blown factory reset & downloaded/paired all the apps/tied device to wifi).

I am so grateful for Aaron's willingness to come over here on short notice, him not giving up on me and my lock, and Bob's ability to understand and empathize with the situation I was in. Thank you both!

Thank you Ballard Lock & Key. I was locked out of my loft this afternoon, without my cell or anything other than my dog for that matter. One of my neighbors was kind enough to call Ballard Lock & Key for assistance saying he'd had them help him with a lock out in the past.

If you want super knowledgeable folks and friendly service, this is the place! As the owner of an old house here in Ballard, my doors are weird, nonstandard (tough to find) dimensions. The people at Ballard Lock and Key sent me home with new hardware that fit great. Also, since I was planning to install the items, they gave me pointers that really helped!

Professional in every way! Punctual in arriving. Expert knowledge and great analytical skills. Very precise in his problem solving - no wasted time. All needed tools and parts were either in his bag or in his truck! Positive attitude at all times and left the job site totally clean and fresh in appearance at the conclusion of the job.

Oh man, these guys really saved my bacon. My keys were locked in my car, and I had a can't miss appointment. Within 12 minutes, there were there, popped the door open, and even charged a reasonable fee.
