Early last month, we (my wife and I) started preparing to have our 2-story single house exterior repainted. From Yelp we selected 6 painting contractors to begin with. Among the 6 contractors we contacted and got estimates/quotes/proposals from, eventually we decided on Sunwest Painting for the following reasons. These are also part of the crucial information they provided upfront. (1) The Dunn-Edwards Evershield paint (made in the USA!) they've been recommending and using.

From the product brochures they provided and based on our Google research, we learned what really matters in the paint specifications. *** The durability, coverage and adhesion; *** The protection against moisture penetration and UV color fade; *** The dirt pick-up resistance; *** The gloss retention. (2) The painting warranty. In Sunwest's proposal and in their company brochures they made it clear that they provide 5-Year limited Warranty for one coat painting and 7-Year limited Warranty for two coats painting.

We didn't get such warranty from other quotes/estimates. When we called some of them we were verbally told 1 year, 2 years or 5 years warranty. Later on we found out that this kind of warranty is directly tied with the quality of the paint they are going to use. (3) Upfront they provided a copy of workers compensation/certificate of insurance liability.

This is very important to avoid any dispute or even lawsuit if any injury happens to the painters since most of the time they work on tall ladders and on the roof of the 2-story house. (4) The overall good enough Yelp reviews. (5) The relatively reasonable price. As expected, Sunwest didn't let us down and they did an excellent job. Sunwest's boss Alonso showed up on site almost every working day, playing a role of the project management and the quality control as well as material delivery.

One day one of his employees had to be 2 hours late for some reason, Alonso filled in and worked from 7:30 to 9:30 AM. They also took our daily feedback seriously and took corrective actions in time. That's why at the end of the project we didn't do a walk-through but sat down directly with Alonso to sign the related documents and make the payment to Sunwest.

In a word, what we spent repainting our house exterior has paid off. Below are two photos: One was taken during the painting, the other was taken the next day after the project was completed.

I looked into Sunwest Painting initially about 2 years ago to have them repaint the exterior of my house, then Covid. Had them out again for a revised estimate a few months back and finally pulled the trigger. They are responsive, overly communicate (which I love) and have an overall great team. Super friendly and did what they said they would do and finished the job in a timely manner.

Happy with their process - they made it easy to select colors, told me where to go, who to speak with, etc. In terms of their bid compared to two others that I received, they came in the middle, and in my opinion was worth every penny since they made it so easy. When I did the walk-thru after they were done with my husband (and we are picky and particular) there was not one thing I needed to have them come back for!

Would definitely recommend them and plan to use them for painting my fence outside and some interior projects in the future. Thank you Denise, Mayra, Jacob and the team who did the actual work! Fantastic job!

I called them to get an estimate for painting done for our house. The front desk lady who picked my call was very unpleasant and rude towards talking politely and giving me quote. She gave high numbers in a rush and said she would proceed to discuss further if estimate suits our budget. She was in a hurry to cut my call. She said they are not a cheap company.

Well let me tell you lady, I'm not cheap either. You are not the sole painting company existing in this area offering quality service. Quality starts with good communication first. [EDIT] Respect is a 2-way street Luis. It should be shown to earn. I started a normal call to get quote, I didn't even say anything impolite to get called cheap and being in hurry to cut call.

I had to repeat asking the prices to write them down, the lady was in such a hurry to cut the call even before spending time to patiently talk. I have talked to at least 10 more painters after calling you and how my experience was with them. I wrote my review only after that. If you value your yelp review so much then you should consider giving professional treatment likewise.

I am glad I don't have to work with someone who calls customer problematic and unfit based on a yelp review defensively instead of trying to understand the problem quoted.

We used several contractors for numerous projects in our home purchase for the past 8 months and Sun West is hands down one of the best. Even during this pandemic, while other businesses say there is labor shortage, supply shortage and every other excuse out there to not do a good job, we experienced non of that with Sun West. The scheduling was done well, very accommodating to our needs and timing.

They provide digital renders of the colors you select and also do large physical swatches on your house. The cherry on top is that this is family owned and run, so they care about quality and service. Luis, Cecilia, Alonzo, Corina, Denise - all great people. After they finished everything and left, I had a change of heart and wanted some trim color added to corbels that I had told them to leave before.

I sent them an email and right away they agreed to return and paint them. Seriously AMAZING. They didn't make me feel like I was inconveniencing them. A few things to note about the painting crew: they are very neat and clean. At the end of each day, they make sure to clean up and put everything to the side. Everything is carefully covered and taken care of.

They work quickly and do not waste any time. Everyone on our street was impressed. One of our neighbors commented that "they didn't realize they were even there". You have to live a company like this. We will be using them for Interior projects and they will be the ones we recommend to everyone. They are extremely busy but they will treat you as valued, no matter what. You won't regret selecting them.

Not impressed by their work. Let me with a sloppy job they wont standup to and fix it. Their convenience comes before client needs. Maybe because it was a small job. Their attitude and quality might be different for larger or recurring jobs? Deny, minimize, and blame vs. be a standup guy and deliver with actions what you commit with words. Anyways. Sunwest painted the exterior trim of my house last year, and came back this week to paint the master bathroom, which also needed some replacement door trim. Both projects were drama-free and completed on-time/on-budget. It was very easy to communicate with Luis and his team, and to get answers to my many questions. And most importantly, the work is of excellent quality. I'm really happy and will use them again!

We initially had some communication problems but Maiya (don't know if I have the correct spelling) and Baulio saved the day. Excellent employees, very responsive once we got going. They painted the outside of our house and did a great job. Would highly recommend them.

Paint was good for few years. Now that part of garage trim is peeling due to direct sun light (or poor prep work by painters) I am having a hard time reaching Luis and their office crew. [EDIT] I heard back from Sun West. They were too busy to respond to my email and text, but boy were they quick to respond to my Yelp review. Needless to say, I am going to use another painter for this job.

Luis and the Sunwest team recently painted 4 bedrooms in our new home and we were so pleased with the entire experience - from initial communication to the actual work. They were able to meet our tight timeframe, despite their busy schedule, and all of our bedrooms look great! We'll definitely contact Sunwest for any future projects.

I worked with a number of contractors during our remodel. Sunwest was the one I enjoyed working with most. They are beyond professional. Luis provided us the initial estimate and was also on-site during the painting to make sure everything went well. We consulted with Denise over Zoom during our color selection process. Denise was very patient with us while we tried to select our color pallet and even made another trip to a nearby paint store so we could see different options on our wall.

They even referred me to a great roofer. Alonso, the owner, also called to make sure the job was done perfectly. I felt very well taken care of. The paint job came out great. I Just wanted to update my star rating. If I could give a 4.5 star rating, I would. I believe they are still a great painting company, but I did noticed a paint smudge left on a wall not to be painted. Sunwest painting wanted to immediately fix the issue, when notified, but because the smudge was not big, we felt it was unnecessary, and will be fix it ourselves. Of course, we will definitely hiring them again to paint another room.

This company is the first company I have used in the years of property management that exhibited the professionalism that should be the standard in the industry. ALWAYS on time, courteous, and professional. I have been in San Jose since 81 and highly recommend there services.

Sunwest Painting provided the highest quality of craftsmanship to paint the exterior of our house, including window trim and stucco. Sunwest had excellent, responsive communication throughout the project. Their family team was extremely patient and provided helpful counsel during the decision-making process of the project. From start to finish, Sunwest offered extensive preparation work, high quality paint, and remained dedicated to their workmanship up to our final inspection.

Sunwest Painting have done three separate painting jobs for me now and each time I've been extremely pleased with the quality of their workmanship which is high praise from me because I'm a perfectionist! Their workers are careful, courteous, and reliable. if they say they will be at your house at 8.00 am they will be exactly on time. They are conscientious about protecting your home and spend the time needed to do the prep required for a good finish. Luis Ponce always answers his cell or returns a call very promptly and is keen to keep customers satisfied.

If there are any concerns he's on it it right away. Their prices are reasonable and their office seems to be run efficiently. Estimates, contract agreements, and payments can be quickly and easily done online. I Highly recommend Sunwest Painting.

Great value, service, and overall excellent experience. Luis the owner was the first person to respond from all of the painters I contacted. I needed a job done quickly and he was able to get a painter out to me in a few days. Hector was extremely professional, friendly, and did a great job with our guest room/office. It looks really, really, good. I appreciate the quality of work and the efficiency in communication. Will definitely hire this company again!

My review is very overdue, but I have to chime in and say how great Sunwest was. They painted my 1900s home in September 2020 and restored its beauty. The process was great. They were quick to come out for an estimate and Denise was helpful with the color consultation. I had a small issue a few months later that was covered under the warranty and they came out quickly to fix it. Love how my house looks now!

Mediocre job, not easy to work with. unprofessional see photo one of the painter said another person will come and pick but none came to pick their trash and I have dispose. It would been better they asked trash it but they lied

Luis and the team from SunWest Painting completed the exterior painting project on my 2-story home and did a terrific job. The team power-washed the exterior, then patched and taped up the windows before painting. They had 3-4 team members here each day until the job was done. They are a top notch, professional company and took the care that was needed to make sure the job was done right. I had a great experience with Sunwest Painting. Luis provided an estimate quickly and was very responsive to my questions/comments. Walter, who came out to do the job, was on time, professional and did a great job. I would definitely work with Sunwest Painting in the future. Job: Holes were cut in drywall for a cable pull in the ceiling and the wall. Walter matched the paint (two tones), patched the holes, matched the texture (old world style) and painted. Sunwest is absolutely amazing! Luis is so responsive and kind. We had some scheduling blips and things had to be fluid, but I always was kept up to date on what was going on. They did a beautiful job on our home, and every member of their team was incredibly helpful and professional. We'd recommend Sunwest to anyone! The photo hardly does it justice due to the foggy day, but they have excellent crisp trim lines and were so careful to protect the area around where they were painting. Also, their respect for COVID procedures was impeccable from start to finish.

Sunwest Painting was hired by my Solar contractor to work on the stucco around the main electric panel that was upgraded as part of the solar install. I was not happy with the work that the Solar company had done in finishing up the stucco and insisted that they hire a professional painter to fix it. Sunwest came out to fix it and did an amazing job at finishing up the stucco and matching the color as closely as possible. Luis, the owner of the company who stopped by to check up on the job and also came back to paint on a Saturday seems like a very honest and straightforward guy who was interested in doing the best he could.

He even gave me a quote for repainting the exterior of our house while he was here doing the job. In the end, the stucco finish has turned out to be much better than I expected. Thanks for a job well done.

Luis and his crew did an outstanding job on painting the exterior of my home. When we met with Luis, he listened to our concerns and made sure we got what we wanted. We had minor repairs to our home and he provided the repairs in the quote. He works collaboratively with the client and offers suggestions when asked. He explained step-by-step what would happen and then provided us a well written document that explains everything.

The crew worked carefully to make sure the house was prepared for painting (repairs, power wash, scraping, sanding) before beginning painting. I felt comfortable in approaching painters with changes. The foreman, Guillermo, is a very nice man and aims to please! During the project, Luis checked the progress texting me each time he came out. Before deciding to go with Sunwest Painting, we got 5 quotes.

The project price was not the lowest, but it wasn't the highest either. After seeing how hard this company works to please their customers and the excellent job they do, I believe the price was just right! I would highly recommend Sunwest Painting over any other painting company.

Luis at Sunwest Painting painted two bedrooms, a living room, and entry way. He also repaired a stair way banister that was loose and repaired cracks in our wooden fireplace and painted it. Luis' crew (two painters) arrived on time and in one day finished all the work. They were very clean and neat. They spread plastic on the carpet and left no debris and cleanup for me when they left.
