Katz Builders

We hired Katz Builders for a fairly comprehensive remodel of our home, including a new kitchen, updates to the master bedroom, great room and dining room, and a slew of interior and exterior maintenance items (new roof, windows, etc). We are thrilled with the results and appreciate the great care and craftsmanship of the work. There were a lot of moving parts to the project, complicated by the fact that the project was being done during the Covid pandemic. The Katz team were terrific throughout the process.

We have worked on many small renovation projects on our house with Katz and we couldn't be happier. The subcontractors they work with are the highest quality and they always get their work done in a timely manner. I would recommend them to anyone needing large, small, or full home renovations!

Our house needed a complete makeover on the interior including floors, painting, lighting, and complete kitchen and master bath remodel, as well as many repairs. It was a big job with a lot of moving parts. The Katz team helped us plan the project and work out all the details up front so that the job could be performed as we wanted and without budget surprises. They communicated with us on a regular basis throughout the project and were a joy to work with. We are very happy with our 'new' home.

Lucy is amazing and you will feel heard and sense of total transparency with Katz. The wife and I called Katz Builders to inquire about a build and I have to say the communication was so nice. Lucy spoke with such confidence and sincerity which made very comfortable. In the current elevated market that ATX is in she def won our business over should we proceed with the build route. Thank you Lucy for bringing clarity for all of our newbie questions!

We couldn't find a house that had the kitchen or master bath or closets we wanted so we settled on a house in Circle C that I believed provided the best bones to remodel and get everything that we wanted in our new home. I had met both Joel and Lucy Katz previously as a result of my work with a trade association and knew of their great reputation amongst their peers.

The Katz's were only one of two firms that I contacted and discussed my ideas and our project. After talking to both firms, I knew that I wanted to go with Joel and Lucy. You want Katz Builders if you want someone that can take your ideas, improve them and turn them into a plan on paper with a workable budget. I chose Katz Builders because of their reputation for quality work, attention to detail and ensuring that everything had to be done right and they exceeded my expectations! Katz Builders turned the house we bought into the home that my wife and I wanted. Without a doubt, I would use them again!

Katz Builders finished a complete remodel of the interior our home in December 2019. We are so very grateful that the finished product is beautiful, well-crafted and was done before the pandemic started. They really worked with us to get back into the house as soon as possible when our short-term rental was ending. The end product made every room more livable and added much needed living space for our kids.

We had a great relationship with our foreman who anticipated almost every question and concern we had during the process. Further, we feel blessed to have worked with Joel and Lucy who deeply care about the Katz reputation and about keeping their clients happy even after the build is over.

After deciding that we were going to add on to our home, my husband and I started looking for a builder. We went online, checked references and general costs. Katz Builders of Austin, TX was one of four companies we chose to interview. We contacted Katz Builders and a woman named Lucy called us back. She interviewed my husband over the phone for about an hour.

We heard nothing back after this interview. This was the only company of the four we chose that did not get back in touch with us. I asked my husband to try one more time with Katz, because I believed they were an established company that was qualified to do the work. Lucy set up a conference call for us and on the date and time established, she was a no show.

I called the company and was given the option to call another number. When I asked for Lucy, she came onto the line and asked me how I got the number. I explained to her that it was on the company answering machine. She gave me several excuses for not making the conference call and then proceeded to interview us again. She never really answered any of our questions.

I told her that this relationship was not going to work out for us and she tried to convince us otherwise. I finally had to say goodbye and end the call. The lack of professionalism and follow-through by Katz Builders was disappointing and surprising. We were ready to commit on a large project and they completely dropped the ball!

The Katzes built and updated my parents home, so when it was time for us to make some changes to our builder-grade home in east Austin we didn't even think about calling anyone else. Everyone on the team was amazing to work with through every step of the project. We started out just wanting to put in new windows to bring more light into our living room and quickly found that we also wanted to personalize our kitchen and inject some real personality into the place through electrical, tiling, cabinet work, paneling, and completing overhauling our pantry and kitchen island.

What we got was a transformed living, cooking, and dining area that meets and exceeds every aspect of our original vision. Every crew that arrived at our house was courteous, respectful, clean, prompt, communicative, and above all, EXTREMELY talented with the utmost care and attention to detail. We worked with Greg primarily during the project and he truly put my mind at ease and is to credit for the super smooth experience we enjoyed.

You'd think having your entire downstairs out of order with a 10-month-old would be a nightmare, but given the steady, beautiful progress and frequent communication, the 5 weeks of the project just flew by. How do I know they're great contractors to work with? Everything they said would happen, happened, and any changes to schedule were communicated WELL in advance so that there were no surprises in terms of timeline.

And when there WERE little surprises, as will always be the case when you start tearing into walls, Greg and his teams took care of them, often only making me aware after the everything was back to good or when there was a "this or that" decision to make! I never once felt like I had to brainstorm or "solve" a problem or feel inconvenienced by changes to the plan.

And when I was the one introducing changes to the plan (additions of cabinet painting, changes to electrical scope, etc.), Greg's answer was always "of course!" and he took care of the details from there. It was truly awesome. I can't say enough great things about working with the team at Katz Builders. it was by far one of the very best investments we've ever made, in our home and in our happiness living in it.

Ten years and still loving our home built by Katz Builders! Hard to believe we have been in our home for this long already. At this 10-year mark, we wanted to share our thoughts about our overwhelming satisfaction with our home and the exceptional, ongoing follow-up attention we have received from Katz Builders.

I have the pleasure of working with Joel and Lucy Katz for many years and also have served with them on the Home Builders Association of Greater Austin Board of Directors and various committees. Joel Katz and his company built our Westlake home and his company and wife, Lucy Katz, have been just wonderful to work with over the last eight years. Joel Katz is one of the best builders in Austin. I've worked with him since the early 90's. First on Lakeplace Lane off of Stratford and then on Woodcutters. Both buyers were physicians. Joel added an attic addition for one of the doctors at his cost which significantly increased the value of the home.
