Gilday is a first rate renovation and remodeling contractor. We had an extensive project including significant demolition, redesign and finish work. The quality of the work was exceptional. They were responsive with excellent project management and finish carpentry work. While not the cheapest option, they are clearly the most professional. A pleasure to work with and strongly recommended for any project.

We hired Gilday to do a fairly large renovation of our home in AU park/DC. This involved the addition of a master suite, family room and basement as well as removing an old side porch to become an office space. From the attention to our existing landscaping and preservation, to making our indoor space liveable while all of this was going on. I can't say enough.

If you value quality craftsmanship, attention to detail, and customer service, Gilday is your contractor. We really wanted to preserve the "1930 feeling" of this house and keep its charm. They did that. Their standards are high and you should be prepared for what that means financially. I always felt that we had the ultimate decision on the designs and selections.

We worked closely with the architect and designers to keep within our budget. There are always changes that come along and those were always our changes! We are now four years out from the project completion and I still call Gilday about small issues in the house. I feel like Tom and Kevin, the designers, and the project manager became like family to us.

They take pride in their work and it shows. Having a point person with your on-site project manager always on the job, every day, is a huge bonus. Gilday does not use a large crew.these are trusted craftspersons and contractors that Gilday select to work on your renovation. I am grateful we made this choice, and get many compliments on our home.

Gilday did a spectacular job of designing and renovating my kitchen. They transformed a dark, cramped, dysfunctional space into a beautiful, bright, well-designed room that is a joy to work and dine in. Everyone with whom I dealt at Gilday was professional, competent and pleasant. The designers had creative solutions to knotty problems that none of the other contractors and designers I consulted were able to deal with satisfactorily.

The craftsmen and subcontractors all adhered to the highest quality standards. The firm stuck to the budget and timetable. Most remarkably, they went far beyond expectations in dealing with problems both before and after project completion. Over a year after the project was finished, I called with a couple of small issues and questions; everything was dealt with graciously and promptly.

One of the items I had trouble with was no longer under manufacturer's warranty; Gilday nevertheless replaced it immediately and without charge. After having had several less than ideal home renovation experiences, I was surprised and delighted by the high level of service provided by Gilday and recommend them enthusiastically.

Over the past 11 years, we've used Gilday for two major projects -- refinishing our basement and renovating our hall bath -- as well as for numerous smaller projects. Most memorably, Gilday repaired the damage when our 70-year-old living room ceiling suddenly and inexplicably collapsed on Christmas morning, earning my eternal gratitude when one of their employees came over that morning to secure the room. Gilday's work is meticulous, and they stand by it long after it's done.

Their designs are clever in the way they adapt old spaces to meet modern needs. Their employees are not only highly skilled but nice too, especially important given that they can spend all day in your house for weeks. We'll use Gilday again when we have another project. They're just the best.

I have spent a good chunk of my lifetime and nearly my entire professional career working with construction contractors of varying size and focus and my experience with Gilday Renovations was my first such experience that was completely stress-free. We contracted with Gilday for a nearly whole first floor renovation of our home, including a complete kitchen renovation, that was completed ahead of schedule and right on budget. Gilday was even able to pivot, mid-construction, to respond to an emergency flood in our basement and they were able to coordinate the remediation and repairs without impacting the remodel budget or schedule at all. Gilday Renovations performed a complete renovation --top to bottom --on our 1972 contemporary home in Bethesda. Gilday is the finest caliber firm to work with! The team that created our home--from owner Tom Gilday to the project manager, from the interior designers to every single sub-contractor that was under the Gilday wing --were the upmost professionals with the highest standard of work, ethics and knowledge.

The commitment to detail, budget, timeline, artistic and architectural integrity--plus their outstanding listening skills with no ego blocking the creative process--rendered our home a stunning success. We highly recommend them for any renovation you may be considering.

I called them to schedule an appt for a basement reno, first he told me it would be roughly $150K, then he called to tell me it was going to be $225k- all before coming out to the house. Then when I kept the appt, he rescheduled on me and then they were a no show. Not very professional at all. Mr. Gilday's response is correct. They did apologize afer they no-showed.

But being as that they had rescheduled, uped the estimate by about 50% and then no-showed, I did not feel the need to wait around for another appointment. I figured if we had this many problems coordinating a first meeting, it was unlikely the rest of my experience was going to be pleasant. This is a huge project, with excavation, underpinning and design. I really wanted someone I could trust and liked.

Gilday did a great job for us. We bought a mess of an old house and now it is fantastic. They're architects helped us design it and then they spent 6 months getting everything done. They were not our cheapest option but they worked with us to help us get exactly what we wanted/needed (including pointing us in the right direction when we weren't sure) at a good price.

Then they did very high quality work, finished when they said they would (indeed were nearly on schedule to the day the entire time) and for the price they promised. And they've stood by there work since - any little issue we've had even months after the work was completed - they come the next day to make sure everything is straightened out. CAn't say enough good things. Would recommend to anyone.
