Re-piping
Report
A full house re-pipe consists of completely replacing or bypassing the existing water distribution system in your home. This includes the area beginning where the exterior and interior pipes meet and ending at various fixtures throughout the residence. Re-piping the home is sometimes the only permanent solution for a defective piping system.

Top of their Game. From estimate to project completion Doug Herrell Plumbing deserves more stars than can be given. Doug and his Son arrived ahead of time for the initial walk through/estimate, and even though I, the original owner had detailed pictures of framing and plumbing before drywall, his trained eye told him exactly what would have to be done and what holes would be cut for installation.
He volunteered to install new bath/shower valves and water heater w/o labor cost because of their age, and explained the overall project in detail which would include permit, all new PEX pipe, shut off valves, hose bibs, and final lines to each fixture including hoses to laundry, and follow up drywall repair. The most amazing thing is that the project can be done in a day.
I must admit to being a procrastinator I have had 5 previous slab leaks repaired, and the last three the plumber has said you really need to re-pipe as they will just keep coming. I noticed this 6th one in my water usage which had tripled and of course the micro dial on the meter was moving with all fixtures off. I excepted his detailed bid which arrived within an hour after leaving via email and got all the permit paperwork notarized and delivered to his wife Amy (who does a lot of the behind scenes work), and a date scheduled for the next month.now to clean the garage, closets and under sinks for access; pipes will be in attic with drops to each fixture.
I was really agonizing over our free standing island sink and dishwasher which did have a previous repair using the exiting copper pipe as a conduit for a 3/8 inch plastic pipe; if they were unable to do the same an additional charge would be incurred to break the slab or drop a column from the ceiling for the re-pipe. Fortunately they were able to install the cold line using the old refrigerator water line conduit for the cold and I breathed a big sigh of relief when Doug said they would not have to break into our nice tile floor. Doug is on site for the whole project with a very well trained adept crew.
They arrive and roll out floor protection in all work areas and hit the ground running, lots of noise initially getting that needed access, then quieter for all the detailed fixture hookup, nice new laundry valves, and fixture shutoffs well secured. Doug was even able to install the new Master Bath shower valve through the excising opening in the shower with no rear access and no tile cutting.amazing.
One thing I wasn't expecting was the PEX is insulated throughout the house both for heat transfer (since they are now in a hot attic) and noise, pipes were further secured with spray foam so as not to move around in the walls. Most old copper above the slab is removed or sealed off. By late afternoon they were ready for system test; they use compressed air in the lines not water and no leaks were found, then the water is introduced, and Hot and Cold were all working as expected. FIRST CLASS operation.
Oh and I might add, gas water heaters are not available at local supply houses, and need to be ordered from Homedepot or Lowes, I ordered one from HD, and had the heater waiting, but when the crew cut opened the box it looked like it had been hit with a baseball bat, and even the temp control was damaged, they had to reinstall the old heater and I may have to get another plumber to install a new one as re-piping is all they currently do. Doug did say if I am flexible time wise they could likely slip by after another job, and still install the heater at no cost as planned; I hope this is the case as the copper/PEX installation at the water heater is so nicely done with the latest copper crimp fittings I would hate to trust another plumber with the task.
Permit inspection passed with no issues. Dry wall repair which is normally done the same day of inspection had a COVID delay, but we can live with that, just having no leak is such a relief.

Doug and crew re-piped our entire condo after we experienced two slab leaks. They also replaced our water heater. They are great! They arrive on time and get to work. They are organized and work efficiently, and the result is top notch. The preliminary work (scheduling, communications, etc.) was outstanding. Service: Water heater installation

After we had (another) slab leak, we suspected the time had finally come to repipe. Some folks on NextDoor had recommended Doug Herrell Plumbing, so we gave them a call -- and couldn't be happier with the job Doug and his team did. We were also thrilled to learn they specialize in Pex, which we'd researched and knew we wanted. Amy in the office was fantastic too -- she first recommended a great leak detection specialist (Jim Carroll Plumbing); once we decided to repipe instead of repair, Doug came out for the estimate -- we liked him and his ethic straight away.
It was a stressful time for us -- learning how to take care of an older house has been pretty overwhelming -- but Amy clearly and patiently guided us through scheduling, prep and permitting then post-repipe inspection and drywall repair (they work with a talented guy, Jeff Snyder, who closes up the holes the next day). Communication was solid, plus Amy, Doug and his team were all generous with answers to our many questions along the way. No surprises, just good people, good work, fair price, honest answers. This is who you want doing your repipe.

We had an incredible experience with this company repiping our house. The whole crew was fantastic. They were quick, clean, and respectful of our home. Doug went above and beyond for us. He found a safety problem with the water heater unrelated to the repipe and took care of it for us. We're thankful and relieved that our house is now safer because of Doug.
I'm beyond impressed with this company. They made having a repipe a genuinely pleasant experience. On top of everything, they treated our toddler with so much kindness, it made his day. Couldn't recommend this company enough!

Couple years ago I had a slab leak and contacted Doug Herrell Plumbing. I asked if they did leak detection, they do not but Amy recommended someone. In May I decide it was time to do the re-pipe. Doug & Mac came to my home, gave me an estimate. June 25, the job was completed. Doug;s team was professional, friendly, cleaned up and got the job done in less than 7 hours. Amy (office manager) communicated every step throughout the process and even called the day of the re-pipe. Inspection passed the next day, drywall was repaired (by Jeff, their recommendation). If you are in need of a re-pipe, I highly recommend Doug Herrell Plumbing.

If you need a plumber, I would highly recommend Doug. From the moment he came and gave us the quote, I had a positive experience. He was knowledgeable and explained the process and gave a very fair estimate. Amy was also super helpful whenever I called the office and she carried out the paperwork part just fine. Doug and his crew were precise, personable, and proficient. Doug Herrell Plumbing should be your first call for any plumbing needs.

I have an older home that had a couple of slab leaks and needed to get a full re-pipe done. I reached out to Doug Herrell Plumbing initially and spoke with Amy. She was very responsive and sent Doug out for the estimate. After getting a few more estimates I decided to go with Doug. I wasted a lot of time waiting on the others. From the onset I really liked Doug and how he said he take care of the issue.
I called Amy to move forward with the job. She immediately sent me the necessary paperwork and scheduled the appointment for the following week. I liked the fact that the job would only take 1 day to complete, with the final inspection the next day. Others were telling me it would take a week (without the drywall being done). I didn't have that kind of time.
He and Amy referred me to Jeff his drywall expert who came in right after the inspection and closed the holes. He was very professional and did an outstanding job. Doug and his team went above and beyond my expectations. A big thanks. I would highly recommend them.

We hired Doug Herrell Plumbing to re-pipe our house. He arrived on time and introduced his team to us. We had a concern of a very expensive worse case scenario with regard to my island sink. We left the house to run errands, and Doug was kind enough to call me shortly after, stating they were able to run the pipes as planned, without cutting through the floor.

I have been using, Doug Herrell Plumbing, for about 3 years now. I would not use anyone else, in fact he is in my cell phone under Plumber. When I had an emergency he was very quick to respond. He has given me great advice and tells me what I should look out for in future repairs. I just love the Doug Herrell Plumbing, they are very honest and affordable.

Dear Doug, Amy and the Crew, I wanted to thank you of the wonderful repipe job that you did at my home on Friday. Everyone was very helpful and professional. The work was executed in a most efficient and professional manner. Your company was very thorough in all that you did from my first phone call to completion of the job.
