Waterline Repair
Report
Water Lines that need to be repaired or replaced from the city water meter to your home can cause damage to your homes foundation and make for costly water bills. If your homes water service line is made of zinc-plated iron (galvanized) pipe like many homes built before the mid 1960's it is susceptible to rusting through and springing a leak.

Working with Akers was fantastic from start to finish. I needed a new PEX/Copper line ran to my house to replace an old galvanized line that was not providing enough volume to my older craftsman home. I had Andy out for the initial walk through, he took his time to look at each component of the job and was very knowledgeable and easy to communicate with and laid out a very straightforward and detailed plan.
Although their bid was the higher of a few I had received, after meeting with Andy and communicating with Traci their office manager I felt like they would do the best job. And I am happy to say they were amazing to work with and worth the extra cost, upon arrival Ryan, their foreman was personable, informative and very clear on the process and plan for the installation.
And after looking at the house and line actually recommended a cheaper materials option than the one originally planned and assured me I would be happy with the end product. The fact that he took the time to truly assess the situation and provide his honest opinion goes a long way with me and shows that these guys care about doing the right thing and not trying to just maximize profits. Ryan also took the time to add on an updated shutoff at the meter which he did not have to do and went above and beyond my expectation and now allows us to shutoff our water at the meter with out a special tool for our old spike setup from the city. Ryan also took the time to let me take pictures and videos of the trenchless tools as well as explain each facet of the operation and exactly why and what they were doing at each stage of the process.
The majority of the work was done in a day and when completed I couldn't be happier with the final product and what a big difference it has made for our water volume needs. Traci, their office manager was great to work with and handles all billing and scheduling as well. Like all these other amazing reviews I could not recommend Akers more for any outdoor water line needs you may have for your home. A truly impressive operation.

I can't begin to say how happy I am we selected Akers to replace our main water line. We recently received a letter from the water company saying our water usage was abnormally high. We quickly determined there was a leak between our meter and house. After some research we called the five highest rated plumbing companies. Ryan from Akers came out the same day I called.
I was immediately impressed with his professional demeanor and knowledge. His understanding of our existing plumbing turned out to be exactly what was there and the estimate was very reasonable and competitive. After receiving the rest of the quotes it was an easy decision to select Akers. Traci coordinated the utility marking and validated that where I live doesn't have permit and inspection requirements (I checked too and she was right!). Ryan and his crew showed up and dug right in.
They dug down where crossing utilities were so they could avoid hitting them. The existing water line was just where Ryan thought with the connections also being what he thought. They found the source of the leak coming from a section under our driveway. Finding it and the location I am glad we decided on replacing the line. They quickly installed the new water line and restored our yard as much as the rain would allow.
Best of all they didn't need to break any concrete! They will be back in a couple weeks to finish up once the mud/soil has settled. In all, the job took 4 hours when I had expected 10+. For price, quality and experience Akers can't be beat. I would recommend them to anyone!

These people are the best in the business. After getting jacked around by a company that couldn't spell plumber' I found Ackers. The idiotic proposal that the first company submitted included major changes in the present site that would have taken days to do. Ackers arrived on time and left at the end of the day after installing a new water line for the house for a reasonable price and great service.

200+ feet water meter to house! very clear, detailed bid (most reasonable by comparison); job lead to challenges! each was met with so we'll. The whole team positive, friendly & responsive. Circumstances prevented trenchless first 100' - very narrow trench dug to depth when done and grass flipped back invasion was invisible! Absolutely no hesitation pushing the Akers team name forward!

I had an emergency underground leak that was emptying my water main into my yard and my neighbor's yard under concrete. I had to shut off the water and we didn't have running water in the house. Most of the companies I called didn't have any availability soon, and many would only do either the leak detection OR the repair work. Traci and Andy were phenomenal in squeezing our emergency into their schedule and were able to come and take a look the very same day.
They were then able to fit me into their schedule the very next day and we ended up only having to deal with no water for two days. Ryan and the crew were also very professional and knowledgeable and left minimal impact on the yard and concrete since their method didn't require any of the concrete to be dug up (they just go underground). I'd highly recommend Akers and would call them again in a heartbeat

We had a few quotes from various plumbing companies to have a water main repaired/replaced. Our house was built in the 60s and they planted big trees over the utilities, we've had our water repaired twice and on the third time we decided it was time to think about moving the line. Akers came out and gave us options but showed us how much of a liability it would be to repair at it's current leak spot, so we bit the bullet and had it moved.
They were responsive and were only delayed because of a previous project and issues with the city. They showed up only a few days late and did the work with amazing quality and we're super nice about explaining what they were doing and why (but not if you dont care, which I did). The team did a great job and I have already referred them to someone else who needs work done.

Great and fast service all in one day. Outdoor leak & high water bill. 1st visit, based on where could see water, advised me to contact city (even gave me the phone # to call), as might leak on their side and no cost to me. After city confirmed on my property, the team came back. Dug up and fixed the leak, cleaned up everything and called city for me to get inspection. They worked fast, less than 45 minutes total, all done in one day. Thanks!

This company is AMAZING! I received a $2000 water bill from the city and was in a panic. Called numerous companies to find someone who could detect a leak, after all the shut downs and limited capacity due to Covid, my small business is struggling. Each company that I called wanted to charge upwards of $1600 just to find a leak and many couldn't get me in until next week and some just were not interested in the job.
It was about a 75 foot run and the pipe was only 2.5 feet down, so a fairly easy job. I called Akers and immediately could tell the difference in customer service. The receptionist was friendly, asked all the right questions and got back with me immediately sending someone over on the day I called. Andrew showed up right on time and was efficient, professional, and very kind and helpful.
He found the leak immediately and also gave me some great advice for next steps so we could save some money and be within regulation with the city. Akers is very fair priced and the customer service is phenomenal. I have kept their card and will be calling them for any future challenges and plan to recommend them to all of my friends. I can't say enough nice things about how this company operated today, I am SO grateful!

We had a water line leak in the front of our rental house. Of course it was the weekend. No one else could come out for three or four days, meaning I would have to find alternative accommodations for our renters for that time so I could shut off the water. Akers came the next morning and fixed everything within a couple of hours. They used high-quality materials, minimally invasive technique, and were very pleasant to interact with. We have since sold the rental, but I hope they're willing to come to Woodinville if I ever have any problems with my own house in the future!

Andy located my water line leak for me. He was super nice, professional, and honest. He even let me listen to through the headphones so I understood exactly what he was hearing and how he was detecting the leak location. He made helpful recommendations for how to proceed with my unusual repair. I would definitely recommend Akers for plumbing issues.

They replaced my 80 year old water line at my rental property that had sprung a leak. They were able to schedule an estimate appointment within a few days. Andy was on time and his knowledge and confidence reassured me he really knew his stuff. I had a few other bids come in much higher and neither company seemed to have near the simple solution that Akers provided.
One even said they'd have to rip up my entire basement floor and close the road down, it was laughable. Akers is an honest family owned company you can trust. The team showed up, were polite, hardworking and got the job done in only one day and barely even disturbed any of the yard. I really have nothing but nice things to say about my experience and would highly recommend them to anyone looking to replace/repair their water line.

In September we did not realize we had an underground leak on our property. After returning from vacation we found our water cut off (neighbor is a plumber an discovered the leak). A few weeks later, we received a water bill for $4,000 and a pamphlet with information about checking for a leak. Apparently, the water had been leaking for weeks. We decided to obtain three bids, and Akers came out and conducted a thorough inspection. Andy seemed truly knowledgeable and the pricing seemed fair compared to other bids.
We were not sure we would be staying in the home and decided to repair the leak instead of replacing the entire pipeline, as the investment would have been well over $13,000. A few months later, another leak. We called Akers again and they had the initial bid and came out a few days later to begin the work. They set up a temporary pipe connected to our home, so we had access to water.
This was critical given we were in the middle of a pandemic and could not easily pick up and go to a hotel. They began the work the same day. A total of two days to install a water line that was over 200 ft. long. They were also able to work with the City of Seattle to get the work inspected. This is important because the last plumber we used (Mike's Plumbing) to repair the first leak failed to tell us the city would need to inspect their repair in order to request a rebate for the $4,000 bill.
We actually paid them twice, to come back out and expose the repair for the city to inspect it. This was something Andy advised during his initial visit. A few things to note. * Traci was quick to response and very communicative during the process * The bid was fair and in the middle compare to some of the other service vendors * The work was completed quicker than expected and the final invoice reflected the reduction in time and labor * We paid by check to avoid the processing fee that accompanies the use of credit card * Everything was cleaned up and put back in place, you would never have known they were there I would recommend Akers a 100%.
They weren't trying to price gauge, experienced in underground outdoor plumbing. I didn't get the same crappy feeling I would get with many of the contractors in the Seattle areas, looking to make a buck without providing quality or value because demand is high given the market.

Akers is THE BEST if you need a waterline replacement. I came home from 2 weeks away to learn of a leak in our 250 foot water line from the city meter to the house. Andy came out within a day to take a look and spent 90 minutes with me describing the exact approach they would take and answered all questions. His crew got started within 3 days and had a new line installed in a couple of days using the best materials and fittings (other quotes from plumbing companies called for using inferior pipe and not nearly the level of thoughtfulness as Akers).
It was a tremendous stress reliever to have professionals handle this and allow me to never worry about it again. If you need a new waterline in the Seattle area Akers is the only place to call.

From the moment I contacted Akers Outdoor Plumbing, I was greeted by Traci. I explained the situation that my client's home was having a leak issue. I asked about their services and pricing. Traci, explained that it was definitely a leak due to the age of the home (30+ years). She directed me to their youtube channel to view the work they have performed and offered to send someone to do a leak detection.
I contacted the owner of the house, and she agreed to the terms that Traci offered. Called Traci back and asked their availability to go out to the house. Within one week of contacting Traci, the problem was fixed and there is a happy homeowner, tenant and property manager. If you are looking for a trustworthy company that will do what they say. Please look no further, Akers Outdoor Plumbing is your go to company.

While it's often hard to believe anyone could have all great reviews, we now understand why Andy and his team are rated so highly! After some examination we decided our newly swampy front yard and the new stream running across the driveway was probably a water main leak. The next challenge was to find someone reliable who would come out on a Saturday afternoon. (thanks Yelp for the reviews! ) We called Akers Outdoor Plumbing and they quickly answered our call for help. Tracy was very helpful and informative.
She clearly understands water main leaks and provided helpful information. Andy was at our home within hours to assess the extent of our problem. He is clearly an outdoor plumbing expert, including understanding of our very old sprinkler system (not the leak problem). The quote was in line with our expectations (we watch way too many home improvement shows), and on Monday, less than 48 hours from our call, Andy's team was on the job.
Great team, they know what they're doing and are really hard working. Not only were they standing in water, it was also pouring down cold rain all day. They did the work just as Andy described, and except for a very small patch in the asphalt driveway, you can't even tell they were ever here! THAT's Quality! Andy handled contacting all the different utilities and municipal contacts.
The inspection was seamless and very quick. Although we wish we didn't have a water main leak, our experience with Akers was exceptional. We would recommend them to anyone!

I needed a plumber to fix my water main leak fast and Andy came to the rescue. After doing a Google search and reading the stellar reviews here on Yelp I called, on a Saturday no less, and they were out here in about an hour. Andy was super nice and professional and I could tell within a few minutes of talking to him he was a straight shooter that was very experienced and confident in his ability.
He had a very reasonable bid back to me within a few hours that same day. I know because I got a second bid that was close to double. They knew I was very concerned about how much water I was loosing from the main and completed the job the next day. Everything went so smooth! I could not be more pleased and would most definitely recommend!

I had some water coming up from my water main in front of my home. I wasn't sure if it was my responsibility or the city's but I figured I'd call the pros to find out. These guys made it out within the hour somehow. My man Andrew was professional and knowledgeable and was able to diagnose on the spot. His calm demeanor and generally positive outlook on the ease of the repair was soothing as I was bracing myself for a $3,000 repair estimate. Luck was on my side this time as it was indeed the city's responsibility, but I won't hesitate to call these guys when I have any future issues of this sort!

Just wanted to give a shout out for Akers. My neighbor's 100 year old sewer pipe that runs through our yard became clogged from roots. My neighbor is retired and on a limited income. When Ryan from Akers learned that there would be an additional cost of hiring another contractor to run a high power hose to clean out the pipes, the company covered the extra charges so my neighbor wouldn't have to.
They were polite, respectful, and completed their work within 3 business days, which was amazing because they had to hand dig the 6' hole because of its awkward location in my yard. They get a 5 star rating from me!

I had a leak in an old water line that was about 200 ft through brush and trees. We decided to replace the line. Andy and his crew knew exactly what to do and most importantly had the equipment to do it. They were very respectful, flexible and put everything back even better than it was. Not one complaint and only compliments. Would use them again if ever needed. It was a stress-free job.

We had a leak in the waterline from the house to the meter and after receiving three bids we couldn't recommend Akers Outdoor Plumbing more highly. They are by far the most experienced, knowledgeable, professional and have a high level of attention to detail using the best equipment and materials for your money. They are easy to work with and the whole team is efficient and hardworking.

Met with Andy this morning, and since my son had no water due to his main line leaking, they put him first on the list.they were replacing his water line within 2 hrs of our meeting. I cannot say enough good things about this company. Rachel kept us informed through the whole process. Their price was very reasonable compared to others and the job was done very professionally. Thank you so much Andy and Rachel.

Akers Outdoor Plumbing just completed a water line replacement project at my residence. The line was over 180 feet. Prior to picking Akers, I had bids from 2 other companies. The bids ranged from 7 to 14 k. Akers did the job for 5k and I am completely satisfied. Ryan and his crew were exceptional. They worked their tails off. They hand dug four large holes and the digging was not easy.
One individual was a digging machine. He did not quit and took few breaks. Ryan managed the crew very well. Ryan did his share of digging and making sure everything was going as it was suppose to. Ryan made sure all other lines were located before the digging process began. The crew returned my property to its original state. I recommend Akers without exception. A shout out to Traci and Andy for handling all the paperwork and scheduling.

I recently received a higher than normal water bill and determined that I had a water leak somewhere between my house and the meter at the street. Andy came out to take a look and sent me a work proposal to bypass and install and new water line. I checked out reviews of other plumbing companies and compared prices but found that Akers had nothing but positive reviews and quality work reported from it's customers.
I went ahead and had Andy and his crew come out to do the work, it was finished within a day, they were very courteous and knowledgeable and restored my front yard to the point that I would have never known that any digging was done. They even installed a brand new shut off valve in the front yard. Bottom line excellent work done with quality parts. I would recommend them to anyone who is unsure about who to turn to for plumbing repairs.

Never have I had such a positive contractor experience; professional, knowledgeable, honest and the highest quality of workmanship to the finest detail. Their customer service was impeccable from start to finish. I did not know of Andy and his company before this incident, but there's no doubt I will recommend him and call him again when I need help.
I contacted Akers after spending two days unsuccessfully trying to locate the leak in the water line between the meter and my house. They were able come to my house that same day. They determined and explained how the water line had deteriorated and needed replacement. I requested and received an estimate that same day (thanks to Traci's perseverance).
The quote was quite reasonable. Traci was so helpful in keeping me apprised of when the crew could do the work. In observing the crew work, I was so impressed with their efficiency and high-quality workmanship. If you're unsure about whom to select for your plumbing repairs, go with Akers. You will not be disappointed.

I had a leak outside and was pretty sure it was in the sprinkler system, but being the 2nd owner of the house I didn't know where the main shutoff was. Over time it had gotten covered by dirt and then of course because I couldn't see it I had also covered it with gravel in one spot and bark in another.
