Color Masters began as a power washing company in 2003. Owner and Founder Zeb Hadley started the company by going door to door offering power washing services while attending North Carolina State University in Raleigh, NC. In June of 2003, Zeb began working for general contractors in the local Raleigh area.

With the expanding housing market, he hired two employees to help him keep up with the increasing workload. In March 2006, Zeb began subcontracting out residential paint jobs for extra income. Within months, the demand for his paint services grew so substantially that he had to hire eight additional employees to take care of the jobs that were coming in.
