We went to Contempo for an engineered white oak install with a sand and finish (yes, a sand and finish on unfinished engineered white oak, it looks amazing) While they were able to find us beautiful material, in the end Contempo delayed our home construction project by over a month and caused my family extreme stress. I would not recommend them to anyone and the 5-star rating they carry here is baffling.
I literally could write a 10 page story about what happened and even a condensed list of the blunders I witnessed would make me look crazy, how could it all possibly be true? So let me simply say this: At *every* stage, Contempo *completely* failed in communication and scheduling. Phone calls were rarely returned, dates were never kept (and most importantly: without any notice!), and it all culminated in a team so overbooked and overworked, that they tried to do two coats on a 1200 sqft floor starting at 6 PM (!) on a summer night.
They didn't even clean the floor before sealing it. clumps of dirt and wood chips were literally encased in polyurethane. Note: "culminated", the lead up to this was no better. You literally would not believe how at *every* step things were humorously bad. The result of all this was of course abysmal. Contempo was fired after far too many second chances, a new crew was brought on.
They fixed Contempo's sloppy install mistakes (some of the fixes were even re-fixes), they re-sanded the ruined second floor and were able to complete the job without any delays or issues. Like waking up from a bizarre nightmare. I went to Contempo expecting the best. What a fool I was. P.S. To any Contempo employee who dares respond to this review with anything other than a profuse apology, note that I have documentation of everything said here and so much more.

When it came time to refinish my hardwood floors, a friend referred me to Prime custom Hardwood Floors in Sherman Oaks. We shopped at the Sepulveda location. We picked out both carpet and vinyl. Richard was helpful in locating what we wanted. However, the real test was the installation. The installers were very professional, nice to work with, and took great care in doing a careful job. It was such a change from our previous experience with another company where they slapped on the vinyl over an uneven floor and eventually nails popped through. The Contempo installers spent hours creating a smooth base before they laid the vinyl.
