Ed was also referred to us by window repair and restoration (R&R). We received two other quotes and Ed was the most reasonable by a lot. The crew did a great job prepping and re-painting the newly rehab'ed windows by R&R. They used quality materials, too: Dunn Edwards and Smith paints. The windows look fantastic and the workmanship is top notch.

We had Ed give us a bid to do some stucco work and rehab the detached garage walls. Ed came through with a very reasonable price for the whole thing. Once again, his crew did a wonderful job with the stucco work around the garage entry door that we moved. They also did a great job with a new stucco finish skim coat over the rest of the garage walls.

Then they finished up with a new paint job with Dunn Edwards, color matched perfectly to the house color. The garage looks like brand new. Each time, Ed kept in touch, stopped by to check progress, and kept to the agreed price. We recommend Ed Gonzalez painting and repair.

We had an excellent experience with Ed Gonzalez. Like the other reviews, we were referred his name by Windows R&R. His pricing is a little steep, but we found the quality of the work to be excellent. We asked his crew up front to strip the hinges of old paint on our swing-in casements, and they did so with a smile. We gave them our color selections and they handled everything from there.

I think the patching and glazing work they did was great. Don't get me wrong, they still have the feel of old vintage windows, but that is exactly what they are! I'm not sure what to make of the bad reviews. Perhaps there is some component of misaligned expectations. Or perhaps it was a different crew that did our work. I would happily hire Ed again, and plan to do so when we re-do the rest of the windows in our house this year.

Attempting to work with Ed was such a frustrating experience. Things started off very well. In fact, he came out three times to rebid on the project after the project scope changed. He always seemed patient. After 3 months of going back and forth, it finally came time to schedule the work. In my discussion with him via text, I gave approval to proceed with scheduling.

He indicated he needed a deposit so I started asking details about how much so I could write him a check. He works out of Long Beach and I was very mindful of that. The commute to my house could easily be 40 minutes if not more. I was trying to be helpful by suggesting maybe I could mail it to him but he didn't even let me finish! (see screenshot of text conversation) I received his proposal on my iPhone yet he inexplicably went on a tangent ridiculing me for not reading the fine print of his proposal.

What kind of contractor does that? He turned a simple question into something that was totally uncalled for. I've never experienced such bad temperament from any contractor in my life. I was referred to Ed Gonzalez Painting from Windows Restoration & Repair so I immediately called them and warned them of my experience. His failure in effectively communicating with a customer was completely his doing and he shouldn't blame anyone but himself.

Perhaps he's gotten too busy and can treat customers any way he likes, but it's certainly not a way to run a reputable business. I remained loyal to him and considered no other painters to work on my windows except him. But when it came to deliver, he bailed and needlessly wasted my time and his for no reason. The good news is I found a great painter that is phenomenal. If any of you are interested in a reputable and considerate painter, please reach out to me and I will pass along his info.
