Kwan's team did amazing work in just 7 weeks to renovate our attic! The project started within 10 days of us coming to an agreement and the crews (framing, insulation, drywall, hvac, electric, flooring, painting) were very professional and always on time. We greatly appreciated Chuck (Project Manager) and Kwan's vision for how to best utilize the space.
We can't forget about Heidi (Project Coordinator) who was great with her responsiveness, planning, and utilization of the Buildertrend project portal. It was a very clean process with inspections and permits. Pricing came in at the middle of 3 quotes and we are extremely satisfied with the result! They will definitely comes as a recommendation to our friends in RVA!

Coastal Contracting just completed interior work on our church building in Chester. They were amazing. They were professional and were very helpful in helping us get our certificate of occupancy for the church. The work that they performed was beyond satisfactory. I will recommend them over and over again. I just want to say a big thank you to Kwan and her team at Coastal Contracting.

I am a local designer for Kitchen & Bath Expo. Over the years of doing business in this industry, I have always recommended Coastal Contracting for services not offered by my company. When my clients need wall removals, electrical, plumbing, flooring, and tile splash for their projects, Coastal has always been on schedule for me. Even though other contractors are many months out, Coastal is there to save the day. Cameron, Kwan, and the entire Coastal team has been a pleasure to work with.

Coastal Contracting installed windows and a door in our home that are now leaking and/or detaching from the home. As well, they painted the interior of our home, and the paint on our banister and doors is now peeling off. All of this has occurred in less than 8 months from the work being done. Coastal Contracting will respond and say we owe them money, however they have been paid in full.
They refuse to fix any of their work while it continues to deteriorate and cause damage to our home. Pictures of the poor workmanship have been included in this review, along with a detailed outline of the series of events that have gotten us to this point. Detailed outline of our poor experience The project began in November 2020, and nearly a year later we have only had issues with all of the work that was completed.
Our basement door was improperly installed (pictures of the original installation included in review). After meeting with our project manager, Spencer, and the owner, Kwan, we were promised that the door would be properly re-installed. The door had to be "re-installed" multiple times before having to eventually be replaced with another new door due to extensive damage Coastal Contracting had caused to it.
After replacing four windows in our basement, we expressed concerns due to bowing. They were dismissed and we were assured once again that the work done was "above industry standard." Less than three months after having the windows installed, one window began to leak and the bowing on all windows has worsened (pictures included in review). Kwan sent our project manager Spencer out to assess the windows and he stated that the leaking window needed to be reinstalled. Kwan then had a representative from the window manufacturer, RJT Windows and Doors, come and assess all of the windows they had installed.
The window rep confirmed that the leaking window needed to be re-installed and that the bowing on the remaining three windows indicated that they had been improperly installed. He told us that he would inform Coastal Contracting on how to correct the leaking window and the bowing in the other windows. Coastal Contracting refuses to fix the wrongly installed windows claiming that there is a "balance" left on our account.
The "balance" in question is for work that was not done. Coastal was made aware of the deduction (based off of a quote received from a second contractor) in the last payment made to them, and we asked that they call us to discuss if they felt that the amount deducted was incorrect. Two months passed and there was no communication regarding the deducted amount (and the final payment was cashed).
It has only been brought up since we approached them regarding the issues with our windows and damage their work is causing to our home. We retained an attorney and were told that Coastal Contracting should not be paid the remaining balance as they did not complete the work. Coastal Contracting has yet to remedy any of the issues and damages caused by the work that they performed. As a result, our basement continues to flood and one of the four installed windows is now detaching from our home.

Coastal Contracting helped us rebuild after a water loss in our kitchen. What started out as a simple dishwasher install on our end turned into an abatement and remodel that We had always wanted. Kwan and her skillful crew moved quickly and efficiently to upgrade my home. We took down walls, installed beam, all new cabinets and all new floors. The drywall and painting are top notch. I highly recommend coastal contracting to anyone looking for a general contractor!

How do I start this review? I have never renovated anything any home. So I was a complete neophyte when it came to a kitchen renovation which was performed by the magical, wonderful, experienced and yes even cute staff at coastal contractors. To do a kitchen renovation during a pandemic and ice storm and dogs running back-and-forth could not have been fun for the gentlemen and ladies that helped me turn my once 1960s kitchen into a beautiful 2021 kitchen.
The best recommendation that I can give is that there was no pushback. Having been in customer service forever I am used to the word no but that was never uttered by Kwan or Chuck or Carlos or Wilson or Robinson. I didn't forget Cameron or Paige or Lesley or Justin. I think almost everybody in this company had a hand in this awesome renovation There's always going to be a workaround.
There are always going to be issues but anytime there were; they were always addressed and address promptly. Anyone that has any questions about possibly doing business with this company please call me I'll tell you the truth. Listen to the experts. They know what they're doing.

Coastal Contracting replaced my roof several years ago, and did an amazing job. They used high quality materials and did the job quickly and efficiently, and their quote came in under my budget. And then recently I had a leak in my roof, and Kwan sent someone out immediately to look at it, and they were able to make the repair right away! They are also professional and knowledgeable and easy to work with!

I had a good experience with Coastal Contracting. I had a project that needed to be fixed quickly. They were quick to come out to inspect and give me an estimate. They took a day or two to get the materials to prep and stage the work area. The work was completed on time. One of the things I liked the best was how Jared and John were so patient with me when I asked many questions about how the repair would be accomplished.
They were extremely professional and courteous. The project required about 8 different workers (all experts in their own area of expertise). At the end of each day, they would clean and sweep the area and put away all their tools. They were all very friendly and so very careful not to damage any of my travertine and sandstone patio by covering and protecting everything. After clean up on the last day, they replaced all my patio furniture, flower pots and re-hung my wind chimes. I could not ask for a better experience.

We had a mysterious (and slow) leak in our roof and two other contractors were unable to diagnose or even begin to address the problem. Coastal Contracting came within hours of our initial request and had the problem solved by the end of the day. They communicated the issue before beginning repairs and charged a VERY fair price. I will definitely be using them again and recommend to anyone else who needs professional home repair!

I called Coastal Contracting to install a steel spiral staircase on my back deck, and to re-hang some cabinet doors that mysteriously no longer fit after having them painted. They came out to give me an estimate and then once agreed upon sent two guys out to do the work. Michael and his helper (didn't catch his name) worked so hard to demo the old rotten wood stairs and install the nightmare steel stairway.
They had to make a trip to buy different bolts because the manufacturer sent the wrong ones, but the guys knew exactly what they needed to make it work. Michael had to plane down the cabinet doors and install new hinges but the doors work perfectly now with no more weird gaps or overlapping. They are not cheap, but I am happy with the quality of the work done. I am hoping they will give me a price on a kitchen remodel soon!

Horrible communication! Our house has 50+ year old siding that we knew was no longer made. We asked for the closest match they could find to repair the damage we had. Each new project manager (we had 3 in 9 months it took to get the job completed) had to come out to take a look and cut a sample of the siding. With the first PM we made a decision from the sample book he gave us which is what was finally installed but still each new PM had to come look and cut another piece.
And although they had physically cut pieces to have in the office the first shipment of siding that showed up was slate blue and we have a light gray (almost white) siding on the house. When my husband called to tell them the color did not match they asked if the blue would be okay to use anyway. (Umm, No, The back of the house should not be a different color from the front.).

I have used Coastal Contracting on several jobs for my real estate clients and I am so pleased! Very competitive, great quality of workmanship and they were there when they said they would be there; met tight deadlines for closings and generally were wonderful to work with. I was so pleased that I hired them to repair my roof and gut and replace a floor in my out building on my property.
Could not be happier! If I could add a star to the rating, I would. I intend to use them, and look forward to partnering with them on any rental properties I buy in the future.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND: Coastal Contracting was my saving grace with my recent bathroom renovation project. I had a family friend do the demo, tile and help me install the glass door (their work is just as good, I just got a deal haha) BUT what they DID DO was come out within 24 hours to work around my deadline crunch (since my family friend last minute decided he wasn't comfortable doing dry wall etc.) so they came out the next day. put all the dry wall, skim coated to perfection (no breaks!. well I did by pizza haha), they removed the two old lighting fixtures in the ceiling and worked with my OCD to place the new one perfectly in the center. even helping me run a new wire when I realized it needed one. all in less than a day and at a price that didn't leave my bank in a coma! Love Coastal Contracting!

I am so grateful for Kwan and her crew at Coastal Contracting. I hired them for a siding job where they replaced the siding to my whole house. They were very professional and thorough. Very pleased with the look and quality of the job. The great thing is that Coastal stands behind their service and even came back to look after a minor detail afterwards.
In other words, they don't just run away once the job is finished. They actually care about doing it right. In addition, Kwan came to the rescue when one of my neighbors reported that water was "gushing" out of backyard due to a hose that had been left on for weeks. Soooo grateful that they went immediately to investigate the problem and stopped it before it became a disaster. As a busy realtor, I've referred a lot of business to Coastal because I know they'll be competitive and do a great job.

Coastal Contracting was hired to replace our roof, and they did a terrible job on it. They put new shingles over holes in plywood rather than replace them, despite their contract claiming they would inspect the roof and make repairs as needed. The roof visibly buckles and waves with the bad plywood. The worst part is that they had a guy come out and look, agree they should have been replaced, and offer no explanation why they did not replace it when it makes them a lot of money (about $40 markup per sheet of plywood).
They did not put any new pipe boots on and did not even put flashing around one pipe they did not see when they ordered the supplies. They were very upset I hired a local roofer to do an emergency patch job. They did not seem to understand the concept of emergency repair when water is pouring in my house. They said they would come back to fix the missing flashing and boots, and never did.
