If you have Sentry Alarm, be aware they are like zombies coming after you when you cancel the service, refusing to accept that you don't owe them money. They call, they write, they harrass. The really really suck big time, so be careful, give them plenty of notice, and DITCH them.

I heard two major racist comments when I worked there 1st one of the lead technicians said he hated the gay community and that they should all die. The supervisor heard and didn't do anything to reprimand him, she mentioned to him only not to say that again, and he continued laughing at it as if his comment was funny. 2nd one of the workers from the company, a woman who was Russian, said that her definition of beautiful for its universe was white. She was mad that Miss America Cheslie Kryst won in 2019 and expressed her views without consequence. FYI Cheslie Kryst died recently from suicide. Low key toxic environment

I've been with them for 12 years. Unfortunately, I was robbed and it lead me to needing the alarm. It was the best decision. I do my part and use it religiously, every time I leave, no matter how short the trip. Every night I sleep great knowing the house is secure, not worried about any little noise. I love that the call center is local and quick to call if my alarm goes off.

I have had a few service calls over the years, always great people, nice and professional. Definitely recommend working with this local company. night and day from the lower quality service and responsiveness of some of the bigger national providers.

If you want a huge corporate slimy company that knows nothing about small towns, doesn't care about their customers or homes & has multiple clauses in their contracts to charge you as much money that they can when you decide to leave them. Sentry is your company! My alarm equipment was 20 years old when I bought the home i currently own. The old equipment was from mountain alarms.

I loved that company. Unfortunately they needed to sell and I had the unfortunate disadvantage of having no other option at the time, other then signing up with Sentry. Sentry had never been to my house or ever saw the equipment that was in my home; but they sure loved charging me 500 dollars for the 20 year old equipment when I left! Needless to say.

I will never use Sentry again, and am thankful to be with granite peak alarm. If you're A local in Twain harte, please talk to me before signing any contracts with Sentry. otherwise they will rob you too! The closest office for Sentry is in Monterey and they don't even know where Twain harte is. Please learn from my mistakes and go with Granite Peak Alarm!

They are always around and truly do care about how you are and what concerns you have! The owner of granite peak paid half my bill from Sentry. why. because granite peak understands and actually cares about their customers!

You don't want a dishonest, sketchy company running your alarm system. Sentry Alarm bought out our local alarm company. We were customers for 8 years. We had a faulty sensor and had a repair man who fixed it. Soon after we moved and left a voicemail but didn't get a response. Then we got charged for another 6 months of service without any bill forwarded to us, so when we called to resolve that, they said that when that serviceman came out we had signed another 5 year contract with them.

We NEVER would have signed that, so it was forged or snuck into a document dishonestly. They want us to pay 6 months and an extra $600 when we haven't lived there for 7 months. They are deceitful and corrupt, everything you DON'T want in a company that is supposed to be watching over you. Go elsewhere.

Sentry alarm is a fraud company. They lied to us that we are signing up for one year contract but in writing it was 5 years. Second when alarm went off, We did not receive a call. So I called them to notify it. Instead of coming here they started asking to charge us to come and look at it if it is more than an hour. They are not a good company to work with.

One of the worst experiences I have ever had with any company. The system was faulty from the beginning, with multiple false alarms and equipment failures. In the end they never responded to my requests for a refund. Once I checked on the cost of the exact same system from ADT it turned out to cost 1/3 of the faulty Sentry system. I would stay as far away from this company as possible.

Honestly this is a company to stay away from. They have the worst customer service of any company I've ever worked with. They said they were monitoring my house for 4 years but actually were not. I found this out when I had to turn off alarm and they couldn't do it because they had no record of my account. I then asked to stopped the service and only when I contacted the COO did they finally end the service but not before charging me for an additional three months and then sending my account to collections. Stay away from them I think it's actually a scam of some sort.

I've been communicating with the Service Dept regarding a couple of sensors that would not reset on the keypad. The Service Dept Reps tried to reset over the phone, however, after a few attempts, the decision was to have a technician look at the sensors. On June 3, a technician named Jerry, came about 10:30 am (our time window was 10:00am-12:00pm). Jerry was very friendly and very knowledgeable.

He resolved both sensor problems and showed us why and how he fixed it. He also checked our Control Panel battery and found that it was a rechargeable type which is rarely seen so he said we have a good one! He also showed us a few options on the keypad when we set the alarm at night or leaving the home which was helpful. After he left, we felt more knowkedgeable about the alarm system and definitely more confident. Jerry made us feel like a real valued customer! Also, we experienced the same kind of courteous service for the Service Dept when calling in.

The person coming to fix our alarm system couldn't find the front door and left. I'm sorry, but, how can that person be trusted with our complicated alarm system. So disappointed.

I had service from Mountain Alarm in Sonora before they sold the business to Sentry. When I sold my house I called to disconnect the service. The next day they charged me three months fee. I called to request a refund and they said it would come in 2-3 weeks. After 2 months I called again and was told the check was waiting for CFO's signature. After 3 months I called again and was told they will not be refunding my money.

Sentry did great work setting up our fire and burglar alarm systems at our business. The planning and execution portions were handled professionally, and without any major issues. The services that we were signing up for were clearly communicated to us, and the bill matched what we were expecting. The hardware is easy to use, and so far (3 months in) very reliable. I would recommend Sentry to any business looking for this type of service.

I inherited Sentry Alarm when they bought the company I formerly used for home security. I like to know everything I can find out about someone I may or may not do business with, so I looked into Sentry & its owners. Message to Sentry & COO Chris Hill, Its really sad that you need to get your wife & friends to write a favorable review of your company, FaceBook is an amazing resource. It's obvious in dealing with Sentry that the snake is rotting from the head down.

Some of us earn our titles in business & some of us are given a title by our family. It's unfortunate that a Company that your Father built has been left in such incompetent hands. In my short time dealing with Sentry, I found the customer service non existent, you call, remain on hold, for ever, & tossed around from person to person till finally leaving a message that is never returned, Ridiculous!

On the one occasion I did get a chance to talk to someone they seemed uneducated, inept & mis informed on the service they provide. Your customers are your life's blood, you should treat them as such. Once my contract was up, I jumped at the chance to leave Sentry. My advice to anyone considering this company is read the 1 star reviews, thats your truth & then RUN AWAY!

I am a businessman with companies based both in S. Korea and in the United States. I have been a loyal customer of Sentry Alarms for many, many years precisely because I have been able to trust their zeal and diligence in securing my businesses in Oakland and Berkeley -- places where, without Sentry, "security" doesn't seem to amount to much more than installing bars over glass windows. Additionally, being someone that simply can't spend much time on-site because of constant traveling, I have been assured by the consistent professionalism, patience, and technical acumen that I have learned to expect from Sentry.

To this day I have not found a company that parallels them in service. Consequently, I'm surprised that many of the reviews here are so negative, especially with regards to the real person-to-person customer service that I feel really distinguishes Sentry from the other companies constantly trying to get my business. I have never felt like I got any less of my money's worth when speaking to a representative -- with whom I was always connected without waiting much -- and never had an experience where my request to talk to and negotiate with a superior wasn't satisfied.

The Hills have always treated me with respect and kindness, even to someone who wasn't too familiar with the venue within which many of my aforementioned businesses were to be located. I have thus recommended Sentry Alarms to many of my colleagues back in Korea who have reasonably growing interests in establishing branches in Northern California. All in all, I give them 5 stars. If it weren't for them I couldn't have the peace of mind that really made a difference for me and my companies.

FIRST, they don't return emails/phone calls promptly. They suck at customer service. SECOND, they don't reward long-term loyalty. FINALLY, in fact, they take advantage of it and pretty much push you out the door. As a 27-year customer, I asked to cancel service. Rather than just charge me a disconnect fee (which I asked for). they also said that I owed through March and it was in a contract that I signed in 1992? Unbelievable. I did not read that in the fine print on the form. The rep said she ran my request by "management." That said, I would not ever recommend them.

Oh yes, CANCEL your account if you have one with them! Do it NOW because for some insane reason, they require a 30 day notice to cancel your account. Why, I asked, the reason given was that it needs to go through 3 departments before my account can be closed. WHAT? You're either monitoring it or you're not! When I initially contacted them to close my account because my system needed some repair & I figured I might as well put that money into a better company.

I was offered a discounted repair rate $95 instead of $125 & they would waive the travel fee of $25. Ok, we'll give you a chance.the guy came, punched in some numbers, it seemed to work. I set it, left the house, within a hour I got a call from them saying my system indicates a issue! Once again, the system wasn't working & I called them to say I definitely want to cancel & that I didn't think I should have to pay for the service of the so-called "repair", her answer was "well, he did get it working".are you kidding me?

It maybe worked for an hour! When I initially spoke to Anna on the phone, she asked me why I wanted to cancel, I told her that honestly the reviews are terrible. Her reply was there are 2 sides of every story, maybe so, but beware! There are way too many bad stories here to say that they aren't real! Cut your losses now!

It appears I'm not alone about Sentry Alarm. They charged me a years worth of monitoring only to find out my system was not communicating with Sentry home base. So I decided to switch providers and asked them to refund me a years worth of NOT monitoring. They never did. isn't that shocking! I got ripped off by those who were supposed to protect me. Lesson learned.

Their contract requires 2 months notice to cancel. This is simply a way to bill customers for service that they no longer want. I asked them the reason for this and, no surprise, they simply didn't answer. After repeating the question they claimed that it might take 2 months to terminate a contract because a tech might have to come out. Apparently the tech lives in the outback of Australia and it takes quite a while to drive his jeep all those miles and then arrange a flight to Oakland, etc. etc.

And then of course there's the question of how often a tech actually does have to come out. After all, they just have to stop monitoring the system which shouldn't require a site visit. Overall not a very honest company. Also please also be aware that a monitored alarm system is of limited value in Oakland. The one time that an alarm was transmitted it took quite a few hours for the police to respond.

Let's do a class action lawsuit! Steer clear of these scammers your better off without an alarm system from these rip off artist. Since sentry alarms will keep on charging you even if you are no longer with them! There are plenty of other alarm companies that are w-a-y b-e-t-t-e-r! Sentry alarm was completely gutted out of our home & replaced with a superior alarm company's alarm system! Sentry alarm did not know anything!

Even when they were told several times we cancelled their b.s. service! So how are they suppost to notify any police, sheriff or fire department! Sentry alarm didn't know that their system was removed! Sentry alarm is suppost to do a "ping test" to see if your system is working! This never happened! This was months ago! Sentry alarm is still charging & charging! Sentry alarm was notified that we don't need their b.s. service!

Like a spoiled sport. sentry alarm still keeps on charging like a really bad magazine subscription! Sentry alarm refused to show a "signed"contract! There is no signed contract! Since it had bought out c.p.p. alarm! Sentry alarm doesn't know what their doing! Entire alarm was paid for back in early 2000's! How can sentry alarm protect your house when their entire system was replaced! Don't put your security or your families in the hands of these idiots! These idiots hands are in your pocket! They want your money & don't care about you!

Absolute terrible service. Cannot get through to anyone. When you leave a message they take forever to get back to you. And this is SALES! I want to BUY something. Now that is if you can even get to them, when I call my local number it goes to a dispatch office which has nothing to do with sales or service. The bought out an old alarm company which was terrible, I can see they're keeping the tradition alive. I changing to another security service. #fedup

They'll lie instead of protect you, they'll damage your property instead of protecting it, and if you ask them about it they'll attack you with absurd logic. Don't expect them to understand the new technology they deploy - it seems it's mostly just for looks. One of their drivers got so angry at one point he revved his engine really loud, took off, and scraped the side of my car! Of course they totally refused to pay for it. Avoid this company!

Following a scary prowler incident a couple of months ago, I had a security alarm system with video cameras installed by Sentry in my Santa Cruz home. The guys who did the installation (Robert, Esteban and Gabriel) showed up on time, worked efficiently, did a great job and patiently explained (and re-explained. ) how to work everything. I would definitely recommend these guys!

Watch out! Very expensive equipment and outrageous service calls. Just try to get a refund for canceling monitoring service. More than three weeks and a ton of phone calls for $30. Needed four approvals to finally send a check. No wonder their BBB rating is D-

I have to agree with the other comments written. We have had nothing but problems with this company. The Sentry system was existing when we moved into our place so we kept it. Mistake. Since then they have installed sensors incorrectly, charged us for a service call when no one did anything, and continually call us to tell us something is incorrect with our system.

We are now stuck in a cycle of something is wrong but they can't fix it so our system beeps constantly. It's seems no one knows what is going on at this place. Do not sign with this company!

We inherited Sentry after our previous security system company was acquired by Sentry. Totally the worst ever, and not knowledgeable. Our new security company discovered that we had motion detectors disconnected, sprinkler system had been disconnected, some door contacts not working. Inept, totally horrible service. Never experienced service like this!

This service bought our contract/system from our provider in Morgan Hill who sold his business. (TruLink which was great). From day one we were over-billed, poor service & unacceptable customer service. One evening, we had an activation (our fault) and we waited for the monitoring center to call.never heard from them. We called & they indicated there had been no activation received.

Fast forward a couple of months to 3:00am.same thing. NO call to the PD from the monitoring center, no call to check on us. Call to Sentry was hey, It's your problem! No help, no information.no bueno! Now with ADT.1st activation got a prompt & courteous call form the monitoring center. Don't trust this service with your security.there isn't any!

I would give no stars if I could. They are the WORST. The review by the previoius guy is 100% right. Their contracts are ridiculous and they have zero interest in customer satisfaction. When we remodelled our house we suspeneded our service and paid just the 40 a month for that 6 month period. Some of the contractors lost the door sensors (which must cost.5 to make) and they wanted to charge me $700 to reinstall. ADT and Bay Alarm do this for FREE!

I told them I didnt want to double pay for the items twice so could they offer me something else, cameras, etc to go to the end of my crazy long contract or they were going to charge me 800 to cancel. I never heard back from them and I continued to reach out. I have never been more shocked on how I was treated in my life. The sales manager Steve was rude, condesending and even when given another chance to make a sale still treated me horribily. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM!

I would warn any person signing up with Sentry Alarm to first look at your contract with them and make sure they don't have you signed up for an extremely long contract period When the sale representative came out to my home I signed on the spot paid cash for the operating system because I didn't want to lease or rent a system. No mention was made of the duration of the contract.

It was my error to assume that it would be a standard 12 month contract. To make a long story short, after 2 years I needed to move out of my house. When I called Sentry Alarm they told me I had signed a 5 year agreement and in order to terminate the agreement I had to pay in full for the remaining 3 years. There was no room for negotiation. I certainly don't want to make this a sob story but I'm just wanting to warn other potential customers that their tactics are not aimed at customer service.rather at collections.

I was a customer of Sentry Alarm for 12 1/2 years, 6/1995 through 12/2007. I had set up automatic payments on my account with a credit card. Apparently, the credit card Sentry Alarm had on file expired before the January 2008 payment was to be made, for 2008 services. Instead of calling me to get the new expiration date on the card, they billed me a $10 "late" fee and then a $55 finance fee on the late fee--for a service that costs about $150 per year.

I don't know about you, but I don't keep records of the expiration dates of my credit cards and a list of which vendors are paid with each. I was rather unhappy with their treatment of me, since they knew the card I had on file was going to expire--it was in their accounting system. So I called them and canceled service. The irony is that my alarm system has been unable to call their monitoring center for more than 4 years, ever since I got DSL, so I had been paying for service I could not in fact use.

I am not going to pay a late fee for their accounting oversight, for services I did not receive (they bill in advance). I discontinued the service when they billed me the late fee. I did not receive service in 2008. That they charged me the fees in the first place is absurd, given that they could have called me or sent me a letter. That they sent it out for collection is truly over-the-top. That they continue to refuse to reverse the charge and threaten to ruin my unblemished credit history is disgusting.
