We've had the pleasure of working with HOUSEWORKS since 2015 on several projects. The first, and largest, was a major remodel of the main floor of our home, where we revamped the floorplan to move our kitchen and a bathroom. As projects like this tend to go, there were some surprises along the way, but the team handled them with the utmost professionalism and grace.

Most importantly, they still finished the project on time, which was especially critical for us, as we were expecting our first child within weeks of the anticipated end date of the project. All of the crew members were exceptionally friendly and were excellent at keeping the space clean at the end of every workday. Jeff in particular is a dream to work with - no question is too small, and he is wonderful at keeping open lines of communication. HOUSEWORKS transformed our home into the dream space we had always envisioned, and because of that, they're our go-to contractor for other jobs, including a few smaller exterior projects since our larger remodel. Our only regret is not working with them sooner!

We used Houseworks for a home remodel in San Francisco. After long research and frustration about how contractors communicate in this market Jeff was very responsive and frank in his assessment of the project. His timeline and cost assessment were more realistic than others. The workers were always polite and nice to work with when we were on site.

The quality of the work was always excellent; the finished carpentry, the painting, the plumbing, tile work. We had two bathrooms done and added a staircase and two bedrooms thus converting a garage into separate bedrooms for the kids. The materials used were top rate. The designer was very competent and helpful in picking out fixtures and colors.

After a few months only things are small issues like a light switch and a little touch up so overall very impressed with quality of work; at no time was I pressed to think I could have found better subcontractors and scheduled the work better myself. I would recommend them to friends and family. Remodel work is expensive and so I am glad I went with Houseworks as I felt I could trust their competence and follow through in a difficult market. Jeff and his team are good natured and professional in demeanor which I found refreshing in a bewildering process of city regs and scheduling subs. They even tried to make things as square and right as possible in the most crooked city on many levels. I am glad we used them for our work.

We have used Houseworks since 2008, when we first bought our house and found extensive undetected dry rot. They kept us informed of the changing scope of work and developing and executing the repairs and did a wonderful job of restoring the facade of the house to its original state. In 2015 we contacted them for a major kitchen and bathroom remodel.

We had ideas and with owner Jeff Kann's guidance we finalized the plans and began the remodel. The crew from top to bottom are professional, competent and responsive. They kept us informed of the schedule of activities and cleaned up every day. They were very considerate and kept the parts of the house not involved in the remodel as clean and untouched.

They have many contacts, for example, a structural engineer for earthquake retrofit consultation and a consultant for a greywater system. Houseworks also has strong partnerships with quality vendors and subcontractors. The budget was on our high end, however there were no surprises, we got what we wanted, they guarantee their work and we are very happy with the results. We would highly recommend Houseworks for both larger projects like these and have used them more recently for smaller projects.

We love our new space! The whole team is professional, attentive, highly skilled and they deliver above and beyond expectations. We couldn't have asked for better partners throughout the whole process. I simply can't say enough about the team at Houseworks and we will use them for any and all future projects.

I hired HOUSEworks to design and build out my new kitchen. This was a down to the studs redo. The HOUSEworks team were incredibly professional. From the first meeting to the last, Jeff, Griff, Antonio and Danny were superstars. They worked from real project schedules and were transparent when it came to cost overruns and delays. When there was a big issue late in the project, Jeff stepped up and made it right.

Communication was always prompt and to the point. And they did a great job of explaining issues to me in a clear and non-technical manner. They also listened to my input. Jeff spent tons of time upfront interviewing me and making sure he understood my goals and objectives before putting plan to paper. When the cabinet makers missed their deadline and the project was delayed, they were open and honest about the process and did everything they could to get the project back on schedule.

They also were able to work with my ever declining budget, making some adjustments along the way to help keep costs down. The HOUSEWorks team has very high standards. The quality of the construction was top notch and perhaps more importantly, the kitchen meets my functional needs to a tee. I highly recommend HOUSEworks and can't wait until I save up enough to redo the rest of my house.

We worked with HouseWorks for a remodel of our condo's kitchen this year. They made the whole process very easy since they take care of everything from the design, to getting all the permits, to construction. Working with the designer, Sally Power, was great- she has the exact design sense that I was looking for, which was modern with a touch of traditional to incorporate well into our victorian. Pros: - Beautiful, high quality work. - Very friendly and professional. - Low stress!

They take care of the whole process, from design to permits to build. - Good communication - weekly updates. Cons: - Can be pricy. - Construction process can take a while, especially towards the end (kitchen took 2 months+some time afterwards to finish up loose ends). - It would be nice if they added CG mockups to more easily picture the finished work. Overall I would definitely recommend them and work with them again.

Our condo building used HouseWorks to investigate our water leaks in the rear of the building. They were extremely professional, thorough, and come with the right approach.fix the problem correctly the first time. They were the fourth contractor to give us a bid and analysis. As the first three gave us varying opinions, we wanted to use HouseWorks to thoroughly assess the situation.

They scoped the walls with cameras, sprayed water on the outside to figure out exactly where the leaks were coming through, and provided a detailed write-up specifying all of the issues. I highly recommend them!

I wish I had 100 stars to give to Houseworks! They literally saved us and without them we would not have been able to sell our condo. We were 2 weeks away from closing escrow when we found a leak in our bedroom. We called Houseworks and Mike came over that afternoon. They understood our time constraints and made our project a priority. At first we didn't even know how to fix the leak.

But Houseworks came up with a flawless plan. They had to open up our wall, apply waterproofing material and seal up the wall. The entire process took one week and our bedroom looks better than it did before the leak. What I really want to emphasize is the customer service we received. Griff and Mike were incredible! They called and emailed us daily (if not hourly) to keep us in the loop.

They were so personal and caring. I have not had very warm relationships with contractors. But with Houseworks, they made me feel important and treated me like a friend and with great respect. Tony, the painter, was exceptional, too. He is an artist and very efficient. I can't express enough how much I enjoyed working with Houseworks. Their fees were very reasonable, too, and they have a very good warranty.

The best news is our sale is going through. And all of it is because of Houseworks. Thank you, Griff & Mike & Tony and EVERYONE at Houseworks! I wish more companies could be like Houseworks!

I had some water damage around a window in my family room. I called HouseWorks and Griff came over and was very helpful in explaining the situation to me and what my options were. He was very upfront and told me that HouseWorks would repair it in the best possible way - get rid of the replacement window and get a regular window - the kind which would be installed in a new construction and repair the damage to the inside wall.

He also hinted that his option also costs more and i could always use a handyman to patch the existing window instead. He even offered to give me a handyman's contact info. I asked him to send me a quote anyway and he sent me one with a very detailed breakdown. I would have liked to go with HouseWorks but i went with a cheaper handyman option instead. I'm still very impressed with their professionalism and honesty and now i know who to use for a remodelling job in my house when i need one.

I hired Houseworks the first time when we were going to sell our old house and discovered a quite significant dry rot problem in the master bathroom. An exterior wall needed to be reframed completely, and we got quotes from 4 contractors. Price wise they were right in the middle, tendency expensive, but we got a really good feeling about them. And indeed, their workmanship and professionalism were nothing short of excellent.

The job was completed perfectly, neatly, and on time. Based on this we hired them again to do a complete kitchen remodel in the new house. They sent a different guy this time. their kitchen specialist. He was so meticulous it was actually fun to watch him work! After the old kitchen was taken out, this guy really took his time to make sure the cabinets were perfectly aligned, all appliances perfectly installed, and he even mastered a really tricky downdraft installation in the space behind the stove and the back wall.

They helped us with granite selection and everything else. This job took a little longer than anticipated due to a configuration issue that only became apparent after taking out the old kitchen. some of the new cabinets needed to be returned and replacements ordered. Nobody could have seen that coming until the demolition was done, so I don't blame them at all.

They work quickly, efficiently, and cleanly. They clean up really well after themselves every day, and I don't think I would hire a different contractor from now on for any of our future contractor needs for major stuff. These guys are exactly what they claim to be. and diamond certified.
