I walked into this place by accident looking for a business just down the road. I'm so glad I did! I got a wealth of information and education on care for my Koi. Lori provided stellar service and took the time to educate me on some important points about my fish tank. She also showed me pictures of her pond which is inspiring me to consider putting a pond in my landscape.
If I did I'd be sure to go to them for their expertise. I purchased some fish tank treatment and testing supplies. Even though I don't have a pond they will be quite useful for my large tank. Thanks, Lori!

We used Matt Hiner for two rounds of landscaping. First round appeared well. Second round was quoted as as 4-5 days, completed in 1 day, but they didn't adjust the expense. As soon as they complete the project, they demand final payment. Literally the first thing they say. Give us our payment. Well, we had major drainage issues with their work. Concrete patio had major cracks (not covered, ) and downspouts were buried.
The rain came and I asked Matt about where the downspouts daylighted. His response: "We are done with your business." We spent over $50,000 for basic landscaping and he didn't stand by it. Our third round of landscaping was with a new company that was amazing. Unfortunately they had to correct a ton of grading, rock work, and dead plants from Hiner.
They were 40% less than Hiner, far more responsive, corrected all of their egregious mistakes, and stand by their work. Avoid Hiner at all costs. Edit 01/2022- Just read Matt's response and my mind is blown. Several plants died within the first season and they didn't warranty. Our concrete cracked in multiple places due to extremely poor drainage.
Our rock beds were grossly under filled and had to be redone along with multiple weed barriers that didn't extend to retaining walls. The retaining walls they did install had major issues and had to be redone. Drip lines were incorrectly installed for our elevation- don't connect small lines into wider lines and expect them to move uphill and water plants and trees.
This is basic physics. Downspouts were buried and not marked. They also had their concrete truck drive over our leach field and it cracked pipes- i literally told Matt not to drive any equipment over this area, but they did and it cost me thousands to repair. If he denies this fact, I have video footage of it happening. And no, we never said that we "had company coming and his timeline was unacceptable." We did have company arriving, so we asked they either finish before or after they came.
We didn't demand anything. We just didn't want a crew working around our guest house while our older family was staying with us. They always demanded payment immediately while on site. And while Matt was working with our project he was busy trying to get on a reality TV show in Europe. He kept bragging about it and it set our project back weeks. Maybe he should've focused on his local clients instead of trying to be the next TV superstar.

Hiner Outdoor Living completed a HUGE project for us within the past year. Having had a handful of poor experiences with other landscaping companies in the past, I feel inclined to share that Hiner Outdoor Living's level of professionalism, attention to detail, patience (with any questions & concerns we had throughout the process), the integrity applied towards doing the the job correctly and not cutting any corners, and the overall craftsmanship demonstrated by the team, are all qualities simply unmatched by other companies.
We now have a phenomenal outdoor space carved into the side of a mountain for our 6 children to use. We will definitely be contacting Hiner again for our future landscaping/outdoor living needs.

Tremendous transformation and extremely happy with the results! We originally had a small pondless waterfall that was old, leaking and in need of a rehab. The crew from Hiner Outdoor Living had a vision of what they could do from the instant they saw the old water feature. Omar and his team went to work and proceeded to make a one of a kind waterfall that I'm proud to have people see and enjoy.
The crew worked with an artistic eye, carefully assessing the landscape and in placing every stone. I could not be happier with the result, and I'm eager to see it every morning. I'm so fortunate that I went with Hiner. Very, very happy.

We had a water feature in our backyard that was basically caving in and desperately needing attention. I got immediate attention along with a perfect solution. Marshall was very creative and gave us the solution. Very professional staff and crew! They did a perfect job with the water feature and landscape lighting. Much lower maintenance and absolutely beautiful! We were so impressed that we had him redo our lighting on an indoor water feature. I HIGHLY recommend this wonderful company'

After 5 months of trying to find the right crew in the Springs to fix our water feature, finally found Marshall with Hiner outdoor living. They were able to negotiate a fair price and not run me around in circles trying to redo the preexisting feature from scratch like some other companies in town wanted to do. BE VERY AWARE! There are some real scum bags in the water feature business around here.
Some of them will only talk to you if you are willing to spend 25k! that's Insane and ridiculous. Really happy with the experience we had with Marshall and his crew, hard working guys that put pride in their work. Love how it turned it and the cost savings Marshall suggested with new pumps and layout is highly appreciated. These guys care, just use them!

If you don't mind losing $1,500 to get an estimate of over $230,000 to do landscaping for a very small lot (front and backyard combined), then Hiner is for you. We found this landscaper on Google and the reviews were highly rated but we should have read them all. If we had, we would have been warned. Our second mistake was giving money to have a design drawn up without setting strict budget requirements.
If you're reading this, you probably think we asked for the moon and the stars for our yard. We asked for pricing to have a seating area, a place where a hot tub could be placed, and a very small water feature. The rest would be the required number of trees, shrubs, etc. because we live in a neighborhood with an HOA. Our front and back yard combined is less than 2000 square feet.
The design drawn up for us was much more than this but we were hopeful and continued the process. When we reached the pricing stage we were shocked and mortified to say the least. Given the way the pricing was structured, we had no idea where to begin to even scale down (due to the price grouping of categories) and we had already lost so much time and energy with this company.
When we expressed our concern the owner discouraged us from scaling down too much and explained the cost came from quality of material, etc. We've since met with two other landscaping companies and have learned otherwise. Moral of the story is this, I'm sure this landscaper might be okay for repairs and supplies but if you are looking to get an entire landscape done, look elsewhere.
When looking for a landscaper, do your research. Set a very strict budget of 30% under the highest amount you can afford and never, ever give any money until you see the cost to perform the work.

Hiner Outdoor Living is the best. I have a large koi pond from them in my backyard from them and love it! I'm always returning to their brick and mortar store for more plants and fish, advice is always friendly and excellent. Highly recommend for all your landscaping needs and ongoing great customer service!
