Residential
Report
Insulation and air sealing can be difficult in a Cape Cod-constructed house. This unique construction produces problems with heat transfer from the roof to the rooms inside. The knee wall framing usually has built-in bookshelves, drawers and closets. The knee wall sits on top of the first floor ceiling joists, meaning that interior air is usually flowing under the knee wall.
Sound
Report
Cellulose insulation is widely used for its excellent noise reduction qualities. The high-density fibers naturally absorb noise and reduce sound transmission. When used in exterior walls, cellulose insulation reduces the outside noise entering a home.
Basement
Report
In the framing of a building, a rim joist is the final joist that caps the end of the row. These components support your floors and ceilings. A rim joist makes up the end of the box that comprises the floor system. In the basement, the rim joist is often an overlooked area when it comes to heat loss.
Wall
Report
Densely-packed cellulose is very effective at stopping air infiltration through walls. This, in turn, provides your home with greater comfort by eliminating drafty walls and increases energy efficiency. Walls are fully and tightly insulated, forming a thermal barrier against the elements.
Attic
Report
An improperly insulated attic can cause high utility bills, cold rooms in the winter and hot rooms in the summer. One of the most efficient ways to improve overall home comfort is to upgrade your attic insulation. A properly insulated attic can help to reduce energy costs, in some cases as much as 40%.
