If I could leave 0 stars I would. Do not do a solar lease from Joule, you'll regret it eventually. First the panels are not performing per the terms of the lease, to which they offer NO response. They say they have contracted production with another company, O+M solar, and they each point the finger at the other and say it's the others problem. My panels have been out for 4 months now and they still charge me every month for a product that is broken and refuse to even acknowledge the terms of the lease that are not being met.

This company does not respond to email or phone calls. The main phone number on Google is now disconnected, and the direct phone linked from their website is never answered and the mailbox is full. Similar to other reviewers, my impression of the company through installation was very good, but service has been a nightmare. Most of my optimizers have now been replaced under warranty, but for vast stretches of time my system was underproducing and I was unable to get anyone at the company to respond or schedule a service call for months on end. Theoretically this should be addressed by their production guarantee, but they stopped paying this out some years ago and will not reply to my requests for annual production reports to track the kwh underproduced. If this company is not out of business yet they will be soon, their customer service is appalling.

We had them install our panels. Problem is when we try to get in touch with them for something. No one ever answers the phone. Then come to find out. They just sell the panels for another company. So when they tell you. They will do certain things. DON'T BELIEVE NOTHING THEY SAY. Also after getting in touch with the BBB. Seems there are many complaints filed agasint them.

I gave Joule's 5 stars shortly after they completed the installation of my system in 2014 because I was so pleased with the installation. But since them I have called and left voice mails since no one ever seems to answer their phone. The recorded message says to leave a message or send an email to service link and someone will get in touch within a few days, now three weeks later and I still haven't heard anything from them.

I notice some of the owner responses were asking what is the problem. The problem is that we want your company to answer phone, or respond to the left voicemail/emails. I described my problem in the voice mail and emails.

Had solar panels installed when Joule was taking money from government - Now that I need a new roof; Joule wants to charge me over $5,000.00 to remove and reinstall the same solar panels. The reason I need a new roof is because of the solar panels. Not to mention that they took forever to get back in touch. I highly recommend not to use this company.

I have $25k worth of solar panels and equipment from Joule that totally stopped generating electricity over a year ago (was never notified when it stopped working- found out on my own). Supposed to be under warranty. Joule sent a crew our in late October/early November when I called about it. They went on my roof and said they had to get new parts to get the system working again. Months went by, and I called and emailed repeatedly, and nobody replied.

I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, and it has been a month since and the BBB never heard back from Joule either, so I think Joule is going to screw me. Would not be surprised if they stole some functional equipment off my roof when they sent their people out last November. Worst experience I've ever had with a business.

Joule simply does not respond to any calls. I had panels installed a few years ago and have called to ask for documentation on my panels multiple times over the past couple years and have never received a single call back. I've emailed. I've called. They have their entire phone system to only direct to voicemails they don't answer. Awful. Stay away. They seem to reply to people here that they have to pay their balance. I'm all paid up. They have no reason to not respond other than the fact they don't care and are lazy.

Joule was a fabulous company to work with years ago when we had our solar installed. Now we need our panels removed 6 years later and they have been a nightmare to work with. When we had our panels put on it had a roof inspection passed with flying colors but now I'm replacing the roof only 6 years later. Also was told it would be $1400 to remove the panels now it's $4600!

Do not use Joule! I repeat do not! Solar is no real savings. Alicia Chenier 4/18/21 My complaint is I was originally told by Josh K. it would be $1400 to remove panels when we needed to now it's $4600! That is quite a difference in less that 6 years. Can someone explain how the price has changed that drastically? My next complaint is the lack of urgency on Joule's end.

I began calling Joule the week of March 22th I have YET to speak with someone on the phone. I began emailing week of March 29th and on the 4th week now and someone is suppose to come tomorrow. I put a complaint on the internet and now someone is responding within days and on the weekend. WOW!

Hi, our solar panels have not been working. There is an apparent 25 year warranty (see picture below) but I haven't gotten any response to emails, phone calls, or inquiries via the website for almost 6 months now. The panels were installed 11/13/2014. Please contact us to remedy this situation.

Wow, I thought I was the only one until I saw all these posts. I even went to their office, I still can't get any reply from phone/emails. It's been weeks that my solar system stopped working. I can't monitor the system anymore. Locus energy directed me back to Joule Solar. It's a dead end. This is a reply to the owner message. "We told you this".

When was "this"? There was no reply about monitoring service. When I contacted support from Locus energy, they referred back to the installer who was Joules Solar. I even forwarded that email to Joules Solar.

Sales pitch was good, as was the pricing at the time. Installation went well and we've had only a minor issue with getting remote readings (since corrected after numerous attempts). Service is another matter. We are supposed to receive an annual inspection as part of our original contract. For this I have to call each year (now 3) to request this.

This is where the problem lies. No one EVER answers the phone. Instead I get a recording and therefore leave a message requesting a return call. NEVER is this a one time call. Usually, if I'm lucky, I'll actually get to talk to someone after a minimum of 3 attempts. Then when they finally conduct the inspection (I'm taking their word on that by the way) I can't get anyone to give me a report of their findings. So, since the system seems to BR functioning properly I give up and wait until the following year.

Now here I am again, calling and not receiving a return call. Ho-hum. Buyer Beware --of empty promises and frustrating services after the sale. **Now another year or so has passed and I have an issue with accessing my Dashboard. So I called. Guess what? No call back. Same old crappy customer service. *** Looks like things have changed here - for the better thankfully.

I called to try again to get our reporting system operating and received a call back in a reasonable time. The technician came, on time, and made the necessary adjustments. No charge! Thank you ***Latest update. I guess we're back to no communication. I've called numerous times and even left a message with an administrator--still no return call.

I merely requested a courtesy call to advise me of what remedies I might pursue. Nothing! South Coast now handles my System (SunPower) and has taken over from Joule. I guess that says it all too. Go elsewhere if you interested in service after the sale--as promised. Oops - just needed to lower my star rating to 1

I was lucky to get in on leasing just before the law changed, and Joule was great at making sure it went through properly. Even though my roof is partly shaded by the house next door, my electric usage decreased by about half. I've not had any problems.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. THEY ARE PREDATORY LENDERS. We purchased solar panels from these people when they knew we would be denied solar panel tax credits. They told us the state would absolutely pay half the installation costs, even though the tax credit limit was already passed by the time we could file our taxes. We are currently pursuing legal action.

I had given Joule a negative review, due to months of delay in getting the net metering installed for my system. Thus, I could not get the credits from the utility for surplus production. After some additional delay, the meter was installed and the president of the company even came out to flip the switch.

Just completed install. Will edit once we start getting utility bills but to this point we have been very impressed with Joule. From the initial salesman who knocked on our door to the final install team, impressed at every step of the way. Kevin walked us through the process, Steve led the install, all great. Everything couldn't have gone much smoother.

Even though I ended up doing a self-install for my solar system rather than hiring Joule, they've remained in close touch with me ever since we first met during the bidding process. They've frequently and cheerfully answered questions and helped me problem solve.

Couldn't have asked for a better experience. After comparing quotes from several different companies in the area I found that not only did Joule have the best price but they also had the highest quality installers and materials. It was a no brainer to move forward with them considering it's only $42/month for most systems. The install team arrived when expected and worked efficiently.

The job was completed with good quality. The worksite was cleaned when the job was complete. Overall, everything met my expectations for a professional organization. Thanks for everything!

These guys are the best! My whole experience from start to finish was smooth saling. The instal was fast and looks great. I am saving lots of money, could not be happier. For as much as a cellphone payment a month this is a great deal.

I filled out my info on their website because it said it would give me a free estimate. Fine. Then, when I was done, the website said someone should be emailing or calling me about this. Fine, email me. I don't want to talk to you until I got the free estimate your website offered (I mean, I even located my house on a map for them). After getting a ton of calls from them, they finally started emailing me but not giving me the actual quote promised. Fine.

I can just ignore them until I'm ready to deal with that crud. But tonight, they really peeved me off. They decided to send me a political smear campaign email including links so that I can vote against this person they don't like. Um no. Keep your politics to yourself and do NOT send unsolicited political emails to me. EVER. What kind of idiot are you, Stephen (SHawkins@Joule-Energy.com)? I told them to not contact me again. I will find a company that does not abuse their email address lists for their own political agendas.

My experience with Joule was above and beyond what I could have expected! The workers were clearly exceptionally knowledgable about their product and acted in the utmost professional manner- arrived on time, available when contacted, and finished our project according to our desired and proposed schedule.

Joule Energy is a very reputable, professional company. The work was done in the time period they gave us and is clean and high quality. All their employees were very professional and they were very accommodating when we asked them to make a few adjustments to the installation to make it more aesthetically appealing from the street.

I toured the Joule head quarters before I bought our new home and was impressed with their business model. When I was ready for solar panels, I got bids from three companies. Butler Ives of Joule worked with us to present all the options and come up with the best quality and price to suit our needs and also helped with financing. Installation was done on schedule and with minimal impacts to us.

The website to track our usage is very helpful. Follow up after installation has been excellent, including assistance in getting tax credits. Making a big difference on our electric bills.

Joule is the best from start to finish. We had 3 different Solar Power companies come to the house to give proposals. I had done some research and we choose Joule because of the superior panels and warranty from Sunpower. What they offer is a cut above the industry standard. The salesman, David Denny was who we trusted to help us navigate such a huge investment.

Every step of the process was clearly communicated and expedited with a smile from every member of the Joule team. Ross the engineer rocks! We have referred all our friends and anyone who will listen. We are delighted about going Solar and what it means for the earth and our pocketbook. Joule is the best.

Not happy with Joule. Service has been weak from the get-go. Huge delays, and half-truths about what has and has not been done. The installers themselves are fine - fast and efficient. The sales and support team however, I have found to be inexperienced and inefficient. The handling of forms and paperwork has been consistently poor, and consequently there have been numerous hassles and costly time-wasting. I would not recommend these guys.

This is a great company. I interviewed several companies and I am very satisfied w/ the decision to contract Joule. Everyone I came in contact w/ was extremely professional and pleasant. Julian Thomas is my main contact w/ the company. He is responsible for selling, explaining, designing, dealing w/ Entergy and following up. My system is collecting above the estimated amount.

My monitoring is running smoothly and Joule is still in touch. I feel this is a company that stands behind their product. They are efficient, knowledgeable and prompt. Their business practices prove them to be honest and extremely professional. On completion of the installation Joule Energy leaves your property in perfect condition and you w/ the knowledge you can depend on them.

I figured if I am going to be shelling out thousands over the next few years to Entergy I would prefer those thousands go to paying off the 20% balance for the 8.5 system on my roof. So the money that would have gone to Entergy comes back to me. If you are thinking of going solar and can afford it, do it.
