M.J. Nicholls Landscaping was established by Matthew Nicholls in 1996. Like many kids, he started working small jobs in his neighborhood, mowing lawns and installing shrubberies. As the years passed, his technical knowledge grew and his clientele base expanded.In 2005, his business was formally established as an LLC corporation at which time Matthew graduated with an Associate's degree in Landscape Contracting from the U-Mass Amherst Stockbridge School of Agriculture.Prior to college, Matthew attended Norfolk County Agricultural High School where he majored in landscape design.Matthew utilizes his knowledge and experience to create outdoor living environments which are both aesthetically pleasing as well as practical to suit the specific needs of each client.

We used M J Nicholls for both the replacement of our front steps and a complete renovation of our backyard. Both of these projects (completed within a few weeks of each other) were done on time, quickly, and with professionalism. We couldn't be happier with the results of these projects. I will definitely be using them again in the future and would recommend anyone to do the same. You can't go wrong.

MJ Nicholls removed our overgrown lawn/bushes in a home that had been vacant for 10 years. Matt was professional and responsive and his team worked hard to complete the job very quickly. 4 years later we are still happy with our lawn although our toddlers tear it apart on a daily basis. Most importantly the grading that was done completely relieved any and all water that we were getting in our basement. I highly recommend.

This is a great company! I've used this company twice so far, once for my sprinkler system (covered an acre) and a large landscaping project on a steep hill to prevent erosion. The crew was professional, personable, and hardworking. We're trying to line up a new patio now with this them and will post pictures once it's done.

MJ Nicholls installed a new set of granite steps and walkway, and we couldn't be happier. Matt was super responsive during the sales process, and they ended up installing a week earlier than scheduled. The crew was professional, the work is excellent, and they actually left our yard in better shape than they found it. (When they were cleaning up, they used some leftover loam and grass seed to fix a nearby spot where I'd just had a tree stump removed.) We've gotten a ton of compliments (now we just need to re-side our house so it look as good as the walkway!). We will definitely hire MJ Nicholls again.

M J Nicholls performs excellent work for a great price. The owner Matt took the time to explain our patio building options in detail. His crew was able to start the project the following week and complete it within a few days. They build up the patio area with loom to level it off and make the patio higher, installed a French drain, and new fabric with crushed stone around the garden. I highly recommend them for any landscaping or patio work.

We had a patio with a walkway installed, as well as fencing. Matt was very responsive and came out quickly to get us a quote. The crew was fantastic, very friendly, respectful, offered great ideas when it came to decision making and were very hard working. They were very accommodating with last minute asks as well. Eric and his team did a phenomenal job with our landscaping. We had to have our front yard regraded, a french drain installed, and retaining wall built. Which they did beautifully and quickly. And, while the team was setting up to start work we mentioned a few future projects we had in mind, including the removal of an old garbage pile that had been left in our backyard by the previous owners.
Right then, Eric quoted us a very reasonable price and the team added it to their work. Any time we had question or change that needed to be made while they were working Eric and team responded as soon as they were able, even if it meant they had to back track or add extra labor to their day. We replaced one section of fence, added a gate, removed brush and had arbors planted for hedge. Great experience from beginning to end. Prompt response to online quote request, came out a few days later and emailed quote by end of day. Very reasonable and easy to work with as we made a few adjustments to the job. Crew was very professional and did outstanding work.

Jose and his crew just finished a patio, stone wall and steps job at our house. These guys are the best professional I have ever worked with. Matt Nicholls and his landscape team did an amazing job on my backyard. I wish I had taken before pictures but I will definitely take after pictures. This was an overwhelming task and in fact two companies had refused to do the work of leveling my yard. Matt and his team of professionals not only leveled my yard but added fresh loam and hydro seeded the entire yard.

This summer we enjoyed our attractive and easy to maintain new landscapes thanks to Nicholl's hard work. In the spring, we met with Bruno to discuss back and front yard rehabs. Renovations included intense clean up, removal of over grown bushes, new plantings and sod. Finally, installation of granite front step. After several discussions, the crew started their work.
