I want to publicly thank Brooke Layton for all her help as my clients transition to the Tampa area. Being a broker / builder in North Carolina, I searched for a reputable builder to refer my clients to. I was referred by several Realtors in the area to Devonshire Custom Homes. I spoke with Brooke over the phone and she was energetic and helpful in answering all of our questions before meeting. Brooke met with my clients and they couldn't be happier.

If you are misfortunate enough to own a home next to a Devonshire construction site, be prepared for a year or more of daily hell. Devonshire tore down the house next door to me and allowed the empty lot to become overgrown and a dumping ground while they built 2 other homes on adjacent lots. When they finally cleared the lot to begin construction, they used a crew of very young men operating heavy equipment in a reckless manner.

They destroyed and removed my 100 ft fence, felled several mature trees on my property, and caused extensive damage to my landscaping. It has been more than 9 months and Devonshire has failed to make restitution and shows no concern. I have contacted them repeatedly and with far more patience and civility than they deserve. They offered only lame excuses, and broken promises, passing the buck to the construction manager who has done nothing to resolve the problem. Meanwhile, a steady stream of different subcontractors arrive weekly, parking trucks illegally, throwing soda cans and trash onto my property, creating lots of noise not just from construction equipment but also loud radios and raucous yelling.

In my experience, Devonshire construction crews have acted with reckless disregard for other people's property, a partner in the firm has failed to take responsibility for the damage caused by its workers, and the company has been unresponsive, unreliable, and unconcerned. Apparently, since the company's founder passed away, the younger family members who inherited the business have not managed it with the same competence, professionalism and ethics that once earned the company a good reputation. Sadly, Devonshire today is not the company it once was. Let buyers beware!

Devonshire Custom Homes is a high quality custom home builder with exceptional customer service. Their reputation and work product speaks for its self. It's always great working with their team. The team at Devonshire Custom Homes is amazing. They have built several homes on my street and are leaps and bounds better to the other builders who have recently built there. Brooke and Josh are responsive, professional and care about the neighborhoods they build in.

Initially, my Brother was concerned about having a house designed to meet his exact specifications as he didn't see any a perfect match that Devonshire had previously constructed, however he and his wife were blown away by the creativity and design from Edgar (Devonshire's architect/designer). Edgar was able to deliver just what they had envisioned, and offered a great floor plan to match. I feel very comfortable referring them and have the utmost confidence in their finished product!

We purchased a new construction home before it was completed. Devonshire was very easy to work with when making selections for granite, lighting, paint colors, etc. Their home warranty is excellent and they have responded quickly to punch list items. We moved to Tampa Bay from Metropolitan D.C. Area and the quality of our home compares most favorably to new homes in that area.

I purchased a home that Devonshire Custom Homes had recently finished. Upon purchasing the home I found a couple of issues with work that had been done during the construction process. I contacted Devonshire about this and it was very difficult process for me to get them to respond to my requests to have someone come out to the house to examine the problems.
