Four years into pool ownership from Dan and his crew building an inground pool and the bottom corner is collapsed. The concrete deck in that corner has cracked and the pool enclosure is separating from the from the concrete. Called to Dan to come out or send someone to look at it and my response was "we don't have time for you, go somewhere else".
Great customer service after they get your money. Dan was rude and unreliable. Never doing business with this company again and warning people to stay clear. Horrible experience with him. Hopefully this helps people from making a 45,000 dollar mistake and go with someone else.

Absolutely terrible experience. They did a botched up pool and concrete installation at our house a year and a half ago. No one from Johnson pools even bothered to show up the day our concrete around the pool was installed. The ground had not been properly prepared or leveled and they were supposed to bring out more dirt prior to the concrete going in but they didn't.
The concrete was not textured correctly and is a dangerous slip hazard. Multiple people have slipped. The slabs are uneven due to the poor ground preparation and also a dangerous trip hazard. In some places there is over an inch difference in height between the concrete sections around the perimeter of the pool. The day after the concrete went in we made multiple phone calls to the office manager Dawn and to the owner himself Dan Johnson. Dawn never knew anything and Mr. Johnson never called back. Also, the pool steps, the coping around the pool and the liner installation were done sloppy and our bottom drains have never had suction.
After days turned into weeks we realized no one was coming back and we were being given the runaround and ultimately flat-out ignored. We mailed a certified letter to Mr. Johnson last year which finally got his attention. He responded shortly thereafter in July 2020 in a letter in which he said he had been busy because summer is his busy time of the year but would come out in the fall to address and correct all the issues.
He never came. He never called. Since receiving that letter a year and a half ago, we still have never seen or heard from him or anyone else at Johnson Pools again. Unbelievable.

Had cleaning for several years with good results until hurricane Sally. After recovery, asked for cleanup service and was told they could not do it. After cleanup and repair I asked to restart cleaning, and was told that they no longer provided that service. So I now have another company. Service: Cleaning

Johnson has been servicing our pool for many, many years, with satisfactory results. Service was always prompt. However, after a misunderstanding with my husband, the tech who was cleaning our pool angrily took his equipment and left the job undone for that day/week. When I called the office to make sure our credit card on file wasn't charged for that month, I was informed that our account had been canceled!
This is absolutely insane for male ego to cause a years-long account, with guaranteed payments each month to be cancelled. I couldn't believe this poor business practice. Thanks But the silver lining is that we are now using Pinch-a-Penny pool service. They are doing such a good job, it makes me realize that we had been getting poor service all along! Funny how things work that way.

From initial deposit/estimate it took months for the work to even begin. Call after call to office was not returned. Woman on phone never seem to have any information and was generally rude. They started the job without verifying all of the supplies were there. We were told by Dawn due to the numerous bad customer service and screw ups we would received some sort of compensation.
Then we we pointed this out on the final bill they basically Johnson Pools stated the errors were not their fault. Subcontractor was used for installation (Owner Mohammed, Owner, Goodway Plastering Pools and Services llc). They no-showed day they were supposed to begin. Then just showed up without notice the following week. Drained silt on grass which was killed instead of where they were shown to drain. Trash left every day we had to pick up to ensure a safe environment for our critters.
To initially drain the pool to begin work none of their drain pumps worked so it took a long time to drain with basically a garden hose. Johnson said errors were on Goodway; Goodway blamed Johnson. Once work was completed by subcontractor (Goodway) said "not their problem" and refused to clarify why so much gritty debris covered pool. When work was completed we could not get the filtration system to begin.
Found and removed balls of tape blocking the system. The installation was not to Diamond Brite standards so day after day we have to vacuum excess gritty debris that completely clogs up the system. Then backwash filter and flush. At this point there is more we could state, but it is pointless. If you want to feel like your an inconvenience then hire this company.

Very disappointed with this company. We have been VERY PATIENT about waiting on our pool liner replacement for almost 18 weeks now. We were told 16-18 weeks and NEVER got a phone call from them. You will have to follow up with them and even at that they won't give you any concrete answers. A month ago I emailed and asked for a full refund because they STILL have NO IDEA on when our dirty pool can be fixed.
I was told then I can get the pool liner since I already paid for it and get ANOTHER company to install it? I said NO because this whole time you kept us waiting and now after weeks of waiting that's what you're telling me to do? NO. Complete the job like you're supposed to! I called again almost 2 weeks ago and was told by Ms. Sharon that it should be installed in 2 weeks. NEVER got that phone call.
I called AGAIN today Manager-Ms. Dawn said we're still on the 6th spot(same spot almost 2 weeks ago) and still couldn't tell me when? Even insisted that nobody told me it'll be done in 2 weeks. Well, Ms. Sharon if you're reading this can you tell her what you told me when you called me back Monday the 17th? Ms. Dawn was suppose to call me back then because she handles the scheduling but I guess she asked you to call.
To the owner of this company I hope you do something about this. It's NOT FAIR to keep accepting jobs if your company cannot handle it. It's NOT FAIR to keep your customer just hanging.

I have used this company several years with few issues now and then but was ok untill the guy that serviced my pool left and went to college and the replacement guy did not back wash for several months or clean properly and it caused major issues to my pool and by time I realized he had not been doing the maintenance that he should have was too late.
I called said he had not backwashed in months and I also left note to him personally on my door and after note he finally backwashed but it was too late was too long so it caused sand to back up into my pool few days later so I called let them know they did seem really care said someone can come out next week and they were going charge me to fix issue as well even though their guy caused the issues I said that is unacceptable and I fired the company.
This place has gone down hill from several years ago it's a shame and the lack of customer care or service is terrible. I paid $155 a month which is pretty steep to find out your pool has not been properly maintained for about 6 months and In my opinion they owe me money cause this will cost me to have the issues fixed the inexperienced guy caused.
What happened to companies that are decent and appreciate customers like me also that were with them for years? I would give no stars if a choice but since it's not I give 1 star. I will never use them again and do not reccomend them for anything. Another note one of the ladies that answers phones in office is very rude and uncaring about your issues I know her by her voice only and lack of words back when you call bout a problem etc. and the other lady is ok atleast listens and answers back without sounding like a witch like the other one.

Contacted Johnson Pools October 6,2020 and Dan came out the next day. We agreed to have our pool liner replaced, add a pool heater and change over to saltwater system. The next week they were back and measured for the liner. At that time Dan said with the storm and COVID the work would be completed by Christmas. We paid 50% down and started waiting.
Since that time I have not been able to get any answers as to when our work will be completed, I have left 3 messages for Dan with no return calls, I spoke with Dawn who was very rude and patronizing. Too date we still cannot get a straight answer as to when they will install. Today April 8, 2021 I fired them from my job by purchasing the liner, heater and salt system and will have someone else complete the job.
It appears this company over commits, sits on your money for months and expects you to just accept no answers to your questions for months. They may do good work if you can get them to complete the job, I'll never know. worst customer service ever! CEH Pensacola, Fl.

Took 3.5 months from quoted pool liner installation date to actual installation. I called their office to get updates after a couple of weeks. Though professional, they were quick to blame COVID and weather for delays, which I can understand to some extent. However, the worst part of this experience was the lack of communication in any way. I finally gave up calling because they couldn't see beyond a few days and I felt they were irritated I was even calling.
Finally 1 guy, not a team of 2 or 3 like normally would come, came to install it and did an ok job, though you could tell he was in a hurry to get onto other jobs. The day after it was installed, and while I was still filling up the pool with water, I got a bill sent to my email. Then every day afterwards for a week, I'd get either an email or paper bill.
They sure could communicate now! Once the pool was filled there was a leak that eventually got fixed by the installation guy. Once the leak was repaired and the pool ran a couple of days, I sent the check in. Johnson Pools, you need to increase your level of communication with your customers. How about a weekly email telling customers what number they are on the list and an updated installation date based on the information you have. Also, maybe wait a few days after installation before sending the bill to ensure all issues have been resolved.

Had an inspection completed on the pool at a home we were looking to purchase. The report indicated no issues at all and only listed the specs that could be written down off the name plate on the pool equipment. After that was done our whole home inspection found a faulty light and listed some maintenance issues with the pool equipment specifically that included pictures. Not worth the money we paid these people to show up. Beware.

My pool turned out as beautiful as expected and more. The men who put it in were diligent and courteous. It was a very timely and well run job. It fits in perfectly and beautifully even with the retaining wall. The wall added dimension and beauty. I did have trouble with communication with Dawn in the office. However changing to email rather than phone calls it worked like a charm.
None of them do text. I would also advise that as the job moves along walk around and pick up the trash and papers to check for owners manuals. They were scattered everywhere and wet. But it is all online anyway. Of course the yard was totally wrecked but they made a nice blank slate for the start of my camellias garden when it was all over. I highly recommend Johnsons pool

Johnson Pools came through for me in a time of crisis. I was under a deadline to get my pool liner replaced before the closing on the sale of my house. The office staff was wonderful in addressing my concerns and a beautiful job was done just in time so that I was not penalized. I felt like they really cared about me and I would recommend their services to anyone in need of a great pool job with a personal touch included. Martha Young, Pensacola, Fl

Liner looks good but having to add water every day to keep skimmer from sucking air and 2 bags of salt every week to keep chlorinator in the green. Was told is normal for pool to lose 1 to 2 inches of water a day. Old, faded, patched up liner didn't lose more than 1/2 an inch of water a day. Also, pool light stopped working after being disassembled and subsequently reassembled. JP sent a man out to tell us the light is bad (like we didn't already know) and billed us $89.00 for a diagnostic. Would not use their services again. Will have reputable company check for leaks and repair pool light.

My experience with Johnson Pools has been a mixed one. They started off strong and kept the pool sparkling. My first pool tech was consistent and always left notice when he serviced the pool. A few months later they sent out a letter saying he had been fired. The new replacement was Destin. Although nice, I don't believe he had a basic understanding of how to service a pool.
After many attempts the pool got worse after each treatment. He even left a note saying the pool looked great. I think we were looking at two different pools. He called one day telling me my boat was in the way. Note, I don't have a boat. He often confused my pool with my neighbor across the street. He also assured me the pool would be swimmable by the weekend for a Birthday party we were having.
It was not and we were unable to have our pool party. I called the office and never received a call back. Called again and spoke with Michelle. Although very apologetic the pool still looked bad. The last visit Destin made he left a mess of the pool deck by spilling chemicals all over the deck leaving this stain. There was also powder on the edge of the new liner.
I've never seen such sloppy work. I took the water to be tested and the chemicals were off the charts. I called Michelle again to cancel the service and let her know of the deck stains. They did zero out my account not charging me for the 3 weeks of service, which was fair. What I find upsetting is I was told to just power wash my pool deck to clean his mess.
I hired Johnson Pools to maintain my pool, they did not do this and they also caused more work for me to clean and hopefully it will come out. I've since had to drain ALOT of the pool due to the chemical imbalance that Destin caused. I honestly believe he never tested the water. My neighbor fired them as well and has video of no service being done.
I gave them 3 stars for starting off great.but toward the end of service with them, it was 1 star service. *Thank you for the reply to my review. You could continue service by cleaning the mess your technician left. The attached pool deck picture shows it all. Much appreciated.

I wish I would have gone with Johnson Pools in Pensacola to put in my pool instead of Gulf Coast Pools. It's not just putting a pool in, it's the service to the customer afterwards. These guys are great and they stay competitive in their pricing when and if you ever need parts replaced or something breaks down. Stay away from Gulf Coast. They'll take your $30k and then you'll never hear from them again unless something on your part comes up.
When it does, they overcharge on everything. They aren't customer service oriented at all. Next investment property I buy to put in a pool, it won't be by Gulf Coast, it will be by Johnson, if they can squeeze me in because they are so busy & good. Please take note to those of you who get them to come out for a quote in order to do work but don't hear back from them right away because they really have their hands full. Props to an amazing company! Keep up the great consistent competitive work guys. You have the edge on all of the other companies here in PCola.

Best experience with a contractor, ever. The best asset they bring is listening ears! Dan listened to our vision and delivered the full deal. We checked out 4 different pool vendors and Johnson's gave us the best impression. They wanted out business and provided a great value. They are fast and they have us everything we asked for - at a great value. Highly recommend!

My pool looks great . Rain delayed our project but it was worth the wait. We are very happy with the end result. I would advise any potential customers to get Dan's cell phone number at the beginning of the project, in case there are any issues because the office isn't allowed to give it out and you may have issues with subcontractors.

Totally destroyed our yard and left a junky work site every day. Broke our gate and our dog was either let out or he got out of the gate they broke. We notified the owner of our dogs and their come and go habits into our back yards, but we still lost our dog. The owner won't take responsibility for it, and our gate was not broken and our dog was still here before they started the job There was no communication during this process. Workers would just show up with no clear indication on when they would be there and when they wouldn't impossible for a family with pets. Our pool looks nice don't get me wrong, but it came at a price I wouldn't pay again.

Johnson's Pools put in a pool for us a few weeks ago and we are so pleased with the pool and the company! Dan is extremely knowledgeable and we were surprised that he actually gets out there with the employees and works hard to make sure that the job is done right. He also helped us to get the most pool for our money and found ways to help us save money when other pool builders probably would not have bothered to tell us or think about it.
The electricians were great and the crew worked hard. Also, a big shout out to Dawn who always responded quickly to my emails (usually within an hour) and was always willing to help with any questions I had. Jerry came out to do my pool school and was excellent and very knowledgeable about the system and the chemicals. I have heard many horror stories from people about having their pool put in and I am happy to say that Johnson's Pools made our experience great! Thank you to everyone at Johnson's Pools--we are loving our new pool! Debra K

Johnson Pools provided expert advice and prompt service when we needed our vinyl liner replaced and our cement decks refinished in our home. They helped us understand the pre-existing pool and spa plumbing set-up and regular maintenance routines. We were kept up to date on the installation progress while the front office provided excellent after-sale support. Dan and his team love what they do and have given us an incredible pool experience.

My only issue is that for a small " mom & pop shop" feel of quality customer service (which I love & is harder & harder to find) I was initially thrilled with setting up service for my elderly mother while I lived in California. So apparently my elderly mother missed a payment, I basically get a less than warm email on the matter, no money no service, and we were cut off.
I responded I had no idea what happened & sent the check in the mail that day. They didn't call or check to see if it was an problem at the home, just rude no money no service attitude vs trying to care about a customer. Once I called home, found out she had an emergency happen and at a medical facility. Apparently the communication chain was broken and the facility failed to call me in a quickly manor.
So long story short totally expected this small town company to handle a small misses payment differently for a dependable paying customer for over a year, they could have tried to call me or my mom anytime but rather just send an off pudding email and cut us off so quickly. So canceled service & most likely will not be going back.

Johnson's Pools services the pool in the home that we own in Pensacola Florida. I can say without hesitation that our technician goes above and beyond to take care of us. We first hired them after battling a green pool for a month. Dumping hundreds of dollars in chemicals did nothing to break up that mess. Jonathan had it completely clear within days- and made several trips over the course of the week to ensure it stayed that way. Dawn, the office manager, is a pleasure to deal with as well. Communication is excellent and that is important as we currently live four hours from Pensacola. I highly recommend this company.
