Mark Sletten was incredibly professional, helpful and transparent. Most importantly - the work was fantastic, on time and on budget. In 1.5 weeks he and his team replaced my awful cracked acrylic tub and surround with a new tub and tile. It's more beautiful than I hoped for. And they repainted the walls and even cleaned out my air vent when they were done - going above and beyond.

If you have any projects you've been putting off, highly recommend! I've been telling my friends & coworkers about how great the experience has been, and they have been jokingly asking if he'll travel out of state lol. But seriously, we're lucky to have such an awesome contractor right here in St. Paul.

Mark and crew installed a new bathroom in our basement and remodeled our main floor bathroom. Mark applied his sense of design and knowledge of available products and construction skills to create two attractive, functional bathrooms. The main floor bathroom was quite the challenge being only 5' by 6' and poorly remodeled since it was built in 1958.

Mark worked with my ideas to remove the tub and replace it with a shower and storage tower. He and the crew went above and beyond to install a beautiful tile and stone shower surround and wainscoting that involved cutting nearly every piece of tile to effect the design. He selected a contemporary glass shower door and an eye-catching glass block window (who would have thought glass block could be attractive!).

Although the space is still tiny, it now has everything we need. Because it is so attractive, I love it in spite of it's diminutive size. Mark and the crew were respectful of our home, were polite and as unobtrusive as possible. Mark was always available when we needed to reach him. Services were sub par, high priced, and work was incredibly slow. Poor communication. Mark came out and quoted a project for $17k on a remodel of our only small bathroom that was broke (and needed a remodel anyway). I had remodeled the bathroom at our previous house, so I have a good handle on what is involved, but we were too busy to take it on ourselves.

I solicited 5 or 6 bids and Mark's seemed the most professional but also the highest cost. I highlighted that this was our ONLY bathroom and speed was the utmost priority and that ideally I would like the project done in like weeks not months. Mark didn't express much concern over timeline. Now there were some materials shortages, and COVID and whatever, but it was just excuse after excuse, with sometimes no one showing up for a month at a time.

And the strong impression was this project just wasn't organized or a priority. They didn't start for over 5 weeks, and when called on it, I was told that the timeline we discussed was for starting the project, not finishing it. I wish I had recorded our initial conversation, because it seemed he took crummy notes and then later reinterpreted them to suit his needs.

Nearly 2 months into the project he expressed surprise this was our only bathroom and sort of sheepishly asked what we had been doing in the meantime (going to neighbors houses we are friends with). How that CORE piece of information I had stressed repeatedly during our first few meetings had slipped his mind, I have no idea. He the said he would hurry to finish.

Then no one showed up for 3 straight weeks. We nearly fired him about three different times, including in mid JAN promising to have the shower done by Valentine's day (we hired him first week of OCT). Needless to say that deadline was totally missed by a month or more. Moreover key elements discussed during the planning stage were simply forgotten by him (tile wainscoting), and then when asked about them several months in he had to scramble.

Early on in late OCT he had stressed the need for us to drop everything and go pick out tile so he could order it and have it there by mid NOV. Then MONTHS later when he was actually ready to install the tile (JAN), the project again had to go on hold because he had not ordered it yet... This is despite repeatedly asking him if he needed us to order tile, or front cash for materials to speed things along (not sure if he was having cashflow issues or what).

Anyway, once the project was 95% done, they just had to install a glass divider (another element he had forgotten about).

So that was another several weeks, then when they came to install it, they had cut it for the wrong side of the room, the side away from the shower...so more weeks to completion. By this point I couldn't even talk to him because I was so angry, but firing him when we were 98% seemed pointless.

Eventually, I left it in my wife's hands, who he then took advantage of. Telling her he was giving us a "$1000 discount" for all the hassle, while charging her $300 more than the estimate and payment plan we had agreed on.

This is despite us generally picking cheaper materials than were in his estimate and giving him wide latitude on specific choice just to try and speed things along.

Hiring Mark was one of the 3-5 biggest mistakes I have made in my entire life. Worse than some car accidents I got into in my teens or that time I bought a super expensive bike right before we had a kid and I mostly stopped biking. The stress related to this has probably literally taken 6 months off of my life expectancy. I am serious.

We had our upstairs main bathroom remodeled last fall. Mark and his team were very easy to work with. Their estimate was much more reasonable than other companies we had evaluate our what we wanted. The estimate was very close to final price as well without any unexpected charges. They also found during the course of our remodeling that our floor was not level and they poured concrete and leveled it without any additional charge.

We are very pleased with our final product and the quality of the workmanship after 6 months. The price savings with going with Sletten Interior seem to come from the design aspect. Mark will assist with some suggestions, but the majority of the decisions are left up to you and require going to stores to see what products you want. This was totally okay with us, but may help others to know this going in.

Mark and his team (Jim, John, and Tim) were outstanding! Really a pleasure to work with. They helped us find creative solutions for or bathroom remodel and paid close attention to detail throughout the process. Friendly and personable, they always kept everything clean and tidy. After our initial meeting with Mark, I knew our bathroom remodel was going to look awesome, but I'm truly impressed with their work. I'd highly recommend them!

Mark and his father did an awesome job on my odd shaped shower that had some moisture issues and needed new tile. Mark came up with a functional design that I never could have imagined and it turned out beautiful. Sletten Interiors represents everything a contractor should be.: honest, fair, high quality and courteous. I would not hesitate to recommend Mark to others and if I have any further projects, I know who to call.

We are totally pleased with the work Sletten did. Mark and Jim and John did outstanding work, were dedicated and did an overall fantastic job. We took a bathroom from the 1990s and brought a classic 1920s bathroom back to the house. Mark is great with details, is a superb craftsman and managed the project very well. The cost to us was very reasonable and we couldn't be happier with everything from start to finish. We have a basement and kitchen on the future list for Sletten Interiors!

Mark worked with us to complete a full bathroom remodel within budget this past fall. He was attentive to our needs and requests and offered great design suggestions. Mark, Jim, John and the subcontractors all provided courteous and quality work. We did have some miscommunication on some of the finishing work but Mark quickly and kindly made the fixes needed. We are very pleased with the update Mark and team provided for our bathroom that hadn't been touched since the 50s or 60s.

Called Sletten and Mark came out checked out the space, took some measurements and said he'd email an estimate. He said give me a week. Two weeks went by and I called him and said I wanted to make sure he had my correct email. Without even asking what it was he said he did. Just the tone of his voice was strange somehow without him telling me I knew I'd never hear from him. It's been a couple months, still waiting for some kind of answer.

Our St. Paul home was built in 1939 and the bathroom was suffering from extensive rot and mold behind the shower tiles, a poor DIY remodel from former owners, and an all-around depressing appearance. Mark finished our bathroom today and the work is shockingly beautiful; it's more than we thought possible considering how it once looked. We asked for subway tiles in the shower, a herringbone pattern on the floor, and a deep tub despite a confined space.

He gave us everything we requested and added things we did not even know to ask for: a higher shower head, an alcove and built-in shelf in the shower, a beautiful two-in-one shower head/sprayer, and more, all within budget. He was also very kind to our pets, incredibly clean and thoughtful, and easy to work with. We will definitely have him back to beautify our other crappy bathroom, no doubt about it.

Mark and his crew are excellent to work with. Mark has a great combination of style, design and construction details. They designed/added a new bathroom for me in an extremely tight space and made it seamlessly integrated to the existing floor plan. The den/mudroom and kitchen remodeling project went well as everyone on the team paid attention to quality. Mark is an idea man.

Arrived on time and did a nice job even though interior work is their specialty. Good craftsmanship. The price was significantly lower than other bids. I would use them again.

The work they did was AWESOME! Our bathroom tile is absolutely gorgeous! It was a patterned concrete tile and even the store where we purchased it was impressed! They also installed a tile floor, two new toilets, a bathroom sink top, a new kitchen sink, shower fixtures, a new bathroom cabinet and re-vented the bathroom and microwave vents to the roof so we wouldn't get ice dams.

The construction costs were VERY reasonable. However, if you're a control freak (like I am) and want constant information and updates about the progress of this superior, outstanding work.you WON'T get it from Mark (email, text, phone or face-to-face conversation!)! Jim is awesome though.he'll tell you anything! Did I mention I've never seen or heard of any contractor taking so much care to keep the house and the work area clean? Everyday we came home.there wasn't even a SPECK of construction dust!

Mark and Erin were fantastic. Their attention to detail and obvious pride in their work communicated volumes to us. We knew that we were in good hands and that our bathroom would be as fantastic as we had envisioned it.and it is! We greatly appreciated Mark's willingness and creativity in helping us to stay in our budget. We would not hesitate to use Sletten Interior Solutions again.

The work that was completed was excellent. The price was good and they were very nice people.

I emailed Mark on a Friday and on Tuesday it was done! He quoted me a price without looking at the job. It was more work than he thought but he stayed with the price he quoted. He took extra time to re-trim my stairs to fix an ugly situation. Mark and Aaron were courteous, respectful, and professional. I plan on using them again on other projects. Thanks so much Mark!
