Think twice before selecting Parrot Bay Pools in Fayetteville, NC
The following Parrot Bay Pools review is long overdue and is based on my experience with this company. I hope you go elsewhere or don't have the same bad experience I had if you still choose to have them build your pool. Also, please don't take my word for it; do your research. Maybe I'll save you a ton of headaches and money.
After moving from Florida to North Carolina, we contacted Parrot Bay Pools to build our pool in our new house. We were excited when Parrot Bay Pools showed up at our house with the fiberglass pool and spa the first week of December 2021; however, our pool was not ready until late march 2022. There were significant delays through each phase of the build process and some issues that were never effectively addressed by Parrot Bay. In the end, we regretted going with this company for different reasons. I don't recommend them to anyone. However, I am sure they can do things better, and perhaps some of the positive reviews they somehow managed to get on the web are true.
If it helps, below I have listed the POSITIVES and NEGATIVES of going with Parrot Bay Pools:
POSITIVES
• Local company. I guess this may interest you if you are in the Fayetteville area. But there are many other companies.
• Sales representative. Nick was the sales representative. He responded quickly to our questions, and I think he worked hard to ensure he did the best he could. Although he did not know much about specific equipment and other pool questions, he did not hesitate to find out answers to our questions. Thank you so much, Nick!
• Pool selection: the pool we initially wanted was unavailable in the region, but there was a large selection of different pool manufacturers to choose from. I think you'll find many choices to suit your needs.
• Price: I didn't see a disparity in prices regarding fiberglass pools. We had a concrete pool in Florida and had heard that fiberglass is not a bad option for places like North Carolina or other states up north. The prices were significantly higher in North Carolina, but I assume that varies from region to region.
NEGATIVES
• Build process: I had to remind them that certain portions of each phase were complete so they could return and finish their job; you will likely have to do the same as it appears there is no project manager- you may have to fill that role.
• Certified checks only. It is interesting to point out that they want you to certify the checks you provide them, which costs additional money on your end. Good luck getting the same results from them; you almost have to beg them to do their job.
• Quality control. Once the pool was "completed," many things were still not functioning correctly. We found the heater didn't work when the pool school lady came by to clean the pool. I also pointed out that the silicone on the spa was coming off, which took quite a while for them to fix after I reminded them numerous times. That has become a recurring problem; it continues to come off, and water leaks into the crack.
• I also noticed the spa water draining down to the return valve when the pump was off, which made the fiberglass detach from the spillover section, as there was no pressure on the spa to push against the spillover wall – a mess they never addressed. I also pointed this out with pictures and video clips on several occasions. One of the company owners (Shaun) said he would handle it later, but he never did… what a surprise
• Unprofessional work. Dirt, gravel, and debris in the backyard. I understand that the backyard will not be the same after the build, but wow, they left trash out, nails, excessive amounts of gravel in the area with grass, and uneven patches of dirt; they did not put effort into trying to level it a bit. They said they would address this but never did. I kept all the messaging data documented on their ghosting app called "Basecamp." It's a hit or miss with that app. Maybe it'll work for you; we hated it.
• Concrete Company. Parrot Bay said they would credit that $1500 (which they charge you upfront in the pool contract- what a joke!) to Chasen Concrete (the concrete company that works on the spa and can do the pool concrete for only an "arm and a leg"). The problem is that the $1500 will NOT make them come to do any work, not to mention that Parrot Bay has already paid them for the spa work. Be advised that Chasen Concrete will not proceed with any work unless they can make a significant profit, plus they will charge for concrete equipment rentals. A concrete company that has to rent equipment and charge the naive customer for those rentals — sounds crazy, right, like mechanics charging you to rent tools to work on your vehicle. The price will hurt your wallet unless you have a substantial amount of money to waste; however, you'll find out that their work is subpar when their concrete work shows deficiencies, as happened to me with the spa, which I pointed out to Parrot Bay. The company said they would contact the Concrete Company; guess what happened? Nothing as usual- I never heard back from them.
• Reputation. You'll find some good reviews, which I was surprised about, but I'd like to think that Parrot Bay had something good going; since they built my pool, it is in my best interest that they recover and do well. However, you will also find plenty of bad ones.
Also, many know of Parrot Bay Pools' reputation, but you will likely not hear nice things. I had the displeasure of getting that sort of negative comments from the sources below; sadly, Parrot Bay had already built my pool:
o The gas company. I rather not discuss what the employees who came to set up my natural gas line for the spa mentioned about Parrot Bay, but it was bad.
o Other pool companies: I hired another pool company to check their work; I just can't trust them anymore. They did not express themselves well about this company.
o The technician who is working on fixing the heater that Parrot Bay installed seven months ago, which no longer works. He recommended not to do business with them.
o Other people. Just mention the Parrot Bay Pools; many already know of their reputation.
Conclusion
Parrot Bay may not be the best option for you, but they could turn things around. I don't want them to go out of business, but they have work to do to improve their current reputation. Maybe you have a different opinion about them, and that's fine. I want to think that they are not that bad. However, I cannot recommend them to anyone, as I will not risk damaging my credibility with a corporation like Parrot Bay Pools.

We recently used Parrott Bay pools for our fiberglass pool. We went with them because of their excellent customer service. Christine was our sales person and so knowledgeable and personable. Even texting me with info when in the hospital and in labor with her twins. Reed was our main contact after sales and the one we called/texted with any questions along the way.
Super responsive as well, even if we texted him while on vacation, early in the morning or late at night. He gets things done. Great guy who made the experience pretty painless along the way. If you are looking for a pool i would recommend. Start to finish 2 months! Can't complain. Thanks guys!

We are in the process of completing a pool construction with Parrot Bay Pools. They have been very responsive to each communication and I am very appreciative of Reed, our client relations staff member, for his constant communication on status throughout the process. Several times he has made ad hoc visits to our site to assist in pool control setup and to ensure we were satisfied with work completed to-date.
As with many services across industries, delays in shipping and backordered items can effect projects. This has not been our experience with Parrot Bay and our project has moved at relative pace. We are excited for the memories we will make and the enjoyment we will reap from our Parrot Bay pool.

Parrot Bay pools were incredible. They built us a beautiful pool. Their knowledge and dedication to their business were amazing. They are always available to help us or answer questions even after the pool went in. We will continue to use them for all put pool needs. We had a great experience with Parrot Bay Pools. The installation of our pool exceeded our expectations. Our sales agent Nick was amazing and went out of his way to ensure we had a great experience. There were however two areas where things could have been better, only one of which Parrot Bay could fix. We did not get our pool cleaned thoroughly prior to it being released to us.
The girl that was supposed to clean it only came out once! Nick (our sales agent) came out on his own to clean what he could, but it still needed a third cleaning which was never done. The other area of improvement was the wait time for the concrete company Parrot Bay recommended. Chasen Concrete took 3-4 weeks to get out to the house to lay the concrete around the pool.
We used Chasen because they are experienced in laying concrete for pools. We ended up using a different concrete company to complete both of the additional concrete slabs that we added. The company that layed the slabs (Concrete LLC) also built the beautiful retaining wall and laid sod for a price that beat what we could get from Chasen. Chasen does not build full retaining walls so we would have had to use Concrette LLC anyway.
We used Concrete LLC because we trust their work since they have extended our backyard patio and driveway in the past. Overall, I would 100% recommend Parrot Bay Pools to install your pool.

I have always wanted an inground pool and I finally made the decision to do it! This company did a great job in the process and we are very pleased with our final product! Once install started we had the pool in the ground and with water within 3 days. Realistically, this process is messy and people need to have that expectation, you are digging a hole in your yard LOL! But they were professional, effective and clean (as dirt moving can be) I'm looking forward to the years to come with gatherings at my home while we enjoy our pool!

We ordered our pool in Oct of 2020. Unfortunately, the Thursday Pool that we wanted had no local dealers. Thursday Pools recommended Parrot Bay. Even though we were not in their normal service area they agreed to help us out. Then we waited. Thursday Pools was a little behind in getting our pool to Parrot Bay so our hoped for April/May did not happen until late June.
But when it happened, it was all hands on deck. Everyone was great to work with and extremely helpful. I wish we had been able to enjoy more of our pool this summer, but we are ready for next year

We started our process with Parrot Bay in Spring of 2020. They were very responsive during the purchasing process. Choosing our pool, following up and moving forward with the contract. Once the contract was signed and deposit was made, communication became very spotty. They use an app for communication and it would take me multiple comments to receive a response, which would be vague.
The timing for getting our pool was also VERY up in the air and they didn't communicate well on this at all. Definitely an area they need to work on to have happy customers. With all that being said, once the installation process got started, it was easy sailing from there. Their construction crew was top notch and did a wonderful job. My kids were home, due to covid, and watched the WHOLE process.
The guys were great talking to me, my kids and my husband, who were all so interested in the process. They pretty much installed our pool in 2 days and didn't leave a mess behind. I forget the name of who our main construction guy was, but he was excellent! So in the end, we got a beautiful pool and we couldn't be happier with the end result. We chose Parrot Bay because they were the only dealer in the area that carried the Roman Lounger pool and this was the pool we REALLY wanted. It was a rocky beginning, but we are SO happy with the end result!

I had contacted another pool company last year but was told pools could not be installed due to COVID-not essential needs. A friend had a pool installed by Parrot Bay without any issues last year so that is who I turned to. In June of 2021 my pool became reality. Maybe that was an omen that the other company mislead me, anyway their loss. and I am happy with Parrot Bay!
From the decision process to the installation and beyond they were there to guide me. No pressure sales, and I changed my mind a few times on which design I wanted. The manufacturer of the pools has great videos on various pool concerns, cost, right size, etc and I did my homework. I probably had 20 questions before I committed but they were all easily answered.
They do all the work with the county inspector; I did have to shift the location of the pool due to regulations but I had 2 options that were drawn. They are excellent to work with as all communication is within in a group chat so everyone knows what is happening. Everyone from sales to installation and pool training have been very nice and cooperative. I would highly recommend this company to anyone that wants a pool. Great service, great people!
