One of their drivers was extremely rude yelling at me to turn when there was a elderly man in the intersection walking slowly. The driver looked like Santa, chill out Santa when driving, plus the name of the company you work for is all over your van! I'm never calling them with pool problems!

I checked their hours on line to make sure they were open before driving from Kaimuki to their Kalama Valley location at 2 in the afternoon. I arrived only to find the door to the store locked and nobody inside. Another customer soon arrived and he followed in my footsteps to find the door locked. We waited a bit thinking the proprietor had only left temporarily.

Sure enough he pulled up in his pickup after about 15 minutes. We started following him to enter the store but he turned to us and said they had decided to close at 1 pm. But no sign to that effect on the door, nothing on their website, and nothing on their answering service (which I called while waiting). I needed one part for my pool cleaner and asked if I could purchase it.

He answered NO though it would have taken 5 minutes at most. I had already wasted a chunk of my afternoon driving 10 miles (each way) for nothing due to their lack of any communication about not abiding by their published hours. If you are thinking that I was less than happy about this experience and that awarding them 1 star would be, in my humble opinion, incredibly generous, you are very perceptive!

The owners are awesome very reliable price and service is out of this world these guys know their stuff.

Showed up at 8:55 am - 5 mos prior to posted 9am opening on Saturday. Not open at 9am and no note on the door explaining why not. Two others, both men, also waiting outside the closed and locked door. Finally departed at 10:07am.

I had my pool light due the weekend of a big Bday party. Called Mark and he came right over on a Saturday morning and replaced my old light with a cool new multicolor LED light. Very friendly and great service!

I like to purchase from local business people but when you are put on hold for 20 minutes with a simple pricing question, can't give you my support.

Sad. The guy is supposed to come once a week to clean/vacuum our pool. Sits in our driveway for 20 minutes before he even get out of his truck AND then all he does is skim the pool. THATS IT! Nothing more, nothing less and I pay 155/mo. Tried calling the owner but he never called back. Called their shop and told them do not come back. F*%k them. Absymal service

I have never had to take care of a pool before. I had tons of questions and I'm sure I tested their patients for sure. When I had a problem with the pump and filter, they didn't over charge me. It's a big task taking care of a pool. I love going to their store in Kalama Valley! Now with a visit every week our pool looks great! The guys at Oahu Pool and Spa really work hard to keep us happy!

Very knowledgeable, able to get any pool and jacuzzi supplies I need. Repair service gets the job done right the first time. Took one star off only due to follow up and returning calls is not perfect. So they way I look at it they are not super fast with returning calls, they make up for it with great pricing and solid work.

I would not recommend this company at all. They were hired to service the pool five times a week, but clearly that is not happening because there are mold in the pool. It's the summer, and we can't swim in the pool because this company, though they're taking our money, isn't cleaning it. They are paid to do one job they claim to specialize in and they aren't holding their end of the bargain. It's horrible.

We purchased our home almost 3 years ago and the main reason we wanted it was because it came with a pool and spa. What we didn't realize was that the spa wouldn't hold water and the heater was broken. Over the course of 3 years as my spa turned into a green swamp that I had to repeatedly empty out by hand to avoid a mosquito infestation, we contacted many pool repair companies.

Most of the time we got no response to our messages and the one time we lucked out and got someone to come out, he suggested we collapse the spa and get an above ground spa because basically it wasn't worth the hassle and cost to fix! As I went through a recent phase of longing for a working spa, I took a chance and contacted Oahu Pool & Spa for the simple fact that they had "spa" in their name so they had to be able to fix it, right?

My hunch paid off! They responded right away and said a technician would be out at the end of the week to check it out. Mark ended up coming sooner! He said he could replace the broken heater and as for the spa, not holding water, he recommended that he redo the plumbing and hopefully that would solve the problem, if not, it was probably a more serious issue with a pipe leak under ground.

He ordered the parts and before I knew it, he was back with a new heater and was able to redo a lot of the plumbing and replace the check valves that were suspected of being the problem. The work was done quickly and efficiently and I was able to have a working spa in time for my Easter party. When the power went out to my pool pump the next day, Mark came right back to troubleshoot and fix the problem which was basically just because the heater hadn't been used in so long there were issues with the wiring being old.

My spa mostly holds water now. Certainly enough that we can use it. There seems to be a small leak probably underground. Mark recommended a leak detection company like Aqua Blue and said they're the best at detecting leaks. I highly recommend Oahu Pool & Spa for their responsiveness, knowledge, willingness to troubleshoot through a problem and work with the customer on a timeline.

The owner is extremely unhelpful to the point of rudeness, as is the other sales person I have dealt with here. Clearly pool servicing is the main business and they do not care at all about private customers buying low cost items. I bought a pool light bulb that burned out in 5 weeks - the previous one, also bought from these folks at their previous location, lasted 5 years.

Obviously the new one was faulty. The owner flatly refused to replace it or reimburse me. Even when I bought it in the first place he clearly was not really interested in helpful customer service. Do not go here. If I could give them zero stars I would.

Extremely helpful service! Helped us troubleshoot our problems. The gasket he recommended for our pool pump fit perfectly and was priced great.under $4 including tax!

Lucky we live Hawaii? First & last time shopping here. Stopped by to get a couple of parts to fix our pool pump, thought the prices were a little high, but needed to get the pump working quickly for my sons birthday party. Spent $82.45 for 3 items, googled prices when I got home (see the photos above) Gasket was $43 - online price$8.89 O-ring was $21.76 -online price $8.95 Silicon was $13.99 - online price $6.03 $82.46 verses $23.87 - that's some markup :-( Some markup is expected living here, but that is very excessive. Hard to shop local and support small business with that pricing.

They do our pool and the staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Good service. Very reliable.

Kahny C. I don't think they even deserved a star I never been on Yelp before cause their pool service so bad that I have to share everyone to beware Waste money and times. We just cancel their service today. 2months ago we fix the pool and found the Oahu pool and spa right down the street from my house at Kahala mall, they charge quite amount to start clean up the pool and I hired them for monthly service for 150$ per month, come service once a week.

After first clean up he confirm everything clean ready to use. So the deal is he suppose to come once a week to clean! But not that I know, the pool turn green my husband call him and he answer "I don't know ". How the hell he doesn't know. They name them self : they are professional.by the time for them to come back the pool turned black, and they clean, treated brought it back normal again, I still give them a change continued service.

This month I have not seen him, but they consider they been service every week. My husband thought so too. But I knew they never cause the grass been cut and flew in the pool, they never clean it out, and yesterday my pool turn green again. Now I know they just take the money no give service as they said. That is cheating. I quickly keep them away from my home.

You will find no other pool company who knows more about your parts and equipment. These are just regular guys who are working hard to do the best that they can with temperamental and sometimes spoiled and nasty customers who expect to have their questions answered immediately without all the information in. I watched one of the owners juggle three people in the store with the phone to his ear answering questions while directing one of his techs about a customer's pool problem.

I have read the reviews and I think the people who wrote them were not fair or rational and by rational I mean they let the personal situations hard as they were play into their attitude while dealing with the company and while writing their reviews. I think that if they had communicated the issues properly to the staff there would have been help but if they went in arguing right away the staff has every right to be defensive.

I also have worked in retail for a very long time and I know that when you are dealing with people with an attitude and a mean demeanor from the get go you are normally dealing with someone you will probably not want to serve again. So I think asking them not to call again is acceptable behavior from someone who really shouldn't have to defend themselves from attack.

I highly recommend this company if they can't answer your problem or replace a part right now they will work on it until they find what you need. The manager of the store worked for a distributer for many years before he moved to this store and he may not have the part you need on hand but he will know where to find it!

Wish I could also give this establishment a zero star. Their phone etiquette is terrible! In this day and age, you have to be professional and courteous. Not the girl that was on the other end. Lost my business. I try to support local businesses, but with front line people like her, she will only hurt their bottom line. Purchased the things I needed online, no fuss, no attitude, cheaper prices, and I got FREE shipping. Good luck to OP&S. They may have been in business for a few years, but might not grow with this type of reputation!
