A Handyman's Haven was started in April 1999 by Maurice and Sonja Saroni as a returned merchandise business, where merchandise was purchased from brokers, retailers, etc. throughout the USA. These items were then sold at a savings of 50% - 70%. Our clients came from throughout Arizona, Western New Mexico, and Mexico.
Many customers found us through our original website that listed more than 10,000 items for sale. In 2003, a major shift in the returned products market resulted in a reassessment in the direction of the Company. By Spring 2004, A Handyman's Haven implemented a new business model and this resulted in the current direction of the Company.

This establishment is all over the place with customer service and abilities. We came in looking to purchase countertop laminate and were helped by a very kind lady named Rebecca. She answered all of our questions, gave us all of the information we needed while checking with the assembly technician. We set a plan to take samples and come back to get what we needed.
When we returned we were met by a different lady named Becky who acted as though our questions and requests were such an inconvenience to her personally and she could not possibly help us. She was exceedingly rude and ultimately said everything rebecca had told us was wrong and they couldnt help us without a multiple day delay and an additional charge.
We left not making a purchase which is a bummer for us as we were trying to go local rather than from a big box store and should be a bummer for them as she couldnt accomplish the task of customer service.

Over the course of two days we worked with the owner to get a quote on five base cabinets for a kitchen. Repeating ourselves about what we wanted, it became very apparent that they only wanted to sell their two base options. Which is fine and understandable but not what we wanted. We came in Thursday afternoon explaining we wanted a natural light maple/ash/alder cabinet.
We left Friday morning with the owner explaining that we could paint the cabinets any color we wanted. Yet again we had to reiterate that's not what we came in for. They were busy and short staffed, we are busy with a home remodel. Seemed like waste of everyone's time. Nice folks and a good place if you want oak cabinets or painted ones on a budget.

HIGHEST recommendation of A Handyman's Haven for all your cabinet and countertop needs! Our kitchen and bathroom remodeling project went smoothly and efficiently - you are truly in the hands of experts when you go to A Handyman's Haven. We honestly couldn't be happier. The staff is helpful and creative, and highly organized. (Plus, the prices are much better than the big box stores.) This local gem is the best place to go!

I've never posted a review online before but my experience with A Handyman's Haven was so terrible I feel strongly that I should warn people about them. I wanted to do a dream kitchen remodel after finally buying buying a home. I have never done a remodel as I've never been in a position to afford to remodel anything. I had heard good things about A Handymans Haven as a 'kitchen design' store.
Their website, Facebook, etc. all say they offer 'kitchen design'. I met with a young woman who worked there and told her I had no experience in ordering cabinets, counters, etc. I brought in measurements that were done by another kitchen design place. I showed her pictures of what I wanted and specifically said I wanted a cutting board countertop.
Her boss told me how hard it is to maintain and suggested I look at Formica counters that would look like Butcher Block. I was grateful for the suggestion and the young woman showed me samples online. The picture she showed me looked beautiful and I chose one that she said would definitely look like the picture I brought in. When it arrived at their store I told her that is wasn't like the picture she showed me.
She said it was 'probably the lighting'. I didnt like it at all! It looks like a piece of laminated wood flooring-not Butcher Block and certainly not the beautiful rich brown color I showed her in the picture I brought. Long, panic attack invoking story later, the manager basically said I could buy different ones but he wouldn't exchange or refund my money because they were customer ordered.
He literally told me I 'should have known' that anything I look at online has the chance to come looking completely different. When I told him I was counting on his 'kitchen design' person to make sure I was getting what I wanted he just didn't budge on his stance that "I should have known." I chose cabinets too but I was naive and assumed they would have full shelves.
They came with half shelves and again I was told 'I should have known this is standard.'After other mistakes on their part-including ordering the wrong size island and then reordering it but cutting it too short, I am stuck with a kitchen that isn't my dream kitchen. Honestly, they are awful and I strongly advise to not use them for 'kitchen design.'

It was very hard to get service even though the place was empty of customers. Once we were acknowledged we purchased a door for our house they don't offer delivery or installation but instead gave us the number of someone who did installation. It took over three weeks to get the door then was told by the contractor that we shouldn't replace the door just get better insulation for it. We ended up needing a different size door but they wouldn't take the door back for credit towards a different door. Overall our experience was not good.

I had a great experience getting new kitchen cabinets from Handyman's Haven. The staff was knowledgeable and extremely helpful. I live in Sierra Vista and drove to Tucson to use their service. Handyman beat HomeDepot and Lowes price drastically. Handymans customer service was unbeatable, they were all friendly and willing to answer questions. The cabinets arrived quickly and in great condition.
I had a difficult time installing one cabinet but after a phone call to Handyman Haven (Their Warehouse Manager) was able to diagnose the issue and tell me how to fix the issue. I highly recommend buying ftom Handyman Haven.

Hello Tucson, I've read some of the bad reviews and felt compelled to write a review. It was quite a daunting task redoing my kitchen since I had never in my life done cabinets or counter-tops. I was referred to A Handyman's Haven from a friend so I just stopped by to talk to them. They were helpful and professional from the start. They helped me through every step of the way which was especially helpful since I'm cheap and wanted to do everything myself which doesn't make them any more money. Yes, you do need to know basics like how to measure and understand simple instructions but found that youtube.com was helpful too.
I think if you're looking for a place that'll hold your hand, you'll want to pay a carpenter to do the details for you. If you're somewhat handy or what bit more a challenge for a great price, The Handyman's Haven is the place for you. Thanks, Nigel

On September 16, 2017 I called the Handyman store to get a price on having my door cut for me. I wanted both sides of my door cut so it could fit a pantry closet. I was given a quote of $15.00 each cut and I agreed. I took my door and asked for assistance to have the door brought down from my vehicle. The young man brought the door in and an older man with the big mustache came up to him and listened to our conversation.
After assessing the door the older man with the big mustache gave a new quote of $30.00 each cut. I asked him why the big jump on the price and he answered upset, stating the the person that gave me the quote didn't see the door to realized it was a solid door. I explained to him that I did tell the young lady that answered the phone that it was a very heavy door.
I tried to negotiate a price with the man but he said the price was not negotiable. I told him that next time he needs tell his staff to clarify to customers that the price they give is just an estimate. I would have paid the extra money even if it was double if the man with the mustache would have answered me so rudely. I will NOT be recommending this location to any one. On the other hand Woodworks on Palo Verde gave a quote of 15.00 for both side and completed the job for the amount they stated.

We're replacing the 6-panel hollow-core doors in the house with solid 2-panel knotty pine. After shopping around and being floored by the prices at the "economy" and "discount" door suppliers, we almost gave up. Then, the day we were driving down 6th Avenue to the rodeo, we passed Handyman's Haven and decided to give them a look. It was actually several weeks later when we finally got around to heading down there.
What I found was a fantastic showroom with tons of samples, and the ability to order doors in virtually any configuration and dimension, at prices that were over $100 per door less than the other stores. Besides the material side of the business, there is another great resource down there and his name is Maurice. Maurice knows doors like nobody's business.
These are slab doors I'm installing, not pre-hung, so I have to do all of the hinge mortises and drill for the door locks. Maurice is a wealth of information about the best way to do things. Today we were shopping for a pair of 18" doors to replace a 36" door into the laundry room/butler's pantry. We wanted glass inserts to allow the light from the window in there to fill in a dark space in the hallway just outside.
After Maurice explained their process of ordering standard paneled doors, routing out the panels and glazing the glass in its place, I realized I could do the work myself, and wind up saving $100 in labor. He was very thorough in his explanation of the process they use, so I'm confident of being able to do the job right. They also have a great selection of cabinet hardware, trim pieces, the list goes on-and-on.

Not only did they do a terrible job designing my kitchen, they said at the end that it was my fault. I know nothing about designing cabinets for a kitchen, so I deferred to the "experts". They also called me a liar a couple of times about items not delivered and/or not returned. They charged me and extra $30 for a cabinet door they simply forgot to attach, refusing to give us what we paid for. have three independent people confirming an entire missing cabinet door.
Their team is so clueless they had no idea what was delivered or not, yet they swore up and down they delivered pieces they did not. Furthermore, the cabinets are pretty terrible in quality and feel like they are going to break at any moment. Would never do business ever again.

Great people and really try to work with you. Most people want custom cabinets and expect to get them the next day, but don't understand that they can't control the shipping estimate. So if you want cabinets they have to order, don't get upset if you have to wait a while. With me they got exactly what I need and worked with me on the price and estimated time. I am completely happy with the results.

These guys are "nice" at first. Then, they promised us a delivery date after we tell them how important the timing is (trying to sell our house). They didn't call us to notify us it was going to be 2 weeks late. We had to call them to find out why they were not delivered on time. They offered a "sorry" and nothing more. After this debacle (which cost us thousands of dollars), we find out that they "designed" a "dead" space bigger than an entire stove.
My wife thought they meant "blind", not "dead". But there were several ways of designing it so there wasn't 8 sq. ft. of totally wasted space (in an already small kitchen). Furthermore, they designed a random cabinet to be in the middle of the floor (not against a wall), because of this same terrible design. Immediately after we spoke with our contractor, he told us there was one cabinet which was missing a door.
We told them about it and they said no problem, we could get it when we came back for the missing shelves they forgot to give us as well. When we finally came for the door, they refused to give it to us, telling us that we were lying to them and that we were trying to profit a cabinet door. Big fight with my pregnant wife over it, too, upsetting her quite a bit.
Why on earth would we try to profit a cabinet door? Turns out the cabinets are really cheap, too. The bottoms of the drawers are paper thin and will break in no time flat. These guys lost lots of business over things totally within their control. We spent thousands of dollars there.you should be treating your customers better than that. Don't do business here.
