DO NOT PAY UNTIL JOB IS SATISFACTORILY COMPLETE. I am still waiting for a call back to get a refund for work they refused to complete. No calls back. Letters returned unopened. These people feel they owe nothing to the public. They are takers, not servicers of the public. BAD BUSINESS PRACTICES. BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE.

I would like to echo Scott Chilcotes review. The initial consult and quote was well within what other flooring company's had given. That was the extent of their customer service though. I am now on month 2 of awaiting for them to complete the job despite numerous phone calls, emails and assurances. I have utilized my personal time off from work on two separate occasions to wait for them to complete the job and both times they have yet to show or even call, complete disregard for my time and the money I invested in this flooring project.
The extent of my displeasure with this business is beyond words that can be expressed in this format. I would be happy to answer questions honestly to anyone considering this flooring company. Is the product that is installed nice? Yes. But when a job is left incomplete it cannot be enjoyed.

The workmen were on time, worked quickly, and were able to do the entire job without problems, except they could not reseat the toilet because of the new flooring, so they credited me $60, their estimate to get the toilet reset. It actually cost me more than $60, but the plumber made other adjustments, so I was ok with it. The flooring looks great, and the had a number of details like a pantry, closet, & bathroom areas to deal with. We're very pleased with the quality of the flooring and the work was reasonably priced.

I had several problems with Carolina Flooring replacing the floor in my master bath. There was a lack of communication between the person that came to my home to take measurements and find out the basic project needs and the person that created the estimate. When the guys came out to work on my floor, they discovered that it was different than what they were led to expect.
To their credit, they admitted fault and did not charge me more for the extra work that they didn't plan for correctly. After discovering that there was an issue, however, it took weeks to get them to work out the plan to finish the work. They would never call me or reply to my messages - I finally had to show up at the show-room to get things resolved.
While on site, it seemed that the guys doing the actual work had no autonomy to make decisions and had to run everything by the boss. The boss never came to my house and relied on texted photos to understand issues during the process. The guys that did the actual install did a great job, though, and I'm happy with the results.

I spent over twelve thousand dollars on materials and services from Carolina Flooring. Their initial work with me was congenial and courteous, and their estimates were reasonable. However, their follow-through was abysmal. Their work was sloppy and caused substantial damage to plumbing fixtures, walls, trim, and appliances. Once their workers left they ignored my emails requesting compensation. Specifically: 1) their contractor removed two toilets in my home to install vinyl flooring.
He reinstalled those toilets apparently without replacing the seals, which were damaged by his actions. As a result both fresh water and sewage leaked out onto the new bathroom floors and spread. Our home was unoccupied at the time, and this carelessness caused expensive damage. It also required me to take time off work to arrange repairs. 2) Their carpeting installation caused many dents and scrapes to walls and trim throughout the home we were preparing to sell.
The walls and trim had been freshly painted, and the paint contractors used blue tape to show us all of the damage that the Carolina Flooring installers had caused. We had to pay a few hundred dollars more to have this damage repaired. 3) Carolina Flooring's estimates were misleadingly low. They did not include the cost of the materials that are needed to level floors that had builder-installed carpeting.
We were not informed of these additional costs until the installers arrived, weeks later. A professional flooring installer has no excuse not to tell you these costs up front - not surprise you with it at the last minute. This deprived us of being able to make a fair comparison of the estimates we received. 4) I paid the initial deposit for the flooring installation with a credit card. Carolina Flooring kept my credit card number, and proceeded to charge for the full installation weeks later - without my permission.
This was two days before the installation was completed. A few days later, they charged my card for the additional materials they needed to level the floors - again without my permission. I do not even know if this is legal. I have never left a bill for any service unpaid, but this is the first time my card has been charged without my specific approval. Lastly, 5) The back of the estimates provided by Carolina Flooring are covered with dense fine print.
According to Carolina Flooring, this contractual language absolves them from responsibility for incidental damages caused by their work. Also according to Carolina Flooring, this contractual language absolves them from using plastic sheeting and masking tape - what might be considered "reasonable care", to keep from causing damage to the customer's property during flooring installation and refinishing.
I contend that this attempt to deny responsibility for their actions is not consistent with accepted practice. When I need to have flooring installed again, I will look long and hard at all of the other local contractors.
