United Fence Company In the early 1950s, Dan Mitchell moved from Sherman, Texas to Columbus to open a fence company. For the next ten years he was in partnership with several different local businessmen, working in various fence companies in Columbus. In 1964, Dan became partners with Bryan Pennell, opening United Fence Company, initially located on Talbotton Road.

Dan eventually became the sole owner of United Fence Company which has operated in Columbus continuously since its inception in 1964. Over the years, the type of fencing in which they specialize has evolved. In the early years of operation, chain link fencing was their main product.

Refuse to come out and repair the fence. Won't even answer the phone. Just poor business skills, especially in keeping clients.

How they stay in business beats me. Called them and set up an appointment to come see job, someone came out, but said there was too much going on at the time and they would come back later on. Fast forward a week, called and set up another appointment, guess what, a no show.

Hired then to build a fence 7 years ago. From the first year I had issues. Boards popping loose, nails coming out, etc. I called them then and no response despite the guarantee. 7 years later it is literally falling down because they did not use industry standard 16 ft boards.
