As others have already stated, this company is a SCAM! DO NOT BUY solar panels from them! Once you have an issue with their panels, you will experience their customer service AFTER they have your money, which as they stated to me via phone, they have no contractual obligation to fix your panels within any timeframe and no visibility into what the estimated timeframe is to service your panels.
My panels are $50k and normally produced $220/month in electricity and have been producing $0 since 5/8/22 due to a bad inverter. I've called them at least 6-12 times and sent them a dozen e-mails to get this resolved. They are unwilling to provide contact information for a manager or supervisor. The agents stick to a script which engages the caller in a plethora of stalling tactics.
The company only began returning my calls after submitting a complaint via the Better Business Bureau, but still they only call me to tell me that they are always waiting for some other department to do something for me and that I'm unable to be transferred to the department that is supposed to contact me and unable to call them myself. In Hawaii, they have 1 service technician to service the entire state. Not a coincidence that they have the minimum number of technicians not equal to 0. I now have a $50k paperweight. Avoid them at all costs!

One of the worst customer service experiences I've ever had. I bought my solar system from them ahead of selling my house. The process was horrible. I had to call and email multiple times every step of the way to see progress made. I no longer live in the United States so I can't receive phone calls on my American number anymore. I repeatedly asked them to communicate with me over email and they just kept calling. It's now almost three months after I bought the system and sold the house and Sunnova is still sending me invoices. I've emailed them repeatedly asking them to stop and asking them to respond by email to tell me what the problem is.
They have never emailed me back. I called in today and they told me that their legal documents don't show that I purchased the system from them. I was asked to send them the documents proving I had purchased the system. Let me repeat that- They asked me to send back to them the legal documents which they had created and sent to me months ago. It's like I'm in a relationship where my ex repeatedly has just one more thing that she needs from me and won't leave me alone. Please let me move on with my life, Sunnova.

They prey on the elderly like my parents who weren't even able to read the contract and were lied to about costs ($40,000) and pressured to sign the contract. In January my parent's home burned down, and my father was killed in the fire. My mother cannot sell the home until the contract with Sunnova is resolved. Despite weekly and at times daily attempts to contact them for the past five months nothing has been done and nobody has given us any answers on how to move forward.
On top of that, they are still charging my mother monthly fees for an inoperable system on an unlivable house. So my mother is stuck with her home's contents being looted, unable to get it demolished and sold because Sunnova will not do anything or even speak to us. It is reprehensible to treat a grieving widow who has lost everything in this callous manner. DO NOT do business with this company!

They are the worst. PLEASE stay away. Trying to sell our home cost us thousands of dollars due to their incompentency. Never came through on commitments. Never got a name or the same person twice. Seriously the worst as testified by seller and buyer realtors. NEVER finance through them - they are shady at best. - posted my review! Got a canned response which asked for detail to my complaint.
Of course there is no way to respond directly. FYI - both parties, seller (me) and buyer are pursuing legal action against them. Additionally, if I find this rating buried, all the better for our action suit. We are suing for 200k

The worst solar company I have ever worked with. I am real estate agent and have seen my fair share of solar transfers, and Sunnova is by far the worst. Customer service is terrible. Every time call regarding your case number, it is a different rep, the have no idea what is going on, and the are not knowledgable.

Optional one time payment I made was returned 7 days later without explaining why. I made it his payment in order to keep my current monthly payment the same or else it would go up by 50.00 a month for 22 years. Now they are telling me I missed the deadline and won't honor the date I made that payment Even though they sent it back for no reason.
Of corse this benefits sunnova over the corse of the loan, and now it will cost me thousands more. I have filed complaints with the BBB and also with New York state's attorney generals offI've. Stay away from this company!

The experience with Sunnova Energy, with the original sales team, the installers of the 35 solar panels on the our roof, and support for the paperwork and permits and the now running of the solar panels was great. We are very pleased that we went ahead with this. Our Sunnova payments are around say 35% less than $200 plus that we were paying to our original electricity provider.
Rhythm Energy, is our new provider and for the four months that we have been with them, our bills are zero, in fact we have a credit with them of $229 at this time. From the math, at this time our combined power costs, Sunnova payments and from Rhythm Energy, are around $100 per month, 50% less than our original straight electricity bills.

My daughter got solar panels through this company and was told she would get a $750 bonus for a referral. I had solar panels installed with this company and was told that the referral amount was only $500 (1st deception). She submitted the paperwork as they had asked but when she tried to get her referral bonus, it was denied because they said she didn't meet the criteria.
First they said it was because she didn't have a 700 FICA score. That was bogus, then they said it was because she didn't write my name exactly how it was on my application. Numerous phone calls and they will not honor their offer. When I got my solar panels installed, I complained about a loose panel and wires bunched up underneath the panels that would more than likely case debris to get caught underneath. Went up to clean panels (first time on roof since installation) and noticed several broken roof shingles.
The roof was inspected by the company before installation and said it was good for another 10 years and they would be responsible for repairs if damaged shingles might have been caused during installation. For two months I dealt with the installers, Greenday, regarding issues. "We'll send someone out". Nothing happened. Contacted Sunnova, sent pictures upon request.
Still nothing has happened. It's been over two months now. They sure will take your money but do not honor their part of the contract. (Took me 4 months to even get a copy of my contract). If I would have known before installation how this company puts off and tricks their customers, I would have never used this company.

If I could give 0 stars, I would. There are several reasons for this - 1. Today marks 11 weeks that we don't have the Solar activated in our new home and they cannot provide us with what the hold up is and what actions have been taken to take our case forward. The only reason we hear is "We are waiting for approval from XYZ" 2. The paperwork done by their interconnections team is done by very incompetent people.
After writing clear names, addresses, and contacts for the name on the account, they got it wrong "3" times, and kept sending us incorrect documents to sign. I posted my first complaint about Sunnova and it's poor customer service and got a response from someone higher up in the company that was willing to help solve the issues I was dealing with. She wasn't that much help as I'm sure her hands are also tied and can't make certain decisions. Now they want me to pay upfront before the job is complete or has even started.
I did call her back after she returned my call and left another message with my concerns but to no avail. I need to get a new roof and the panels need to be removed. I have had to postpone this once after giving them a six week notice and have rescheduled. Canceled a vacation because of their inadequate service and I want this work done before monsoon season. ( if we are lucky enough to get rain).
I want the control to pay the electrical company direct after the job is done and not deal with Sunnova's customer service. This company is local with a great rating and if there are issues I feel I would get results. To me that makes sense. customer service should be number 1 and Sunnova needs so much help in this department. It starts at the top and works it's way down to the people answering the phone. Terrible company, if you have issues with roof leaks or anything due to the panels they will only offer you a buyout of your lease. That buyout is usually over 15 thousand dollars. Rude snobby customer service including even the ceo he just blocks you if ask for help. They just want your money and prey on the elderly especially. Stay awayyyyy from sunnova. Wish I could say this is a great idea to invest in this company. Unfortunately they have done very little for support and service. They are great at coming and doing the sales process. But I sit here with half of my solar panels not working, NONE of my batteries working and any phone call dead ends at "we'll call you back with your appointment date" that was 3 months ago. At the point where my lawyer is probably going to get involved. Don't trust this company and their false promises. They will pay for the good reviews.

Rude agent. Unhelpful at all. Lied to me in the phone. No way to contact supervisor or another team. Intransparent process throughout the contract. Agent can't even tell you how to connect the solar to the new internet service. Sending a technician takes over a week because they were "short-staffed", which forced me to pay hundreds of dollars without getting any real solar energy. Sunnova is shameless.
There are so many 1-star reviews and they don't even change. The customer service including the bot who's gonna respond an emotionless automatic message under my review is a joke. They are just a bunch of parasites sucking the blood of homeowners. Don't buy homes with Sunnova contracts.

I have to be honest about this installation. I received a very friendly and professional service from Sunnova and Wells Solar that did the installation of the solar panels. 3 Months now and I am extremely happy with my new electronic bill. As soon as the solar power is payed I will use them for my battery bank upgrade. Thanks to all!

I live in Hawaii and our PV system sucks. First our system was under sized by a sales rep that just took his Commission and ran. We been having issues from the start. Very poor and lame service when we call their customer service line. I strongly DO NOT recommend getting yours PV system with them. Notation:2 Issues- first your sales rep Andrew under sized our system.
I told him that we needed two battery packs from the start. He said he would make the corrections but he never did. He also said since he made the mistake, he would refund his commission back to us. He never did. Second: the system took weeks to install. Third: we've been having issues with the system not working correctly. Note: your customer service line never returned our calls with updates on our issues.
Overall poor rating all around. We were informed that when the power grid goes down, our panels shut down and don't Produce power for our house and battery pack even when the sun is out. Only miss that to have PV and not have power? Why have solar in the first place.

I purchased a home with your system already installed. I also bought a warranty for the system. I have been trying for 3 months to have a micro inverter replaced/repaired. Your customer service is absolutely horrible. I have called at least 6 times and I'm told the same thing every time. Someone will call and schedule a tech. Nobody has ever called.
I ask for a supervisor he (Louis) was no help, he only told me what the person who answered told me. I asked for his supervisor. He told me he did not have a number for anyone. Which is BS. I don't know what your paying your supervisor but if they can't help anyone you are wasting your money. my system still works that's the good thing. But I bet if your refrigerator freezer didn't work and you had to wait 3 months and still waiting you as a consumer would not be happy.

Solar was the answer to our outrageous utility bills every month. When we've called Sonnova they have been quick to respond to our questions. The installation of our solar panels was so professionally done. The installers were gracious and had answers to all questions we asked them. Very knowledgeable, all of them. Of all the companies we looked into before solar, this is the one we chose mainly due to their reputation, knowledge and service to their customers.

He was courteous and friendly and helpful. We managed to navigate thru the process of transferring the system to the new buyers of our home. Patience and persistence paid off. I would give more stars had it not been for the difficulty at the beginning.

Don't do it! Do not go with this company. Had solar panels installed with the there is a "bumper to bumper" warranty. Was also told that they monitor everything and if something was amiss they would let us know. That didn't happen the panels quit working several times and we were never notified. I have a very demanding job so I can't stay on my app all day monitoring so I depended upon them.
Bad mistake. It would probably be best just to pay your electric bill and cheaper at that. I was guaranteed a certain output and I'm not getting it and I'm still having to pay electric bills. And they sent me an eight dollar check as a performance guarantee obligation. My system hasn't been working properly for months I think eight dollars is not gonna cover the amount I've lost.

We live in Waterford CT and have a small retirement ranch home with near perfect Solar access. We've be considering adding Solar to our roof since 2015. We got FIVE estimates, three were credible but all were dismissed as impractical considering our ages, now 70 & 74. Then Candace Burridge from Trinity & Sunnova knocked on our door in November and made us rethink our objections.
Our home has oil heat & the same for domestic hot water but we do have four Mitsubishi split system heat units & an outdoor compressor unit for air conditioning. Our solar system at 61k annual power production will provide 101% of our electricity at a modest dollar saving. We are no expecting a huge saving but enough to move us forward. More important for this review of the Trinity/Sunnova partnership in making our decision a reasonable one for us is the fact that to date all work by the Trinity Solar installation team has been performed "on time" and "as promised".
The workmen have been responsible, cooperative, and informative. The background support from the conscience office has been communicative every step of the way and our system was up and running on time as expected. We have our net meter installed and operational. Our first billing cycle is scheduled for next month, March 2022. So far I can highly recommend the Trinity/Sunnova working relationship.
It has allowed us to achieve the benefit of green solar energy we have been seeking for seven years. In our opinion this is a win-win for us and for the environment thanks to the NO up front cost program offered by Sunnova.

The company is a nightmare to deal with! I am selling the house, and because of them my escrow already delayed for 2 extra weeks! They keep lying about everything, it gets to a total absurd when we do an e-signature for a lease transfer, and they keep saying 3 days later that nothing was signed! I missed my mortgage payment and owe $115 in late fees. Buyers of the house had to move into hotel and loose $120+ per day! Escrow sent them prepaid FedEx label, they lyed again that the contract was shipped back on Friday.
Today is Tuesday, and let tracking number nothing was ever shipped! Customer service can't connect us with supervisor, promised that supervisor will call back, and nobody ever called us back. 5 people - 2 agents, buyer, seller, and escrow specialist are calling to Sunnova everyday with no results. STAY AWAY FROM THEM!

Sunnova Review Sunnova had an employee come out to my house to change the meter and he never switched the disconnect back on. Now I owe the power company $80 and Sunnova $80. And their customer service could care less. They didn't even use my name correctly, calling me Bob in their response. Also, the system never covers my usage in the summer and I always end up paying hundreds of dollars in power bills every single summer from the beginning.
This company is awful. I'll be reviewing them with this truth in every spot on the internet imaginable. If you see a Sunnova representative selling solar, run the other way as fast as you can.

Pertaining to working there. Its not so friendly towards African American males. It does not feel safe there. I personally worked for this establishment and leaving was one of the best decisions I could have possibly made due to their unfair practices. The company prefers Hispanic people in general. The call center also displays favoritism which makes people of African American descent feel the blunt force of the mistreatment. This is from the supervisor, managers, all the way down to the call center reps themselves.

We purchased a system through Sunnova with the understanding that we would have sufficient power to not have a significant true-up at the end of the year. Clearly the system we were sold is insufficient in spite of the fact that our energy usage has not gone up because we were stuck with a huge and unexpected true-up bill from PG&E. The customer service representatives at Sunnova have been useless and no one has been able to explain why our system is not meeting our needs. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH SUNNOVA!

My system took forever to be installed 5 months, they submitted the wrong plans to the County when it came to install the installer didn't show or call then showed very late in the day, with the wrong plans. The installer is from 3 hours away. The Company did not respond to my request for a owner of the company to call me. Even though my project is now up and going, I'm still waiting on the company to get back to me for compensation. Now I'm trying to get my rebate information, no one seems to know who I get it from.

I had Sunnova solar panels installed 5 years ago. Was told then that if I needed them removed and reinstalled for a new roof that the cost would be $550.00 to $600.00 which I knew then was a lie. I got a quote from one of their approved people to have the panels removed and reinstalled and it came in at $11,000.00. Even with Biden's current inflation, that is a big jump. So, I got my own quote, $6,014.00, from a reputable solar company and submitted the proper forms to Sunnova for approval.
After two weeks called to check on the status and was told that it could take up to 3 months for the approval process. I don't know what takes 3 months to check out but, I find this very hard to believe unless they get a cut from their approved people and don't want you to shop around. the $11,000.00 quote is more than the quote I got to replace the entire roof.

After your crew spent a full day here they told me it was fully fixed, I went down to the basement where the inverters are located, only to see that they are all in trouble and not working. I am disappointed frustrated and to be frank with you I am really sick and tired of this! Being that you are not able to resolve this each and every time you create an service call order, only to have someone come down to my house and tell me that they will fix it next time. (which takes at least three weeks to get someone to come down).

I am Happy to go solar. The salesman I had was great, answered any questions and concerns I had. Loved him. Customer Service and Concierge would call frequently to make sure I knew the status of the process. Answered any questions or concerns. They were friendly, courteous, polite, and nice when they called. The men that came over to install and do other matters were very respectful.
At times things appeared to be a little disorganized, as if there was a miscommunication among the staff. Overall I am satisfied, giving 4 stars only because of the disorganization from time to time but not too serious.

What can I say, after working here over a year I definitely learned being kind gets you absolutely nowhere in this company. Fair warning, if enter with a positive mindset, know that your spirit will be broken down with time. In my situation, my termination was a result of a rumor. My name was tossed around and used so I did what a normal person concerned for their professional reputation would do and went to HR.
The HR team who claim they have "no tolerance for gossip or water cooler talk" did nothing but keep the person who was spreading the rumors employed while myself and another got the short end of the stick and were terminated. If you are considering working here, please prepare to have your character questioned and your etiquette on trial daily. They hire and fire people in a cycle and I'll guess the turnover rate is about a 91%.
Truth be told, I'm surprised I even lasted as long as I did. The pay comparison between employees is also not ethical in the sense that you can have the same position, same job experiences, etc as someone else but they will still pay each you differently. In my time there, I'd seen multiple supervisors come and go. For this topic specifically, I'd like to go back to the "no tolerance for gossip" rule of thumb because oddly, the supervisors, who you'd expect to be the first to model this policy are the ones doing the most gossiping- and about each other at that. "Leaders" who call employees dumb when they don't grasp all the information of the company as quick as they'd like.
Not all the supervisors here are like tyrants, but there's only a small handful who have genuine intent for the teams that they oversee. Sunnova does not want employees, they want robots. People who will step on others in order to move up in the company. People who will constantly work the "mandatory over time" for this company that will let them go and happily replace them the next day. If you took the time to read through all of this, thank you.

I had Sonnova install my solar in May of 2019, I am selling my home and had an inspection showing 10-12 tiles missing in a row right above the solar. Had a licensed roofing company come out and he told me that there is no way 10-12 tiles blew off like that. He said that the solar company either didn't replace them or didn't replace properly causing them to come off.
In the 2 yrs I've lived here I have never seen a tile blown off the roof laying around. I'm very disappointed because I thought they were a reputable business. Instead they deny that they could have installed them poorly and come fix it. I have referred so many people to them and now I am being shoved under the rug. The job was bid by a licensed roofing company who submitted a bid of $3500 to fix it.

This company uses many contracted companies to do its work. They have absolutely horrible customer service once you sign on the dotted line. My solar panels were installed May 2021 and it is now the end of September 2021, Despite everything being submitted in a timely manner and me doing everything and submitting everything promptly. My solar panels are still showing as under installation. Absolutely the most horrible customer service. Do not use this company!

The worse! if you want solar not this company, the worse customer service, not knowledge any of anything, requesting a manger it's a nightmare lucky if you rec'd a call in a month, not trustable need attorney to deal with everything. price not accurate wait to surprise, the installation not professional!

I got Sunnova solar panels installed on my house 5 years ago. Pretty good rates, and no major issues. Now, trying to sell my house, I cannot get anyone to release the lien on my property and transfer to my new house. 3 weeks now, and not one thing has been done, now at risk to lose sale of house. Run, don't walk away from this company. These reviews were not available at the time to save me a major headache in the future.

Here is an email that I just sent to customer service, which I'm sure I won't hear back from. I received a disconnection notice in Spanish from Sunova today. 1 - I don't speak Spanish. 2 - we signed up with Sunova LAST SUMMER and had no one returning our calls or emails after our TWO HOUR in person appointment with your representative who wore no mask at the height of a pandemic and proceeded to talk about it being a hoax during our appointment.
No one ever installed solar panels on our roof (even though they were supposed to by November 2020). So you are disconnecting an account that does not exist. I really hope there is no outstanding balance since we never even received the product. I would rate our experience with Sunova a 0 out of 10, and plan to do so on every review forum I can find for terrible customer service and follow through - and now this. I'd say please call me to discuss, but we all know that isn't going to happen.

This solar company is a joke and horrible for someone to return a call. I had sunscreet that merged with these idiots and now saying I'm being disconnected when i bought my solar and not leased. I hate when companies switch over without wanting to merge with them. I'm waiting for a supervisor to get back to me.

Sunnova is the worst run company that I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with. They have terrible customer service, they do not abide by the contract, nor do they understand the details of that contract. I have received conflicting information about our account, billing, usage details of the contract and service arrangement. Basically, every time we have ever contacted their customer service, we have received differing and contradictory information.
That is when you can reach them, we must call several time or post negative reviews for them to respond to you. We have never had a single question answered by their team! I have never received a call for maintenance, which they are supposed to do automatically, according to the contract. When I emailed them about a bracket that fell off the panel 2 months ago, they asked me to take pictures, which I sent immediately, they still have not replied to me. They have not abided by the contract that we signed, and so I will have to think of other way to pursue them. Please do yourself a favor and never purchase this product.

Sunnova is the WORST solar provider. If 0 stars were available, that's what I would've selected. The only reason I was forced to use this provider was that I purchased a house with them being the current provider- with a 25 YEAR LEASE! If you are thinking of getting solar panels, DO NOT LEASE on your house. The contract is TERRIBLE. It protects them at all cost, if there's a class-action lawsuit, that doesn't allow you to break your contract, only via arbitration.
They NEVER escalate calls to management, managers are supposed to call you back, they never do, but don't you worry, if they need to collect payment from you, you'll get that call. The only way they will bring in a resolution team is if you email executives so I emailed the CEO, John Berger. It gets better, when we were closing escrow, they delayed the transfer agreement, DID NOT provide web access for 2 months, DID NOT tell me my production and usage amount, and EXPECTED me to blindly pay their service monthly fees when they hadn't turned on my panels for 2 months and I was using energy from SCE.
Do yourself the bigger favor and save yourself the greatest headache, go elsewhere. There's plenty of better solar providers, both with service and quality production. #SayNotoSunnova

Sunnova is the solar company of my new construction home, and by far, is the most difficult trade to schedule. My system needs to be turned on and it's been weeks of misses. I'm only available Thursdays through Saturdays due to work and have communicated that with several different representatives, on the phone and via e-mail, and still they can't get their technician out.
To spice things up, during one of the weeks, the technician decided to show up to my house unannounced, on my work day, and left a note saying I had missed him and to call to schedule an appointment. Calling in leads to a run around, where different reps have informed me that I will be contacted by the technician for an appointment, but not a peep from him. @ Toni T. Can you initiate the private message? I cannot click onto your profile to send you one.

1/28/18 I'm updating my review with more positive feedback on Sunnova's customer service. I have to say that they are really trying hard to turn the negative feedback around. Last week, after Pete came out and fixed my solar system problem, I got a follow up call from Bianca Contreras, again the rep from the Intervention Solution Team. She wanted to make sure the system was working good, and wanted to find out more about the history of the problem.
After thoroughly explaining the entire story to her, I asked that if I were to receive a bill from Edison the next month, that they pay for it. She actually took it one step further and said that she would have a whole month of my solar bill credited due to all the troubles. She took a step to show what true customer service is, exceeding the customers expectations!
I can say that I am very happy with the results of this whole debacle. Yes, I'm still bummed on how the whole experience went, but Bianca and Pete both are doing their part in this company to try and change the image of Sunnova. Thank you Bianca for going the extra mile!
