The construction process can be intimidating, we at Schenkar Construction Design/Build try to help our clients understand both the process and the direct and indirect costs of why projects cost what they do. We try to help educate our clients as to process and what their expectations should be.

A historic house that has stood at the top of West Seattle for more than 80 years is being moved nearly 20 blocks to a new location this weekend. The old Craftsman home was about to get the wrecking ball to make way for condos, but then a group of people came together to save it.

Schenkar Construction comes highly recommended for seismic retrofitting and house lifting projects. Seismic retrofitting is often required for earthquake insurance. House lifting is an affordable way to increase the size of your home.

Alex and company were great to work with. He provided great bid details and always kept us advised on changes to our project. Our's was a very "technical" project as it involved a 100+ year home which presented many surprises. Alex was prompt about advising us of costs and choices. In the end the results were spectacular and after two years we continue to get compliments from neighbors on the work.

We removed, replaced and expanded front and back concrete porches that had broken and sagged over the years. It meant removal and replacement of old columns while holding up the canopies. It took about 6 months.

Both projects were completed on time, one project actually finished ahead of time. Having design, architecture and engineering under one roof made the coordination of services completely seemless.
