SCK Painting & Drywall

I have been putting off writing this review because I hate giving negative reviws but I hope this helps someone else avoid the crappy work SCK Painting & Drywall does - saving you SO MUCH time and energy and hassle and inability to be comfortable in your home. I am sure some others have had an ok experience but please also consider they give a 3% discount for a positive Yelp review (it is advertised on their website.

Red flag I should have noticed! Dangit.) We had a saga and it took months to resolve (and my house still isn't fixed completely): -Hired to replace drywall in my living room (ceiling and front wall, part of which was around a window) along with painting and texturing. They also removed texturing throughout the main part of my house and were supposed to do a light orange peel texture (because they couldn't do smooth) and paint.

The fact that they couldn't do smooth really should have tipped me off.but there were many things being fixed and they were the only bidder who had a good plan for the ceiling - if only they could have excuted it! -Did the work, which was a somewhat challenging time because I couldn't communicate with the two people doing the work. I think they spoke Korean? and may have been the owner (Grace Kim)'s parents? Grace spoke English and another family member, Wonha did but they were only onsite briefly and periodically.

Like when everything went wrong -The main problem (at first) was multiple joints still showing where the ceiling was replaced. I let Grace know and she agreed it was incorrect and sent the same two people back to fix it. Another couple of days of basically not being able to use my house and it looked better, for sure, but not great. Grace came back to do an inspection and said it looked "beautiful" and that "ceilings are hard, it is not going to get any better than that." She offered me a $300 discount.

I told her I was not going to pay the second half of the amount owed because the job was not done. The joints were still obviously showing. -Other problems included: the drywall on the front wall was not replaced correctly, so there is significant bowing above a window that takes up much of that wall. -The ceiling texture was applied incorrectly so it looks like crap; another contractor said they didn't have enough air when they applied it?

I don't know. Also, in their effort to "hide" the joints that were still obvious, they applied a whole lot more texture so some areas are even uglier with thicker texturing. They didn't cover the walls when they applied the texture so it dripped down onto the walls. -They used some kind of glossy paint so all of this is even more obvious. -They messed up painting in two areas, so there is a wall that needs to be repainted.

After I refused to pay, I had to go through the process of filing a complaint with the Nevada State Contractors Board. They were great but this was annoying, time consuming, and dragged out an already long process of getting my house fixed and livable. Eventually, after an inspection with Grace present (where she suggested ways they could make it better - hmmmm, Grace, why didn't you already try those things?

Like painting with a flat paint), a Notice to Correct was issued and SCK had 30 days to fix all the problems. Because it's so hard to hire contractors these days, I was informed an extension would likely be granted. Because they'd done it incorrectly and already tried to fix it once, so obviously could not do it correctly, I opted for the solution where SCK chooses and pays another contractor to do the work.

I also got 3 estimates from other drywall contractors, each of whom pointed out more problems with SCK's work. (I had also gotten one that I submitted with my complaint to the NSCB). Eventually SCK ended up refunding the first half that I'd already paid them to settle this and be done with it. Although I would have preferred to have this actually done correctly, to the NSCB's approval, I was really, REALLY ready to be done with SCK and this process.

The estimates I have gotten make me think it will take just as much money to fix what they did as it would have for them to just do the job correctly - I am just hoping it's not more. If you read this far, congratulations! Do yourself a big favor and choose someone else to do your painting and drywall! I will say they did a good job removing popcorn texture so maybe you could take a chance with that.

My experience with SCK Painting and their interior work exceeded my expectations on all fronts! Grace was super friendly, easy to work with, and seemed to truly care about the quality of work rendered. I procured four separate bids from painting companies that were all over the place. SCK Painting's bid was mid-range, and fairly priced for the quality of work.

I plan to use Grace and her team for exterior painting work which I'll likely complete within then next few years. I would recommend SCK Painting to anyone interested in exceptional painting services throughout Reno at a competitive price.

SCK has painted my last two houses, and I could not be happier with the job they did. They made it incredibly easy to get a quote prior to the closing of my house by using listing photos and details. The employees are professional, courteous, detail oriented, and trustworthy. I will definitely use SCK Painting and Drywall for my next project and recommend them to anyone in the Reno area.

I've used and recommended SCK to my friends and clients for over 15 years. They are consistently competitively priced and do exceptionally good work. They are efficient, on time, clean up, and always go above and beyond to satisfy. I highly recommend!

I am very uninimpressed with the way in which Grace conducts business. She subcontracts out all of her work to her employees/family members without being able to communicate effectively to the customer. She is cheap; her bid was unbelievably low. Now I know why! She finally admitted to me that she can't promise a great smooth wall result for me. She said on the phone "I could consider something good enough, but that might not be to your standard. I (we) don't actually know how to paint smooth walls." If you want quality and affordable work for the price I highly suggest you look elsewhere.

We needed two Bedrooms Painted and one Bath rather quickly. The job was finished quicker than we ever imagined. One of the bedrooms was painted a very dark grey and required a kilz cover and it came out beautifully. The cost was also very fair. I highly recommend SCK!,

The crew and management of SCK Painting & Drywall are first rate. They've done drywall repairs and exterior painting at my home and the jobs have been performed professionally at a reasonable cost. I would certainly recommend them to anyone needing painting or drywall services.

I'm writing this review on behalf of my boss. He has worked with this company for quite a while. He has two homes which were both painted by SCK a while back and they both look wonderful and show no signs of wear. He also very recently had two fences redone by SCK and they look fantastic! Working with SCK is easy and the company is extremely friendly and helpful in terms of working with the client and providing accommodations. He has never had an issue with the integrity of the employees or the work that they do, and he would recommend SCK to anyone!

SCK painting was recommended to me by a friend whose husband is a detail carpenter. they were very satisfied with their work in their own home so I trusted they'd be good. They were more than good and painted very professionally. We were so pleased with the detail work on our window sills, baseboards and fireplace. Honestly beautiful work and I don't think there are many painters that have this quality of work.

I did see a few places that needed extra touch ups on a wall and they were back the very next morning to make it right (I think they had finished that room towards dusk and couldn't see that it needed a double roll in that space). I would highly recommend SCK to my friends and family!

They did a great job painting the 20 buildings in our HOA community. They bent over backwards to help us resolve a mistake made by our community manager at the time. They were professional and showed a lot of integrity.

Grace and company provide quality work at reasonable prices. She has a great team and she personally gives great attention to detail. Would recommend her team anytime.

SCK Painting is an excellent painting service at a fair price for the quality of work they performed. Their painters are some of the hardest workers I've seen. From power washing my house, to sealing holes and windows, this company is the Best in Reno/Sparks. No Question!

Grace is so very easy to work with. The prices are more than fair for the excellent workmanship and timely manner in which she gets the job done. We have used SCK for the inside and outside of our rental home three different times and every time were exceedingly pleased. We will definitely use them again!

Good experience. Color was clarified (I chose and unusual one); contract was clear (I made mistakes, not the other way around, in doing a color change from original); contractor work was checked, and redone where necessary. I liked working with Grace. She was efficient, straightforward, and communicated clearly in meeting my needs and getting clarification from me regarding my house painting project.

Unethical and dishonest. Takes advantage of people. Would never recommend them to anyone.

We had our new home painted back in 2013 and they did a fabulous job. They even redid an area that I was not satisfied with to ensure I was. This past weekend I called to get the color that we had previously used and the owner went out of her way to look be a use they had revamped the system they were previously using. She ended up getting a hold of the paint company had them fax her the info then screen shot it to me to ensure I had the info I needed. Great work and grand customer service!

This company is exceptional. From the first impression, when someone comes for an estimate, to the last moment when everything is cleaned up. The job is done well and in a timely fashion and they make sure to keep everything shipshape. One small mistake was immediately rectified to my satisfaction. It's rare to find people who are honest and reliable and do an excellent job. I would highly recommend the company for any job of any size

Elmer is So professional he calls and texts so you know when he is coming and also when to expect a bid. No guessing with him! he just started our job and so far is Excellent.

We've used SCK for well over 10 years. The expertise, timeliness and cleanup are awesome! I recommend SCK to all my clients and no one has ever had a bad experience. And their prices are very competitive. Plus, Grace has good suggestions on paint colors and how to emphasize a room or area. You'd do well to call SCK!

SCK Painting just finished painting the entire interior, front exterior and complete fascia of our new home. I could not be more pleased. The cost was very reasonable. The work was done on time by courteous professionals. They came each day ready to work and were very efficient. They spent a lot of time prepping the house, patching and caulking. They didn't blink an eye at drywall damage, large holes, or damaged stucco.

They just took care of it all. The finish work was very meticulous. They left the property clean and tidy. The house is so clean and fresh, it looks like it has never been lived in. My mother was equally impressed with their work and is having them paint her house as well. I highly recommend Grace and her team.

This company ruined my cabinets and flooring. I had to have my home repainted due to their very low quality of work. Pancho and Grace are very combative when low quality work is brought to their attention, customer service is non-existent once they start the job. Do not use this company. We had $6400 in damage done by them. They then sent threatening emails. This house was a flip and we have left the area so I am now posting this so no one else has to go through this.

If I could give 6 stars, I would. I hired them to paint both interior and exterior of my house. These guys deliver great service, and I've been happy with the results. I also love how they prep prior to painting to minimize house cleaning afterward. So far, SCK Painting & Drywall has done three different projects for me, and I would use them again in the future because of their quality work and excellent customer service.

They also made a cutout in a wall and painted our interior wall, which made a huge difference to the look of my home. We've worked with Grace, the rep, who came out for an estimate and came out again after the work to make sure I was happy with their work. I had used other painting companies in the past, but I didn't get the same quality of service as I did with SCK Painting & Drywall. Costwise, SCK Painting & Drywall's service is probably not the cheapest or the most expensive.

The customer service, follow-up, and results will give you a peace of mind knowing your home is in good hands. Go with these guys, and I think you'll be pleased with their service.

Horrible, horrible customer service! Very disappointed in this paint company after spending thousands of dollars. I cannot in good conscience refer to friends, family, or even strangers for that matter.

Grace and her crew did a phenomenal job on our new home. We had them paint the entire interior of our home (3,827 sq ft with 20 ft vaulted ceilings) and the quality is unmatched. We also had them paint the cabinets throughout the home and they turned out better than we could have imagined. Grace was helpful and professional from start to finish, and Alfonzo and his crew were always on task whenever we would stop by randomly to check out the progress.

We weren't sure if we wanted a matte or a semi-gloss finish on the cabinets, so Alfonzo went to the store and bought both kinds and had us come by to see them both so we could make the most informed decision. We also had them patch two holes in the wall, and you would never know the holes had existed. Not only did their work exceed all expectations, but the price for the project was extremely reasonable. We will no doubt use Grace and her crew for any future painting or drywall needs.

Problems that we experienced during the work: * Business owner lost key to our home - did not tell us until we asked for it back one week later - after the fact. * Significant instances where paint had to be scraped from brand new laminate flooring door hardware, kitchen, bathrooms * Tape was left on valances, in yard * Paint was sprayed on motor and paddle of ceiling fans * Some of the shelving in closets was not properly sprayed - barely any paint on them * Paint was sprayed on glass part of front door * The crew was 1.5 hours late to take care of the issues explained above.

We received no call from crew or business owner notifying us of this * Business owner thought she lost check and did not report it until 3 weeks later - through our research we determined it was not lost but rather cashed by business owner It should be noted that the business owner gave us $500.00 discount due to issue captioned above, although we felt it should have been more due to time spent fixing the problems.

The owner also did pay to have locks re-keyed after losing key to our home. The exterior work for the most part was very good. Some trash (painting masks) and masking tape was left behind in the yard and the hose was not put back. The overall quality of the interior paint work was not technical or proficient or done in a professional manner.

I've had these folks paint the interior of a large house over 4k sq ft and the exterior of a smaller 2 story house. Both times they were the low bidder and the work turned out great. There were a couple issues that needed to be remedied, but they fixed them without complaint or delay.

They work hard. They do their best to correct any problems. They're a little disorganized: I had to go buy the workers materials they needed at times. Was not a big problem for me to be available to do that for them because they provided a competitive price. They did not want to do change order work for us, but in the end we decided to finish additional paint work ourselves to avoid the hassle. They do a better job on exterior paint work which requires less detail. Delete review

Cheapest house painting quote which is why I went with them. Overall the house turned out fine but the customer service was lacking. Multiple appointments were canceled without notice. Work site was not cleaned up daily which left paint chips all over the yard after a windy night. One painter, must have been new, painted windows shut and left paint on window panes.

One area needed to be redone a year later which they did do, eventually, but not the other items on the list. I'm tired of calling them back to complete the job well. If you need a cheap job go with SCK, if you need quality go elsewhere.
