We just spent the better part of $40,000 for a complete yard re-do to a low water, low maintenance yard. While the finished product doesn't look bad, there were some things that just stuck with me as a bad way to do business. First, I had a working irrigation system in the yard before they tore out the old one, and when they finished their work, they couldn't get the now-revamped system to work.
They claimed that the existing system had problems, and they charged me several hundred dollars to get my formerly working system working again. Second, several of the plants they planted didn't make it. For the amount I spent with them, there should be no questions asked, and they should just come out and replace them. Instead they came out and blamed lack of water, and told us to increase the water cycle which we did. It's also rained quite a bit, and still the plants are in my yard dead or nearly so. Third, I looked back at their original contract for the job, and it says that the plants were supposed to be 15 gallon, and what I got were very small 1 gallon plants.
Just a guess, but the price difference between a 1 and 15 gallon plan must be considerable, and I paid for the 15's but got the 1's. Just some things to look out for if you decide to use these folks. Manzanita, don't bother looking me up, you won't find me. And I did give you a chance to come out and make things right, and you blew it. I'm having my gardener replace the dead plants.

When our job was finished a year ago, I wrote a good review for Manzanita. The front yard looked great with the lawn gone and was enhanced with new plants and mulch. However, a year later the lawn is coming back up, weeds are prolific and old plants/bushes that should have been completely dug out from the roots are sending out ugly suckers. At initial design meetings, putting down a barrier over the old torn out lawn was never raised or discussed.
When I asked about doing that during installation I was told that 'this is the way we do it.' I thought they knew what they were talking about. Now for us, it's back to pulling up weeds and grass and digging out plant stumps. Not what I expected to be doing.

We had a terrific experience with Manzanita Landscape Construction this past year. From the first consultation with Faith when she came to our house to walk the property and helped us imagine what was possible (her inspiration for a cascading waterfall feature ended up being one of our favorite features!). Next she and the lovely Heather, Landscape Architect, met with us multiple times both onsite and in their offices to draft and refine the final plan.
The design was lovely and while we didn't end up pursuing all of our original ideas, Heather and Faith were incredibly flexible and accommodating in adapting as our plans evolved. Once it came time to start the job, the crew was incredibly efficient and tidy as led by Heather's super competent husband Tim. Almost a year later and the property still looks great, in fact we talking about how to bring them back to look at doing even more (we have about 2 acres) Thank you Faith, Heather and Tim for all of your great work!

Awesome "One Stop Shop" Landscaping - They do it all with great people to work with and an awesome crew! From working with Heather (The Designer) to the crew that arrived everyday until the job was completed, we couldn't have been happier. We had a lot of work done - pavers, concrete walk ways and steps, grading and drainage done, raised garden beds, not to mention lighting and gas BBQ and fire pit. Everything was done to give us the yard (front, side, and large backyard) of our dreams. Thank you Team Manzanita!

When the original contractor for my backyard waterfall refused to repair a constant leak, I turned to Linda at Manzanita Landscape. She came out that day, then sent her foreman out to take a look. They had to deconstruct the waterfall and replace the leaking liner. They rebuilt it so it looks and runs better than ever. The job was professional, clean and didn't take long.

Our backyard project turned out beautiful but there were many bumps along the way. We've now worked out all of the problems and the owners are working hard to communicate with us and make sure we are happy with the result. The final product deserves 5 stars. The company is working to improve communication and customer satisfaction.

Linda is a gifted landscape artist and unparalleled professional. I couldn't be happier with the yard she did for me recently, my only wish is that I had a bigger house so she could do more work for me. She has the ability to understand your personal aesthetic and then translate that into gorgeousness. she really is unbelievably talented. You wont be disappointed.

Not a review of their landscape services, but I called to find out the owners name to possibly do business with them, because an acquaintance gave me a name of a landscaper who had a company, but I didn't have the company name. This one sounded familiar. The person who answered the phone would not give me the owners name. whats the big deal, are you expecting trouble?
She was rude to a potential client and said that I could find the name on the internet if I wanted it. What I can fine on the internet is another Landscape company to do business with.

Last year in March we had this company come out to landscape the front and backyard with 'Durable'/low maintenance. It took them about 3 months to complete it. During which the employees would sit around half the day, either outside or inside their trucks. Though we didn't mind it, once the work was done, it is a little disrespectful to do that while asking for so much money, over $24k.
Now that we've had this work done, we've noticed that the backyard is holding up a bit. A lot of the 'durable' flowers are dead, and the workers pulled them out (this was last year about a month or two after they finished.) And they never got replaced, same with the front yard. The workers who are suppose to come every other week, don't.
They do a 3-4 week thing, yet will still send me a bill after only spending about 20 minutes standing around and possibly using a leaf blower. They do a pretty horrible job each time they come out to maintain it too. I have weeds popping up that they wont spray. I do have a small dog, and they wont pick up the few piles that I accidentally leave behind when I pick up after him. I've seen multiple landscaping companies around my neighborhood that work on others yards that are just BEAUTIFUL. This company. is just a waste of money. Try looking at other places.

I just used this company to repair a broken valve on my irrigation. A worker was supposedly sent out to ascertain what the problem was even though we told her over the phone that a valve was leaking. As it turned out the owners husband/partner showed up, told us that the valves were not up to code and that there would be back flushing from the hoses into the main water supply, he insisted that the only way to repair the problem was to replace all the valves, add to that the $150 fee for an "emergency" visit The total cost was $600 to replace four valves.
Once the job was done, another valve that they had replaced started leaking, the owner of the company accused my husband of causing the problem even though we had been on vacation since the work had been done and no one touched the valves. The worker they sent out to replace it, showed me that the valve had a crack where the seem was which probably had happened during the manufacturing process.
The owners of this company were very unpleasant to deal with, I felt like I had been taken advantage of and that as a customer I was not valued, I would never recommend them nor will I ever use their services again.
