Our founder, Truett Kent Elliott, was born in Menard, Texas and grew up an orphan on the streets of San Angelo. As a teenager, Kent was a member of the Boy Scouts, worked at Fox's Garage and sold newspapers in downtown San Angelo. After high school, he attended San Angelo Junior College and lacked but just one semester from graduating at Texas Tech.

In 1942, Kent married Bettie Dee Harrison and they enjoyed 68 years together. Kent proudly served in the U.S. Army Air Corps for four and a half years as an aerial photographer and was honorably discharged as a Master Sergeant. He worked in sales for Harrison Roofing Company before starting Kent Elliott Roofing Company after a destructive hail storm hit the San Angelo area in 1966.
