Hometec focuses on homeowners and residential design. In designing a home or addition, we provide a number of solutions to the problems and criteria defined by the homeowner. Homeowners find it easier to review and critique several possible solutions rather than create a solution from scratch themselves. Therefore, our job is to show our clients a variety of ways to accomplish what they want to do to their home.

THE RETAINER is the only payment paid in advance - when I am at the property to measure the house or at the signing of the contract. I will provide drawings showing the existing house and property and, during the first meeting at HOMETEC, we will go over a couple of design layouts and City/Country requirements. The homeowner takes these drawings home for further review.
Build It Green
Report
'Green Building' is a whole-systems-approach to building that includes multiple strategies for conserving energy and natural resources, reducing waste and saving money. All cities in the Santa Clara Country have adopted a 'green' ordinance and use Build It Green's GreenPoint Rated Checklist as the standard measure for adherence to it.

Rick and Holly were fantastic to work with. And very patient, as we really did not know what we wanted to design when we started. We tore down our 900 sf bungalow and now have a contemporary 2200 sf home that has everything we wanted inside. Rick was happy to play around with different ideas and let us "live in them" with 3d software for a while. He made sure we met all city codes and worked with an engineer when changes came up on the job, ie a beam in the kitchen.

Disregard the 1-star review below, doesn't look to be founded on the actual work of Rick and Holly. They designed our 4,600 SF house which was a full tear-down and helped us navigate the entire design and build process. Absolutely detail oriented and familiar with the city codes to make for a seamless permitting process. Definitely recommend.

Though they may work closely and well with people you also know and work for, they will not acknowledge your role if they have never spoken to you directly. Unaware of all the things you have done to help out in the past for both parties, this architectural firm will make you feel unimportant despite your credentials. I only say this here because numerous attempts to form a positive and professional relationship has not been achieved.
