We use authentic materials such as wools sourced from Iran, Turkey, Nepal, and Afghanistan combined with traditional methods to repair your rugs & carpets how they should be repaired by hand.
We consider our best rug repairs to be ones you can't tell we've done repairs that are seamless with a textile's original intent. Repairs that maintain the value, integrity, and esthetics of your hand woven rugs.
Services
All oriental carpet cleaning is performed by us in our SE Portland workshop and is done by hand. Rugs are thoroughly washed, not shampoo or surface cleaning. The owners of Renaissance have over thirty years of experience cleaning oriental carpets. 
Our rug repair and restoration process are collaborative; we provide knowledgeable and experienced opinions on age, value, and repair possibilities. 
Vacuuming your area rugs is essential; it helps to remove soils that can build soils that work their way into the foundation. These embedded soils accelerate wear and deterioration so vacuuming helps extend the life of your fine oriental rugs. That said, vacuums can damage area rugs too. For example, the rotating beater bar on an upright vacuum can suck the fringe ends of a carpet and rip them off. Care should be taken when vacuuming rugs to minimize the risk of damage to your rugs.

I have been holding their business card in my wallet for years. Now that I'm moving I thought this would be a perfect time to get my rugs cleaned. They did a great job. My experience, here in Portland, is getting a quick response from a business and they were very responsive. They picked my rugs up, and dropped them off for $40. What a great deal, I don't own a car so Uber would have been more. Great Service! Thank you.

I brought an large ~12'x14' rug in to be cleaned. I had no idea about the real condition of the rug, but I did know it was old and not in the best shape. Unfortunately the rug tore while being cleaned. Renaissance informed me of the problem and expertly repaired it to the point that I can't even tell where the damage was. It looks the best it ever has. I will definitely use them again.

Dye leaked from a pet mishap. Did not think it was cleanable because of the maroon bleed into beige. Got the rug back yesterday, I am amazed at the fantastic job. We just had 2 Gabbeh rugs cleaned and repaired by Reanissance Rug Cleaning. One of the rugs was over 15 years old and had never been cleaned before. Both rugs came back looking like new. In fact, they looked so good that we sent 2 more rugs to be cleaned. The service in the office and in the field was very helpful, friendly and professional.

We have been so pleased with all the services from Renaissance Rug Cleaning. We live in Washougal, WA and have some oriental rugs of a large size that are too difficult for us to move, transport and reset after cleaning. Renaissance is willing for a very nominal fee to delivery the rug after cleaning and place in the room where it has come. We also have used them to repair two rugs that belonged to my grandmother so much be over a hundred years old.
They did on both of these rugs a beautiful job: one needed work on binding and the other needed some thin, weak areas rewoven. You will not be disappointed with their work or service ---- very pleasant family people with which to deal.

We have used Rnaissance many times had have always been very happy with their work. Not only have we had carpets cleaned but also repaired and appraised. I especially appreciate their knowledge of oriental carpets. I recently had antique carpets appraised that were purchase many years ago in Iran for my brother's estate. Their knowledge is amazing.

The real deal. rug nerds who love to help people keep their rugs looking clean and cared for. I've had three flat weave hard-working rugs cleaned and repaired here. Also replaced the non-skid pads. The cost is reasonable, service is excellent and informed, and my rugs look new again- ready for another year or two of hard use.

My rugs (and sweaters) were eaten today months-even those stored in cedar closets and chests. I was fortunate to learn about Renaissance Rug Cleaning. I took my treasured hand tied tribal rugs to them, and not only received great cleanings, but an education about month habits and how to try to avoid future damage to rugs and sweaters. The knowledgeable and friendly staff provide excellent service. I highly recommended this company.

Randy and staff have been cleaning our rugs for 20 plus years and have always done a fabulous job. Repaired a large handwoven Persian rug with some moth damage beautifully. Also have been able to mend rugs that a puppy has chewed. Very knowledgeable staff and very service oriented. They are a pleasure to interact with.

Fantastic! Renaissance did a super job on 5 of my rugs - persian, afghani and turkish. Their work is meticulous and very reasonably priced (especially compared to several of the other rug cleaners/repairers in town.) They gave me a little tour of their facilities, which was fascinating, and which clearly showed the individual attention they give to each rug. Plus, their turnaround time is great. If I could give them ten stars I would!

They provide good, solid service and work; are generous with information and suggestions not only about cleaning and maintenance but about the specific rugs themselves; and are never pushy. I have had several semi-antique handmade rugs cleaned here, and the rugs come back in great condition, showing their true colors again. I've also had a couple repaired, and the repair work is a great match to the original rug. The people are very knowledgeable, and take great care and pride in their work.

Our Persian rug had not been cleaned in quite a few years. Renaissance picked it up, combed it, combed it and combed it, washed it and let it dry and washed it AGAIN. When it was returned to us it was bright, soft and beautiful--and they charged less than the original estimate because it was a little smaller than I had told them! Fabulous job!

Renaissance is the premier rug washing and restoration company in the NW. They are the only company I would recommend for hand washing & rug repair in Portland Oregon. Renaissance has saved my rugs from, wine spills, pet pee, coffee stains, a green smoothie, and a piece of chocolate cake that fell off the table. Without Renaissance, my rugs would be stained and forlorn.
They even repaired the side of a rug that my dog chewed on and now I can't even tell where the tear occurred. It was a rug miracle! The owner Randy has a deep knowledge of carpets and is able to give honest verbal and written appraisals for insurance and replacement. Portland is lucky to have such a reliable resource for area rugs and carpets.

These guys are really terrific. They're actually a find. Been using them for years on our nice hand knotted and machine knotted rugs. Renaissance is knowledgeable, conscientious, and best of all provide a great service of professional hand cleaned rugs. Their goal is an actual cleaned rug! They'll run it again if it's not completely clean. They deep clean.
