We just built a new home with Grand Endeavor Homes and could not be happier with our new home. Our construction manager Phil and the entire Grand Endeavor team were a pleasure to work with. Building a home during a pandemic comes with it's own unique set of challenges, but Phil was always on top of getting things resolved as quickly as possible. My wife and I had our own lot when we met with Grand Endeavor and met with Jim, GE’s build on your lot specialist at the end of 2016. We'd spoken to several builders in the area but weren't completely happy with the communication at that point. We had also just been made aware, at the time, that Jimmy Jacobs had started this company. Jimmy built my parents' house 10 years ago and had done a great job so we felt very comfortable knowing that he was the founder of this company.
To be clear, we were not easy clients. I build homes in Colorado and a little in Texas albeit a different type of product, and had pretty high expectations. Justin Jacobs, Jimmy’s son, was always there to price out change orders and did so in a way that was fair to us and GE. Tom Tucker, their VP of Construction, was/is extremely knowledgable and was always checking in to make sure things were “right”.
Our project manager, Cal Benaglio, was absolutely amazing and did a remarkable job of scheduling, timeline, setting expectations, etc… Jimmy took the time to meet with me for lunch as well. These guys became more like friends throughout the process.
Unfortunately, during any build, it’s rare to not have “issues” come up before, during, and after construction.
We had unforeseen issues come up, some bigger than others. While these are expected, I was very impressed with the way in which the team at Grand Endeavor helped us get through them. There was transparency, no one pointed fingers, they just got it done. Justin and Jimmy both say things like, “We’re on your side” and “Make it right”. I can tell you first-hand…they did.
It was always a team effort and we never felt like it was “US VS THEM”. I’ll also point out that we built a home that was definitely outside of what is typically built in Georgetown/Liberty Hill. They did a great job of doing something outside of their typical product. If I could go back and start over, I’d still use them to build our home.
Another thing to consider with GE. Given their size, they’re able to go from start to finish very quickly, and draw less frequently…all of which saves a lot of money in interest. To anyone looking to build with GE…or any builder for that matter… Know that problems always come up during construction. Make sure you’re working with a builder that wants to work WITH you to get them solved. There’s a good reason Jimmy Jacobs’ name is known around the hill country, and why he’s been able to take a name no one knew just a few years ago to the top homebuilder in central TX…and we got to experience that first-hand. We have had such a positive experience with Grand Endeavor. We love our home! We bought a completed house, so although we weren’t able to pick out all the details, they worked with us to make sure we were able to put some of our personal touches into our home. Like every new home there have been some minor items that require attention, but all we have to do is communicate and they resolve things quickly and efficiently. Highly recommend!
