Blinds By Design

We needed to replace and upgrade some blinds in our Victorian styled home. Our plan was to try a company out in one room, our theater room. After visiting with several companies we hired a Hunter Douglas reseller for some "fancy" blackout blinds. Big mistake. The experience was horrible. Abysmal communication, poorly communicated lead time, measuring errors (resulting in a re-order), wildly expensive, and they were just plain arrogant.

They even criticized some of our historical interior design decisions. When it came time to move on to another room (our master bedroom), we started our search again. After heavy research, we found Blinds by Design. Blinds by Design did an AMAZING job. They met with us several times. Measured and then re-measured. Provided guidance, examples and even did custom trimming around our wainscoting for the plantation shutters to fit.

They took our calls and promptly returned messages (email, voicemail and text). They were friendly, honest and very knowledgeable. They made sound recommendations that were not based on how much they would make. And they didn't rush the install. It was as if they were installing in their own home. We couldn't be happier with our experience and the quality of the products they installed.

We called this phase one, as we have many more areas we plan to add plantation shutters. Looking forward to phase two. Hire them for your next job. You won't be disappointed.

We purchased a number of different type of blinds for our windows in 2012 for our new house. Doug and Maria were so helpful in suggestions that were pertinent to window view, i.e. to sit and look out/sun protection/privacy etc. for window treatments for each window. They were very professional in the installing. Just recently (2021 - 9 years later later) our remote controller for our roll up blinds quit working.

They graciously came by and replaced the controller, which took extra work with the older model motor in the shade. We highly recommend Blinds By Design for personal service with Doug and Maria.

After shopping around quite a bit, we found that their product and service is far superior than their competitors. An honest company who will always have your best Interest! I Decided to get plantation shutters for my home and of course the places I’ve researched were booked out and the earliest they could have my shutters was 6-9 weeks five or take then they had to schedule installation. On top of that, the price I was quoted were!
Luckily my realtor @LaurieVarner referred me to Douglas and his wife who works directly with a manufacturer here in Florida and they could have everything ready in 4 weeks. Also, the price quoted was unbelievable! The installation took about 2 hours. Gosh! The difference it makes in your home when you have plantation shutters! So worth it!!

What a great experience working with this company. Doug and Maria were very friendly and super knowledgable about the product. I have an old house and wasn't sure how plantation shutters were going to look on the outside of the window frame, but they look marvelous. More than marvelous, I just love them. They brighten up every room I had them installed in. I can't stop looking at them.

The Orlando Cat Café reached out to Blinds by Design when we were in search of a company to install shades for our front windows. With 15-20 cats in our room, we needed shades that would be “kitty-friendly,” keep heat out of our room, be visually appealing, and of course, affordable.
