My air conditioner quit working and because Rod Johnsons name was on the unit I called for a technician. They sent one out and he was very, he said it was simple. He went out to his truck and dug through a carboard box and came up with " don't remember what he called it" and installed it. The compressor tried to start but wouldn't. He checked wiring and determined it was the compressor.
He mentioned $800.00 but said the office would call me with an estimate. The office called and said they were sending someone else out. He came and when he got out of his truck he said he had found me a new furnace in Nevada. I told him it was the A/C not the furnace. He walked back and looked at the unit and started telling everything that needed to be done it could be $8,000.00.
I told him I wanted to get another estimate. He lost his cool and told me to never call his company again. I told him I had heard his company was dishonest and he stood in my drive and told me "F.you old man" I hate to be called old man even though I just turned 89 yesterday. I may be old but I'm no fool, at least not fool enough to call Rod Johnson.

This was my first time using Rod Johnson's Air And I am so impressed with their service! My AC Had stopped cooling. I called and they were able to Come Out next day. For that I am so grateful because It was reaching 90 degrees here in 209! My house was so hot! A technician named Joel showed up and he was Very nice and professional. He found the issue within minutes of being at my house!
It was such a simple issue and I am so thankful for his sharpness! Best of all they're service call fee is below $50 which is way less then other competitors out there! I definitely recommend this company and I will surely be using them again!

Today was the first time using Rod Johnson AC and I am so impressed! First, it was easy to book an appointment. Shirley was really friendly and listened to what I needed. The appointment was the next day.today and I met the expert technician, Jeff! Jeff is a cool guy! He was very patient and understanding as I shared what my clients' concerns were.
After our discussion, Jeff went right to work and completed the inspection on not only the a/c unit, but also the heater. As Jeff shared his finds, I stopped him so I could record him because I wanted my client to hear it directly. Excellent service. Very prompt, communicate with you step by step and not leave you for days wondering what's going on. Took only 1 week from the day I called that my unit was installed. They take care of filing the necessary paperwork with the county, your united is inspected for proper installation. Really appreciate the service.

I would not recommend this company. Employees do not have the experience to resolve issues. One has to wait for service when an appointment is placed. Not at all timely as well as have various employees to perform returns on the same problem. Seems like the company wants to continuously bill the customer.

I have nothing but Good to say about Rod Johnson and his employees. Jose is always cooperative and fast in responding. Dave is very knowledgeable and I really enjoy his presence when he's working. I've had to replace a large a/c unit in summer and, done well and fast. I will be getting a quote for a new water heater for my other home. I'm on their small monthly fee for routine maintaince on both homes. Forgive me for not mentioning the other worker. I'm forgetful. I'm very happy with this company

Although we don't live in Stockton, we used Rod and his company to put in new AC units on a rental duplex. They were totally reliable and responsive with their communications. They completed the job a few months ago. As the rainy season approached our roofing company was not yet available to put on a new roof. We are so appreciative that the people at Rod Johnson were able to go check the roof for leaks and waived the charge.

I have to rewrite this review due to a discovery. I thought I got good service but I actually discovered something while I was in the attic checking on my HVAC. My duct was ripped off or taken off. Whatever the case be the guys who installed my furnace must've taken it off and didn't put it back. They didn't tell me that it came off and left it open so I been running my HVAC with ducts loose. They even left their tools next to the duct.

WARNING! Don't be fooled by their fake positive reviews here on google. Read the REAL reviews on Yelp first. (The ones here are 90% fake! These guys are unethical and will rip you off and waste your time. Honestly. what A/C company has this many good reviews? None! Because these are FAKE! ) Here is my review: 8-16-21 - My elderly (74 years old) mothers A/C stopped working on 8-15 in the mid afternoon.
I called to make a same day appointment but the couldn't help us so we setup an appointment for the next day that was going to be 101 degrees outside. The appointment was for 1:30pm. My mom called me at 2:45 and said the house was getting really hot and she was feeling light headed. She wanted to know if they were on their way so I called immediately and the said they would be there within the hour. LIE!
They never showed up, and never called. I made it very clear that this was an emergency situation. A technician finally called me to say he was at the house at 6:30 pm. Really?! 6:30? That's 5 hours after the scheduled appointment. So they expected my 74 year old mom to wait around inside a house when it was 101 outside? They didn't call or even give us a status. Stay clear from this company, they are not reliable and clearly don't care about new customers or elderly peoples safety. Sad!

**Update** Four years later I got a call last week about how they are "reaching out to customers." and I had to explain to them that I am not a customer, I am just a person they treated unprofessionally. Not sure why they're bothering me this much later. Their staff already ensured that I won't ever use them again. We're done. While the technician is great, I can no longer deal with the unprofessional behavior by the office staff.
I booked an appointment. Waited 2 weeks and got a same-day call cancelling and rescheduling a week out. Then got a call from Giselle today (day of new appointment) who informed me that the girl who scheduled my appointment window no longer worked there and that she was fired for booking appointment windows that are "only" two hours and that they wouldn't be honoring my appointment window.
She was rude, snarky and when I insisted that they really needed to honor their commitments she tried to guilt trip me about wanting to be served when other people "have appointments and no cooling." *I* had an appointment (two in fact) and no cooling! Spoke to Stevie who assured me the appointment would be honored. 11 rolls around and there's no sign of the technician.

Wow, these guys live up to their bad reviews. Recommending expensive repairs is just a start. Their customer service is really mediocre. The office girls do not listen well, it's very frustrating. My rental needed some work, they quoted a $260 part but recommend a new $6800 unit. My landlord went for the unit, and what an inconvenience. The workers installed my unit wrong the first time and my electric bill was through the roof for a month.
I work a lot and had to deal with them for more than I wanted. Then they put the wrong size filter in the ceiling. Now they call every six months and I have to deal with their rude staff. They don't ask what day is best for me, and even if I try to schedule something two weeks away they find that difficult. You will be stuck with them if you go my landlords route.

Knowledgeable, courteous, and friendly, Rod Johnson was on time and got the job done. We thought we had problems with our vent filter not having a place to latch on to and was causing dust throughout the house but our service man Anthony just looked at the unit itself and found that our filter was elsewhere and definitely needed a change. The rest seemed like clockwork, Anthony cleaned the ducts, swept the debris, and left the house better than when he came in. Thanks again!

My technician was Erick and he was early to the appointment time which I appreciate very much and he was very friendly and professional. He provided excellent service and walked me through the entire process and made me feel very comfortable with the work being preformed. I had a coil replacement and need Freon recharge cause my AC wasn't getting cold. Murphy and bone breaking Billy came to save the day. Murphy was the main installer. He took the time to explain my options without trying to up-charge like most companies would. He even did minor things for me and was very detailed in explaining to me what my issues were. Billy was assisting him in doing the job but was also very nice and courteous.
The job turned out looking very clean and very meticulously installed. Would highly recommend Murphy and Billy and will be using they're services in the future. Thank you for the great job! Now I can enjoy the summer.

Once again Rod Johnson has missed an appointment, usually it's for their semi-annual inspection that I paid for in advance this time it was for a quote to replace whole system, very disappointed I usually like to support local businesses but not even a call they can check their records on year they missed both semi annual appointments what a joke

Between the lack of communication between the technicians and the office staff and the technicians blatant disregard for customer service, (he acted as if my issue was a thorn in his side and repeatedly let me know how many other calls he had to get to that day), let's just say I will never reach out to these people again.

I am a long time customer of his annual heating and air conditioning services. We noticed soot in every room on the ceilings and walls and got a estimate. They came out and serviced our 31 Vents. They cleaned the vents, grates and vacuumed the areas they worked. They were polite, efficient, organized and professional. In my estimation, Joseph Morataya and Anthony Barrera did an excellent job and great Ambassadors for Rod Johnson Air. Well Done

Honestly this company is terrible staff is rude, clearly nobody can't do their job correctly for me to be calling back every damn week, all that money wasted if you cannot do your job right and insist on taking your own actions and blaming a client when clients clearly don't have nothing to do with what y'all do for the unit we don't touch anything or fix anything YOU GUYS DO!
But still gossip and blame the CLIENTS! One time the thermostat popped and broke and had to get replaced and it did but then another problem occurred and THEN THE AC NEVER WANTED TO TURN OFF! It's like y'all do this on purpose. WORST EVER AC COMPANY EVER! I do not suggest it here to ANYONE!

My grandmother's air conditioning system was not working and it got to be 92 in the house, I called this company and they had somebody out by the next afternoon. Jose was my technician and was on time, courteous and went above and beyond my customer service expectations! Jose explained everything to me and was efficient in all of his work and was able to have it up and running quickly and at a extremely great price. After finishing the service he explained what he found and made recommendations for future care to keep my unit working at its best. I called several weeks ago to make an appointment for the beginning of the season, just cleaning and maintenance in preparation for the hot weather. I was put on hold immediately and then waited over 5 minutes to speak with someone. When scheduling the appointment, it was like the girl in the office was distracted and not paying attention, as I had to repeat myself multiple times.
Then when she repeated the appointment date and time back a few minutes later, she repeated the day I specifically said that we could NOT have them come. Then we finally confirmed the correct date. Appointment day comes.and goes. No phone call saying they couldn't make it, no follow up whatsoever. Very disappointed, but I guess I should have just come to Yelp and read the reviews to begin with. Would have saved me a rude, distracted phone call, and an afternoon waiting for nothing.

I am beyond disappointed and confused at the low quality work that Rod Johnson has given us. My fiance and I went with RJ for a cut in install after getting a few quotes from other companies, Tony gave us the best price and we committed. EVERY SINGLE ROOM is a disaster. Every cut is a poor quality - major damage to the ceilings, and the louvers are sloppily placed, not covering any of it, not flush to wall, tape exposed. (See photos) I feel like the whole thing is a huge joke.
My fiance could have done the job better in his own. One of the techs in my home had a TERRIBLE attitude and work ethic and complained constantly, every day. The workers utilized MY vaccuum, broom, dustpan, and ladder to get the job done. (and I still had to clean up after). Needless to say. We absolutely regret our decision going with Rod Johnson- they may give you a cheaper bid but YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR.

The ordeal with this place has lasted a week. and my heater still isnt fixed. First of all, let me say we RENT. My property manager asked RJ to arrange an appt with us. I waited 4 hours for that and got no call. So, I took it upon myself to call and make the appointment. Giselle got a tech to my house two days before Thanksgiving. The tech replaced the pressure switch and the heater worked. BUT he charged my roommate $68 for a service call WHEN WE RENT.
Then said we needed to pay him an additional $150 for the new part. The roommate paid him, forgetting that it was the property managements obilgation, not ours. I called Giselle and explained what had happened. The tech returned, installed the part and refunded our money. Ok, we are happy. then. My roommate turned off the heater to leave the house.
When we returned an hour later, the heater wouldn't turn on anymore. We called that night and I spoke to Giselle (who was clearly irritated that I kept calling) who told me she'd have someone out the next day (The day before Thanksgiving, which was fine with us because we were hosting TDay so we needed some heat for the family) Wednesday came and went with no tech arriving.
We moved Thanksgiving to my brother's house and went about our holiday. Friday comes and I call. They send a new tech out who tinkers for a bit and tells us that the Universal Pressure Switch the original tech put in was not for our heater and he needed to order one from the manufacturer, BUT due to the holiday weekend, we'd have to wait till Monday. So. a 4 day weekend. in November. with no heat. Ok. thanks dude, but we understood.
He then told us he'd be back personally between 5-6pm on Monday. It is Tuesday. I called last night to explain that once again no one had shown up and that the lack of service was starting to feel personal. Stephanie on the phone was extremely accomodating. and I was glad I got her and not Giselle. The tech from Friday would call soon and make arrangements. Again, opting for patience, we waited.
No call. It was then almost 9pm and we had put now 3 days of our own lives on hold to accommodate a heater repair that a week later still hasn't been repaired. I called to say we were going to bed, and the next day we are available is tomorrow night. Stephanie got our appointment arranged and apologized. I have no idea why any property managment would actually CHOOSE this company to do business with.

David Jr. the tech was extremely courteous during preventative maint. check up. Very efficient and professional. 4 stars as he did not bring a filter so I had to use one of my own. The service people always forget to bring a ladder and step stool. (Our A/C unit is on our roof.) The trucks have a rack on top so they have the ability to bring one to the job site.
This company has serviced A/C for several years so right now they should have a note in their files to bring the proper equipment. Overall very satisfied with Rod Johnson Company.

The Technician, Mike, and Rod Johnson Air Conditioning have exceeded my expectations! They came out to my house. on Father's Day (not to mention it is 100 plus Degrees outside!) My AC was not working and I was afraid of being told that I needed a new unit. Mike found the problem was a minor fix and the charge was minimal. He checked my AC system and found everything to be working properly. Mike had told me the part is one that I could replace myself for less money, or he could do the work.
When a business give you the options, my conclusion was that this company is very honest. I chose to have Mike make the repairs since he had the part and would not take too long to replace. When a business give you the options, my conclusion was that this company is very honest. I chose to have Mike make the repairs since he had the part and would not take too long to replace. Customer service is deplorable. Had a dual unit installed last year to the tune of almost $8000 and the installers told me there was duct work that needed to be completed, which to date has bever been done. Couple young kids came out last year and asked my tenant why they were there cuz they didnt know. Now I am being told some state of calif. testing needs to be done and the tester has been trying to call me and that never happened.
Now I have Rod Johnson himself telling me he doesn't know what is workers were smoking that day. REALLY ROD JOHNSON? You dont know what YOUR WORKERS WERE SMOKING? I regret ever dealing with this company. They installed a unit in my mother in laws home and had to be called many times to have the work completed. Sorry Rod Johnson, quit sending cactus plants as a thank you and do what you are being paid to do.
