Affordable Custom Decks

Steve and John have a great team and an excellent product. Steve took our idea and had a top notch sketch to scale on his first visit! We had a few other vendors show up and did not take our request seriously. There is a 6-8 month wait period for the job, however it was totally worth it. As soon as it was our turn, they were dedicated to our project.

We had the same team here everyday at the same time. They asked us small questions here and there to make sure WE would be happy. This may have caused some extra work, but they were happy to make it work. Communication with Steve from start to finish was easy and he was always on time.

This was a fantastic job! Communication about what was going to happen and when was great. Kevin, our installer/builder was on top of all our concerns, we have.2 large dogs and he made sure that every night when he left, we had access to the back yard, and then told us what the plan was for the next day. Job site was cleaned every night! Highly recommended!

April 2021, I contracted with a local "Class A" contractor to build a composite deck for a hot tub and patio set etc. in my back yard. They put in 18 concrete footers and a huge concrete slab and stopped doing any work on 5/11/2021. Basically he took my money and left with me no deck and a BIG mess. I contacted Steve at Affordable Custom Decks who was very sympathetic to my misfortune and designed a beautiful deck.

The carpenter, Charles Johnston showed up every day despite there being some inclement and cold days and took such great care and expertise in building my deck. Charles craftsmanship and attention to every detail is unreal. You can tell by the quality work that he takes great pride in his craft and in building you a beautiful and unique home feature.

I am truly grateful for Steve and Charles and am glad to write a review to share with anyone as I HIGHLY recommend Affordable Custom Decks and Charles Johnston. I will post a few pics soon. I want to finish the landscaping around the deck first.

We are very happy with our new deck. We went from a wood deck to Azek. We had it re-surfaced rather than fully rebuilt. Charles was our carpenter. He worked extremely hard EVERY day! He was very thorough. He cleaned up every day before he went home, which we loved. He was friendly and easy to work with. He accommodated us and our dogs so we could still use the yard for the dogs.

The deck is beautiful. Charles even made a small repair to our gate on his own. That is going the extra mile! Steve was also nice to work with. He was our POC. He and Charles made it their goal to make us happy and satisfied customers. I (Stephanie) am very picky and meticulous. They both were very patient with me. We would recommend AC Decks. Thanks guys! Affordable Custom Decks is exactly what their name is. We customized our deck to fit our budget. Charles is a master carpenter with incredible attention to detail. Our dog and Charles became fast friends. I highly recommend this company.

Affordable Custom Decks did an excellent job of building our new deck. We had an old wooden deck torn out and a new Trex Transcend composite deck constructed. Charles, our deck builder, is an absolute craftsman. He was meticulous in the design and construction of our new deck. His work ethic showed an attention to detail that is rare these days, and it shows in the nice aesthetic features and in the overall quality of the deck. We have received so many compliments on our new deck from our neighbors. Everyone that has seen it has commented on the quality workmanship! We highly recommend AC Decks.

We signed a contract with Affordable Custom Decks in April. At that time, they were booked through to September/October, but having seen their work at a neighbor's home we thought they would be worth the wait. And they were definitely worth waiting for. Work began in October and was finished in about 10 working days. We were so fortunate to have Kevin on the job! He is absolutely the hardest working man, and very efficient. He did a beautiful job on our deck and pergola. I cannot recommend this business more highly.

We contracted AC Decks to completely replace our existing deck which was deteriorating and in rough shape. The scope of work included removal of the old deck and building the new one from the ground up, including new concrete footers. We opted to use Azek materials. The color of the decking is Weathered Teak with black Premier Rail. While there was a long wait before AC Decks would be able to start the work (approx. 4-5 months), it is very clear why that was.

They are true professionals in every aspect and therefore, the wait was well worth it. There were points throughout the project where custom elements needed to be fabricated in order to make things work and flow well. The creativity and skill of Kevin, the crew leader for my project, was very impressive. I'm very happy with how the project turned out and would strongly recommend AC Decks. Steve was great to work with and was responsive at every point in the process. I trust that they will stand behind their work.

I cannot say enough about John and Steve at Affordable Custom Decks! They are extremely professional, as well as very knowledgeable about decking and railing (and code requirements). We did a lot of previous research regarding the different types of decking materials, and what would be good for our lifestyle and family - everyone at ACD was so helpful in helping us make a decision.
