Lightning Restoration Absolutely Deserves Its Name! I have nothing but praise and appreciation for the timely, thorough remediation work carried out recently by Lightning Restoration at my Longboat Key townhouse. On May 24th, while we were out of town, a water leak was discovered: A maintenance employee found water seeping out the garage door into the community parking lot.

It turned out that a leak under the kitchen sink that a plumbing company a few days earlier had failed to diagnose had escalated, and water was leaking from the kitchen, on the main floor, into the garage on the lower level. Especially because I was not in town, I felt at a loss as to how to proceed, and I called my insurance agent seeking advice.

He advised me to immediately get a water damage restoration company sent to the unit because temperatures were high and mold could set in quickly. Fortunately, in response to my request for a recommendation, he gave me the name of Lightning Restoration, which I learned is a small water restoration company, not one of the super-big ones. Based on what my agent had said, I was anxious to get the water-removal process at my home begun as soon as possible, and I was so gratified that within an hour of my calling Lightning, its employees were on the scene.

For the next several days, they ran drying equipment, removed wet insulation and drywall, and monitored moisture content in the floor and walls every 24 hours. They took photographs every day, which they relayed to me by email. And I was in near-daily contact by phone with the project manager, John Rutherford, and the company's owner, Luis Mahiquez.

I cannot say enough about how the thoroughness and attention to detail of Lightning allayed my concerns. I truly felt that the company and its employees had my best interests at heart. And the company went above and beyond just removing the water damage: As time went on, it became apparent that the main kitchen cabinet had been thoroughly compromised. Mr. Mahiquez personally went over to the site to check out the condition of the cabinet and finally concluded that the risk of mold in the cabinet walls was such that the insides needed to be removed.

He recommended that I hire a carpenter to remove the insides and to try to rebuild the cabinet, but as I did not have immediate access to a carpenter, he agreed to ask his employees to remove the insides themselves. I was so appreciative that they were able to do this, as it allowed me to buy time to try to find a carpenter for the actual rebuilding and not have to worry about mold developing.

And then, lo and behold, he was able to refer me to an experienced carpenter, with whom I have now spoken and who is going to be addressing the problem. One last thing: Despite the fact that it took over a week for my place to be totally dehumidified and restored to normalcy, the costs of all this work were extremely reasonable. If I were going to make one suggestion to Lightning, it would be to change its name to "Peace of Mind Restoration." I'm just joking, of course, but the company truly restored my peace of mind.

We used Lightning Restoration to clear the mold in one of our rental units. They were able to get in there right away and start on the work. They were transparent the whole time and made sure to keep us updated with pictures and emails. Luis was very thorough to explain everything to us and worked with us to make sure everything got done correctly and he also was very knowledgeable about how to deal with the insurance claim. Let me just start by saying that I called after hours and I was connected with the happiest, kindest, and most genuinely considerate and thorough woman, Shelby. She asked all my questions to the best of her ability, and then even tried to transfer me to the technician That is working where I live, he Was unavailable at that time instead of getting disconnected when the technician didn't answer, I was immediately connected back to Shelby, who was just as happy as when she first answered the call!

She then told me that the message was being given directly to the technician. In less than 30 mins after my initial call, my technician John called me and answered every question I had, even ones that came to mind at the last second. Thank you lightning restoration for being kind and compassionate and timely!

I usually don't take the time to send a review, but in this case, it was a must. After experiencing water damage from a roof leak, we had a mold issue. Dealing with such professional, capable people such as Luis and John, the project manager, it made this process of remediation so much easier. My phone calls or messages were always returned immediately, my questions were answered and I was always treated with RESPECT and IN A COURTEOUS manner.

Not only were they great, but it was obvious that the workers that were in my home had been well trained. I truly wish that some of the other contractors that I have worked with in the past could take a lesson or two on dealing with their customers who trusted them to do a good job and didn't deliver. So grateful that I used their company.

This is the second time we have used Lightning Restoration. Just recently it involved a much bigger commercial project that extended over a much longer period of time. The workmanship and attention to detail exceeded our expectations as they fully remediated the mold within the building. Additionally, the owner, Luis not only has years of experience but also is well connected within the construction and legal network of the industry.
