If you want a wood floor refinished, Woody's will do a quality job. Our floor was 32 years old and the finish had turned yellowish orange. It was ugly with lots of knots. Woody's was great to help us choose the right stain. They gave us plenty of time. They sanded and stained samples so we could choose. We chose the color Bark. We love the floor. They are artists and artisans because they skillfully made an old ugly floor look beautiful. They are talented and great to work with. Highly recommend. The owner is knowledgeable and willingly answers any questions and helps with information.

On two occasions I have had the good fortune of bringing in expert craftsmen from Woody's Hardwood Flooring for installing and finishing oak floors. All the men were experts and conducted their work professionally and efficiently with great skill and were completely courteous, polite, and respectful. The end product is such a treasure to my family and an added value to our home.
We could not have wanted anything of a higher quality and done with absolute precision thanks to Mario, Andrew, Christian and Bryce. We are very grateful for your hard work and your attention to detail. Thank you Team Woody's.

We called and asked about getting our floors cleaned or if we could get more information on what we can do to help protect them. Someone came out and all he wanted to do was sell us on refinishing. We knew that was going to be expensive, but still asked for a quote. He also quoted us on doing some transition pieces to cover where the wood meets our new tile.
We responded to the quote saying we couldn't do the refinishing right now, but we would still like them to come do the transition pieces. His response was it wasn't worth his time. They require a $1,200 minimum to come out. Knowing that upfront would be really helpful. If you don't plan to spend that much then don't bother getting a quote.

What a great experience, what an incredible outcome. Our floors look better today than the day they were originally put in 18 years ago. It's difficult to express the pleasure we have with our newly renovated/installed floors by Woody's. We have ~850 Sq Ft of Brazilian Cherry Wood flooring, which after 18 years was certainly worn and tired. We additionally wanted to add ~200 sq ft of additional flooring, woven into the existing floor, to run down our hallway.
Another MAJOR desire for us, to try and tone down the red color in the floors. After lots of research, the only way we could find to minimize the red was to either bleach the wood, which sounds like no fun, or go darker with the stain. Going darker wasn't our first choice, but ultimately decided to go that direction. We choose "Antique Brown" stain after being presented with 6 different stain choices and two different sheen options.
The Antique Brown was great for us, it wasn't too dark, a nice warm brown that still, in changing lighting throughout the day, very subtlety shows then conceals the red. We also decided to go with a matte finish over the satin. Our previous flooring was high gloss and it showed EVERY SINGLE MARK, especially in our well lit living/dinning/kitchen. the Matte is the extreme opposite, but it made the floors look more natural and will hopefully help conceal the wear into the future.
As for Woodys. The pandemic has thrown a bit of a wrench into some of the process. Their shop is only open and/or returning calls a couple of days of the week because they have been super slow. I kinda get it, but then again, don't. If your business is slow, then wouldn't you be jumping on calls?!? IDK, it was a minor gripe is all. We solicited three specific bids and called five different flooring companies.
Nearly each one talked about how slow they were and yet, of the five we called. two never got back with us to schedule a quote and the three that did, including Woodys, took weeks from initial call to actually receiving the quote. Woody's quote was the most expensive. by $3. Yup, THREE DOLLARS. The last quote we received came in two days after we had decided on Woody's and while it was $100'ish less, it took them 17 days to get us a quote.
What really sealed it for us was Baltazar, the project manager. He was the easiest going of the estimators we met with, was open to trying different things to get us what we wanted. Day one of the refinishing was a bit uncertain due to the lack of communication from the shop, but we ultimately were worried for no reason. Baltazar showed up, with a flooring specialist (aka worker) Monday morning around 9 AM.
I never got the worker dude's name, he spoke little English, which made our conversations brief and broken over the course of the week. If I needed to get any thoughts across I was encouraged to reach out to Baltazar who could help with the translation, but we are really easy going and remained confident and trusting of their work. Initial estimate was 4 days to complete, but given the difficulty finding the Brazilian Cherrywood plank sizes, things slowed down on day two, so the project took 5.5 days to complete.
As for the effort and quality of the work. OH MY HELL! A week later and I am still stunned at the amount of effort that went into these floors. Weaving the new planks into the old flooring alone is spectacular, you would have no idea the floors weren't always in place. The undercutting of the baseboards to avoid having to remove/replace them. The hand carving of plank edges that butt up against tile flooring. Addressing squeaking sections of flooring. Removing and reattaching items like air intake covers and stove securing braces.
Working from 9AM to nearly 10PM on one day. It was absolutely astounding the amount of effort that went into these floors. It was worth every single penny. Thank you Woody's, we will forever be thankful and appreciative!

We really love the final result of our floors that Woody's refinished. We wanted to go with a natural / whitewash tone and finalized on the Pall-X NatureSeal with the Ultra Matte finish. They did a great job repairing spots where the prior finish was completely gone. They also tore out tile/wove in flooring within our kitchen and their crews did a very efficient job at this.
They wove in some extra boards at our request to help blend the old/new floors as much as possible. The entire process was essentially dust free, which was very nice. The crews were on time every day and worked hard / professionally all day. Why I'm ultimately leaving 5 stars is we had some issues with some even staining in some spots and rather than leave us high and dry or avoiding fixing the problem, Woody's stood behind their name, came back, and made sure the final result was great.

They were very polite, respectful and clean. I was very impressed with their sanding job. They had a vacuum system so it was practically dust free. The stain job was beautiful and we were very happy with the color. The reason I am giving it such a low rating is because after all the hard work they put into sanding and staining they ruined it with a cheap top coat. Ironically they spent 4 days on the sanding and staining and only a few hours on the top coat.
They used Pall -x 96 Nexgen for the top coat. I was nervous because I had read several negative reviews on this product, but they assured me it was durable and they used it on all their projects. After the second coat there were several areas that appeared stippled because not enough material had been applied when they rolled it on. We contacted them and they were willing to come out and apply another coat.
They had told us we could move furniture in after a few days and to just walk on the floor with socks on. We wanted to be extra careful so we waited 3 weeks before moving any furniture onto the floor and only walked lightly on the floor using socks. We are now five weeks out since the final coat and the floor is full of long ugly scuff marks. In certain lighting it looks horrible.
Plus there are areas where the finish is completely peeling off. I don't know if the product was not applied correctly or if it is cheap material. I would definitely not recommend using Pall x-96 nexgen. Even though the color looks great I am going to have to look at redoing the top coat with another company that uses a more durable finish. Very disappointing.

I had Jeff and his crew install new wood down the hallway of a high traffic area and where some inserts were, then sand down and restrain our floors. These guys are very attentive to detail and do an amazing job. Worth every penny. Our floors came out great and you can't even tell where the new wood. Services: Repair flooring, Remodeling

We had a large great room that was half wood and half carpet. Wanted to match the old wood and splice in the new wood. Woodys found the exact wood and made the transition from the old to new floor look seamless. They used extremely efficient dustless sanding equipment to sand the old floor down creating virtually NO dust in the house. The finished product looks amazing and it would be impossible to tell that the wood floor was matched and not all installed at the same time.
Their attention to detail and professionalism was something that you just don't see enough of in the construction business these days. Unquestionably one of our best contractor experiences ever!

It is our pleasure to recommend the services of Jim Petersen and his company, Woody's Hardwood Flooring. My husband and I chose to use Jim's company because of his professionalism and high standards, and we could not be happier with the results. From the beginning of the process Jim showed that he cared about giving us excellent service and advice.

We were very pleased with the hardwood floor refinishing and staining job Jim and his crew did in May, 2008. It certainly seemed to be 99.8% dust free. We went out of the country while he worked in the house. Jim took good care of everything while we were gone. He also has been very good with returning to follow up some minor things even after being paid.
