I had the worst experience of my life working with FGS. I do not recommend working with them at all. Now let me start with I have been a property manager for 18 years so I am no stranger to working with commercial vendors and I understand the process of what a restoration company does. The reason I called FGS was because I had a fire in my kitchen.
I met with Denny M. from FGS the day after the fire and he went through the process of what to expect. Then he said if you would like us to start right away you need to sign this release form, as we are standing in my burnt up kitchen. I wish I would have listened to my gut that said, take a day to think about it and talk to other vendors. Unfortunately I didn't listen to my gut and I signed.
I received the breakdown of everything they would do and the cost associated with it a few days later and the Insurance company signed off. FGS started about 5-7 days after the initial meeting. Yay, right?! Nope. Everything came to a halt. Why you ask? There was a big apartment fire on the west side of Madison and all of the work at my house Stopped.
When I called to see what was going on I was told all of the workers were pulled to work on the big apartment job. Aka, bigger job = more money for them. I was like wait what?! And the next thing that flew out of my mouth was, but my house fire happened first. So after some back and forth I decided to Just do the demo work myself to continue the process and not be at a stand still.
I also then decided to subcontract some of the work myself as my confidence in FGS was starting to fade. FGS didn't like that as then they do not get paid for that large portion from the insurance company. So this could go on for days so I'm just going to sum it up so you're not reading a novel. Naturally when you go through this you want your personal belongings to be handled with care.
You want to be kept up to date with the progress so you know when you can plan on returning to your home. Well none of that happened on FGS's part - I would check in to See what was the plan for the week and I was called a micromanager. - My memory foam mattress was damaged in the cleaning process from all the smoke damage and when I brought it up to Denny he said They could take care of it.
I never got it in writing so. - Met with Denny, his boss and the mattress cleaner in FGS conference room to discuss the mattress reimbursement they then said you can't prove it so we are not issuing you any reimbursement. Long story short I have never felt so helpless, mad and disgusted as I did with working with FGS. If you ever have to deal with the awful experience of going through a fire, flooding or any type of restoration work due to unfortunate circumstances I urge you not to work with FGS.
Be informed before signing. Have someone that is close to you as a 3 party bystander (friend) to help absorb and make decisions. It's a traumatic event and having someone there to ask those tough questions and look out for you is wise. Meet with 3 vendors to see who is the best fit for you. It took me 5 years to write this as I think I was incredibly mad after everything and couldn't bring myself to relive it. I hope if you are reading this review it helps in your decision making process.

Entire apartment had to be restored after fire in Waunakee, WI in a Wisconsin Management Building. Jason Anderson was project manager for FGS. He and his field staff did an excellent job. I would rate them a "10." Jason was straight forward, honest, worked well with his team as supervisor, and coordinated with Wisconsin Management all on a timely basis. He also was comfortable talking with me when I had questions/concerns. I can't come up with a single thing I would criticize.

I'd never had issues with water in my basement until recently, but then again I'd never had 11" of rain fall in a few hours' time. As you can imagine, everyone was looking for a company to help them out, and availability was an issue. My first call was not to FGS, but rather to a well-known company that advertises non-stop: I was talking to someone in Texas, who was trying to coordinate with someone in Wisconsin--and after multiple calls we finally set up a 4-hour window for them to show up. Well, they were a no-show, so my time and effort truly was "like it never even happened." Then I gave FGS a call: They picked up right away, and based on the description of the space and the damage, they gave me a quote right over the phone.
It sounded reasonable to me (actually 30% cheaper than the turkeys who didn't bother to show up), so I booked them. Two guys arrived within a couple of hours, I paid them a 50% deposit, and they got right to work: They moved everything from the floor to shelves, and moved all the furniture to rip out the carpet and pad. The pad had been glued onto the concrete so they had to scrape every inch off--and they did.
They carried everything out, and told me that if I had other things I needed to dispose of (the kind of stuff the city charges to have removed), I was welcome to put it on the pile--and I took them up on it. They installed 3 giant industrial fans and a commercial dehumidifier that they left running for several days to make sure the space was bone-dry.
They also cut a section of drywall to ensure there was no mold (I was lucky; none was found). When they returned to pick up the pile of carpet and other junk, I asked them to remove the carpet from my undamaged stairs, which they also did gladly and promptly. Although they told me I'd get an invoice from the office for the balance, a few weeks passed and I got no bill.
I thought they probably forgot, so I gave Taylor at the FGS office a call. He said that, based on the work done and the size of the space, they considered my deposit to be enough to cover everything. But I had already agreed to pay more; who doesn't take advantage of that in this day and age?! FGS, that's who. Have you ever heard of "we finished the job well under budget" from anyone before?
Not only was the work done promptly and exceptionally, not only was everyone hard-working and super friendly, but they had the kind of old-fashioned (and apparently not entirely extinct) sense of integrity to treat a customer right and not charge more than the work was actually worth. If you need water or fire damage restoration or remediation, why in the world would you call anyone else? Why would you trust anyone else? FGS is the company you were looking for all along. You can definitely trust them so your search is over.

I recently worked with FGS on some bathtub remodels and the drywallers were great! They completed the job a week ahead of schedule and paid close attention to details. They vacuumed the hallways and left the work space very tidy each day after they were done working. Those extra efforts are the ones that separate good companies from great companies. Kudos to the guys that worked on this job.

FGS Restoration is a good company to work with. FGS answered questions and provided the needed information to Dimension IV Madison to be able to develope elevations and plans that got them started on restoring a house that had some fire / water damage to it. Brandon Tatge, the project manager on the house was great to work with. He responded quickly with any question that I had and any feed back that I needed to complete the drawings for him. I can't wait to see the house after the restoration.
